  1. Yeah, propulsion systems not working is not in an insignificant issue
  2. Any ideas why Princess would use the picture of a crawfish boil https://www.princess.com/search-cruise/details/?voyageCode=N226&fareType=BESTFARE on the 7-Day Canada & New England itinerary where the cruise gets nowhere near the Gulf Coast and Louisiana?
  3. I think green is that you filled in all your pre-cruise info and it's been verified, so you get go through a few minutes faster than the blue line.
  4. I know about gratuities being billed at the end of the cruise...but I didn't know that there would be a bill for a the balcony, I thought that was an upfront cost. What gives?
  5. Welcome to the Crown!...Do people remember which of the Princess ships used to home port here in the even numbered docks? There was one that was retrofit here like 8 years ago I believe. I used to see it a lot in dry dock. Which one? Do tell? what happened? I'm about to get on the Sapphire which caught fire in dry dock 20 years ago.... Same
  6. Thanks for the pro-tip Nice Want to know a funny? I started the roll call for the cruise...but no one else chimed in. Maybe it's just us?
  7. We're doing South America and Antarctica starting Dec 19, 2022 in Santiago (well, San Antonio to be precise), Chile. We plan on being in Santiago for about a week beforehand, so if they ship 12 days in advance, it's really unlikely that we'll get them before we leave. Plus, the app shows that the medallions aren't available for pick up at embarkation. Should I just order them to get in the green lane, and then ask them to make new ones there once we are checking in? Also, it looks like people in this thread are discussing corona tests that you can carry with you to satisfy the testing requirement. Is there a thread that I can refer to for more details that people can point me to, please? We don't need a test to enter Chile, but I'm unsure if Princess will require one to board the ship.
  8. Any thoughts about if we'll need to tests to board the Sapphire Princess in San Antonio, Chile (close to Santiago) on Dec 19 for the Chile - Antarctica - Argentina 16-day route?
  9. @erber, @beg3yrs & @drowelf Well that settles it, balcony it will be. Youse have thoroughly convinced me.
  10. I understand that everyone is different, I can handle temps of -15 C for about 3-4 hours bundled up. But temps probably hover about freezing around Christmas there since it's the peak of summer, right? For your balcony room, would have been better off saving the money and going for Oceanview and just getting the window than the balcony?
  11. Ah ha. Thanks much. I'm looking at sailing mid-December, so we'll see if any other posters on the boards here cruise before me šŸ™‚
  12. Can any recent cruisers speak to if the Sapphire offers milkshakes, or just frozen yogurt? I understand from another thread that only Grand class ships still have the mixers, and since Sapphire is Gem class, which is a barely modified Grand class, I'm hoping for milkshakes like back in the day on the Golden Princess.
  13. Sweet. Thanks for much. Iā€™d upvote you on Reddit
  14. Thanks boss! all appreciated and extra blankets for MUTS
  15. No worries, just as long as my clumsy ass won't slip and fall on a frozen/icy balcony. I would personally relish the idea of having morning coffee well bundled on my balcony. I suppose that I just need to keep the chairs, inside. Probably the table too so it doesn't glaze over during the night. Really? The curtain? I was actually thinking about the thickness of the glass. True, and the toilet water drains in the opposite direction. Any ideas about what these outdoor activities may be? Wifey speculated that the pool may be open for polar bear club try outs.
  16. On the recreational cruises, is sitting in the cafeteria, savoring the scenery, and enjoying a warm beverage the main thing? What kind of other activities are there?
  17. What do people think about an Oceanview with just a window or a balcony for December 19, 2022 Antarctica and Cape Horn from San Antonio, Chile to Buenos Aires? Do the balconies freeze making them practically unusable? Are the rooms with a balcony super cold at night? Do most people hangout in the cafeteria and take in the splendor given that outdoor activities are likely limited? Is there stuff to do on the decks? I don't imagine that the pools are open. Maybe hot tubs?
  18. As above, we're thinking about going in the middle of the southern hemisphere's summer, but I still expect that it may be quite chilly at times. a) Thoughts about if the balcony rooms are cold at night? b) Do the balcony decks freeze making them effectively unusable for recreating? c) Are people inside most of the time at the cafeteria taking in the view from the windows and sipping warm beverages? d) other helpful thoughts, tips, tricks, lessons?
