It was 2/310 on our Royal Caribbean cruise and my boyfriends kicking himself for not getting it. When we checked the base, the price came nowhere near that. My aunt will be on a Carnival cruise in July and I'm hoping they'll have a sale like that or something close to it.

I don't think it was that low on NCL, but I could be wrong. We've only started drinking the double black. Afraid to taste the blue. [emoji31]

We priced it on a Norwegian last November. We could get it cheaper at our military base and even at the port in Cozumel.

Oh my gosh that charge is for the gratuities for those packages as you will not be given any kind of slip to sign where you can tip. If you were not planning on tipping then feel free to be outraged. Otherwise just do the math and enjoy the cruise. $127 pp for all you can drink is a steal if you are going to drink more than 10-12 drinks in 9 days.

Exactly!!!!! $14/day in tips is nothing and completely due to the servers taking care of getting you unlimited drinks!!!! When you think about any drink up to $15 is included, anytime of the day, I know we definitely drank our money's worth! Before anyone makes a snide comment about that, we were never drunk and never woke up hungover either. It was a thoroughly enjoyable cruise not to have to worry each time we had a drink and knowing we'd have an additional bill at the end. We had such an amazing time and the only cruise we felt total relaxation with!

We've sailed Royal and Carnival and last year for the first time NCL. We had the drink package and yes, paid gratuities on the drink package, but we crunched the numbers and we were still ahead in pricing!!! I also think we need to pay gratuities as those are charged when you don't have the package. We found NCL to be an amazing cruise line and it was our first and quite enjoyable! Hope you find what you're looking for and happy about.

We have great friends who like to cruise and we don't cruise together, but our pups get sleepovers at each other's homes while the other cruises. Works very well for both of our dogs and all of us! The dogs love their "other" home when we cruise and we get some time not to worry about how to take them out to potty. Can't even imagine how that would even begin to work on a cruise. We also traveled in an RV for years with our pup. Worked great, but I hate traveling on the roads anymore with crazy drivers that don't pay attention because something on their phone is more important. [emoji33]

I read on these boards that you can rebook a cruise. They suggested that when doing so you do not say cancel you say "rebook". If you really were set on the 11/10 cruise I would try again to rebook it. The one that we are thinking of has "perks". My TA has a cabin on hold for us now all we have to do is decide!!
We originally booked when the gratuities were offered too! They won't transfer those and with a 9-day cruise and gratuities going up we are saving quite a bit of money staying on the 11/26 sailing.

We are looking for the 11/10 out of NOLA, waiting to hear from my TA, also looking at air from Pittsburgh. We have not sailed Norwegian since 95, we do not know what to expect!! We sail Princess and Royal, we like the itinerary for this cruise!
When we booked our 11/26, the 11/10 was only a 7-day. They changed it and when we called we would lose our initial free offerings so we kept our sailing. For timing purposes the 11/10 sailing would have been better for us, but I figured I will be thankful when that one is returning and we are just Heading out on ours! [emoji6]

Thanks for all the advice! My husband thinks it would be a total waste of money so I enjoyed sharing your reviews with him to help try to convince him that it would be worth it! Based on what I read, it seemed like it was worth the extra $200, but I know that sometimes things are not always as they are described on the website. Thanks again for the reviews!
I will tell you that I enjoyed it more than my hubby! However, he's funny about public pools and hot tubs! He thoroughly enjoyed the beds (can't remember what they were called) and the fact no one seemed to be in there much. Peaceful place to go relax and unwind. I absolutely LOVED the Thalassotherapy Pool!!!! After a long day walking it sure felt amazing on the body and muscles.

I booked a GTY cabin the last cruise and our next one. Last time we were put into an enclosed balcony. I asked on CC some thoughts and many liked them so I was going to keep it. However, as the cruise got closer prices dropped so much that our TA was able to move as to a regular balcony. We definitely saved some money, with minor aggravation. For our next cruise I booked another GTY cabin. It leaves in November and we already have a room assigned. A great balcony room. I will say, I've asked and read a lot on CC and have never seen anyone get a wrap around amazing upgrade when booking a GTY.

It's the little things like 1 announcement a day, cool towels & water when you return to the ship from port and I'll let you discover some. IMHO food and service are better.
With NCL we got cool towels and water when we returned to the ship at every port!

If you go to dinner at the specialty restaurant the first night (get your reservations when you get on the ship), you get a free bottle of wine!!!!!

The only thing I have paid for since being on board is Vibe. So not sure where nickeled and dimed comes from. Maybe I'll find out later in the week.

Our first NCL (after being loyal to Royal) was this past November. We loved it and and we understood the "nickel and dime" comments. We came home and booked two more NCL cruises and still have a prepaid deposit on Royal we are thinking of just getting refunded as we haven't found a reason to go back to them yet!

Lunch in Savor. As a Royal guy I love the dining room option on embarkation day.
This was our initial excitement with NCL! Quiet and peaceful as most went to the buffet. Loved going into the dining room after we got on and having lunch there!

I grew up cruising with my parents (when cruising wasn't even widely available) and then didn't really cruise again as a married couple for our 20th wedding anniversary. Of course during the 20 years my husband was active duty military so we traveled the world through our moves. Now hubby and I cruise and our girls love cruising too! It does become a family affair for sure! Our oldest just got off a cruise with her fried who'd never been on one and she fell in love with cruising! Enjoy! We were on the Dream in 2015 and haven't been back out on her as we got onto the NCL bandwagon and really enjoy that cruise line now!

New Cruiser - gratuities help
in Norwegian Cruise Line
Posted
Correct! When you are still stateside there may be a slight cost due to the state tax laws for a drink purchased. Very small amounts, less than $1.00. Just for clarification also is the prepaid gratuities may be on your drink package and any specialty dining package offered. You still will have the cost of gratuities added for the stateroom attendants, dining room staff, etc.
