  2. Your question about P&O or Cunard reminded me of what a Young lady said to me while on Iona last year that she was only there because her Mother wanted to try P&O and she normally travelled Cunard with her husband where she said the service was a lot better.

And when she suggested i should try Cunard i joked they would take one look at me and say 'Nah we'll give you your money back' she replied it's not as posh as it used to be but still a lot better that P&O.

    ย

Also Flam is mentioned i first went there in 2012 and instantly fell in love with the place then went back last year and sadly has changed since my last visit more commercialized now with more shops and with the bigger ships very busy cause there is limit space for the town to expand.

The sail in is still out of this world but for me sadly the town itself has become like any town centre on a Saturday Afternoon.ย

Iona is the only ship I've done twice at the moment.ย  I loved it.ย  You can be a small fish in a big pond.ย  I'm glad you enjoyed it too.

It divides opinion on here I find.ย  Everyone rushes to try the new ships but as it's aimed at a different market it now has its vocal critics.ย  Some change is needed to move forward.ย  There a now a mix of ships for the differing markets and you can tell the atmosphere of each.ย  I'm not the life and soul of the party and go to relax and Iona has enough about it to keep me entertained.ย ย

    ย

Norway and Sweden are the best destinations I've been to as well and itching to go back!ย  Very jealous.ย  I was in Southampton today on a trip out to test my new camera, monocular and spotting scope and had a pang of jealousy with Iona in and people coming and going.

ย So True i was going to cancel my first cruise i had booked because i cannot stand arrogant people that that think they are better than others but was talked into going and i must admit i love cruising now as i like meeting people and have met people for all walks of life on them. But was on the Iona last year and though it was a disaster physically for me i ended up with a group of people later at night afterย  doing everybody doing there own thing which consisted of Singles Marriedย  Older Younger Gay & Straight. I think it all comes down to the kind of people you 'click' with. Back on Iona in 2 weeks but hired a Mobility Scooter to get round her this time.

Me neither.ย  I cannot for the life of me see what difference it makes to your cruise at all. As long as they know what they are doing and don't make the same stupid jokes every day!!

So true but there are so many people that think if the Captain speaks to them they become somehow more Important than the other passengers even though it is all PR, and the Captains must talk to thousands of passengers over the years.

  6. Think P&O have finally lost it when it comes to sending out emails,ย  Booked a Cruise for 2026 the other day and received a email today saying 'The Countdown has Begun only 107 weeks till your Holiday'.

Good of them to remind me of that might have forgot.

Where can i buy a 2 year Calendar to mark the weeks off.ย ๐Ÿค”ย

"Fromย 1st April 2025, smoking will no longer be permitted on cabin balconies. This applies to cigarettes, cigars, pipes and electronic cigarettes that emit any vapour โ€“ even water vapour. Electronic cigarettes that donโ€™t emit vapour will continue to be permitted for use inside cabins and on cabin balconies but are not permitted in any non smoking public areas."

Even i'm shocked at that and i'm a occasional smoker but never do it anywhere near where it would affect others.

  9. Personally i would apply for tickets and if i got them give them away as i have seen him many times as worked part time at concerts for many years so the charity benefitted. But if it was Ronan Keating that was on i would go to see him for the laugh as the Ladies seem to throw their Ladylike Manners out the window when he is on.ย ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Hi. Could someone shed some light on why similar midship cabins on Deck 15 appear to be a bit cheaper (ยฃ60pp) than those on Deck 14? Is it due to noise, or are there other factors? I've checked the ship plans and there don't appear to be shade or privacy issues on the cabins I'm looking at.

    ย

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Will

Deck 15 cabins may have more noise in them late at night as the Skydome is mid ship on Deck 16 though Deck 14 has nothing apart from cabins above and below it.

Cruisemapper is a great site for deck maps going into more details of what is on each deck on many Cruise Ships.

    Happy Cruising.

  11. Sadly we live in the days where not just Cruising but in life in general people 'say' the right thing but 'do' what suits them bestย  some able bodied and not so.

For me personally i'm disabled but will still help others and it it upsets others because it doesn't suit them my answer is tough.

There is one saying that has done me good in life and that is 'A Person's Actions Not there Words will tell you everything You Need to know about them'.

  12. Horizon is closed between 1am and 6am so the only food available 24hrs is room service which is very limited.

Another thing i do before visiting any new place is look at Youtube Videos of the places made by visitors as sometimes the Official description can make them sound better that they are. Enjoy.

  13. I know you can book shore excursions before going on a cruise but having a Walking problem i'm leaving it until i'm Onboard and hoping there not all fully booked to find out more detail about them.

Could someone tell me does the Excursion Desk open in the evening we leave Southampton or not until the next day.?

    Thanks

  14. I'm a Solo traveller as well and decided to upgrade in my first cruise to a Balcony but discovered unless you want to get away for some peace and quiet or like reading you actually spend very little time on it. First thing inย  the Morning and Last thing at Night was really the only time i used it, too much going on around ship and you can always sit out on Deck and watch (Both) sides of the Scenery go by.

  15. I have discovered that someone else is using the same name as me folks, there posted comments i am not responsible for, only comments with the 'selfie' holding the Norwegian Flag are mine with the photo taken in Flam in 2012, many of you may recognise if you have visited it.ย ๐Ÿ˜‡

Massive difference in the pricing as you say. When there used to be two competing things were always much cheaper.ย

May encourage me to do some shorter cruises and just fly down.

Was thinking the same myself wasn't worth driving all that way for 3-4 day cruise and when Logan Air was doing that route cost as much as cruise did.

I think the Sky sports programme referred to would be Sky Sports News, which is one of the TV channels available on P&O, and most other cruise lines sailing out of the UK.

Maybe but Sky Sports News does exactly that reports news doesn't show any live sport.

  18. My first cruise was Solo on the Azura though was a few years ago and was going to cancel it because at that time P&O had there own forum which was full of arrogant people and i didn't want to spend a holiday with these kind of people.

But other's on the forum told me to go and i went and had a fantastic time meeting people and laughing with people i would not normally meet in everyday life.

Didn't meet a single arrogant person and as i said when i came back the other passengers made the cruise so enjoyable as was my first experience of travelling Solo.

So basically saying Go for It.

  19. Been on 4 P&O Ships but never seen Sky on any of them but won't make a difference if they have as TNT Sports (formally known as BT Sports) have the televising rights for the Europa League and Champions League.

Sorry for being the bearer of bad news unless it is on Sports 24 but will not be on Sky.
