  1. Chlorine doesnt work in hot tubs. They have to use bromine due to high temps. While urine is gross, you can drink it and it wont hurt you. #2 on the other hand is very dangerous. Think norovirus and ecoli. What i got was a bacterial infection. Resisant strain of staph. It basically eats your flesh. You take antibiotics and it goes away and reappears somewhere else on your body. Absolute hell. Most of the people i see in hot tubs, i dont even know how they reach their butts…..
  2. Urine is not dangerous. Its the people who dont wipe their butts good that you need to worry about. I cant even look at those tubs now. Its sad, i love hot tubs.
  3. My solution was to charge by the hour for the chairs. Even if it was $1 an hour i bet it would help.
  4. I used to love them until i got a serious skin infection in an rccl hot tub. Took me 1.5 years to finally get rid of it. Scars all over my body from it. Later i became a certified pool operator and in class we learned that public hot tubs are next to impossible to sanitize. Too high of a bathing load in hot water.
  5. I get it, but do you have any idea how many people have weed, cocaine on a ship for personal use? i was thinking that since they now just let you sail through customs it would be easy to smuggle a couple suitcases full of heroin or cocaine. I think this is what they are looking for. Plus the officer gets to go on a cruise!!!
  6. I doubt he is sniffing for weed. Hard drugs in large quantities or bombs. No smuggler is gonna put on weed and if they were catching recreational users, half the ship would be in the brig.
  7. Madeira beach(tampa fl). Right now. Not a stitch. We have Always gotten it though from time to time.
  8. I ride and race dirtbikes. I have been wondering if engine ice dave has anything to do with engine ice coolant. Apparently it does.
  9. Its always really bad in costa maya.
  10. That news story is clickbait. I just sailed through the middle of said blob twice last week as well as went to coco cay. No more seaweed then usual. This is a natural phenomenon and has happened forever. Some years better then others. There is no blob or carpet. Just small patches less then a few feet across. This is my beach in tampa fl i took right now. No seaweed to speak of. Dont believe the news, they have lost their way.
  11. So we elected to do the next cruise on the last voyage as we got an instant reward. We simply filled out the form and left it in the box at next cruise. They charged our $200 deposit to our room. When we returned home, we booked one of them and linked it to our next cruise deposit. We just had to pay the port charges - $200. Easy peasy. My question is, they allow you to book up to 3 deposits at that time. So if we were to buy say two deposits at a time, if we wind up taking one of the club royale offers vs an instant reward, or our annual prime cruises (2), we would then get the $50 or $100 next cruise onboard credit as well? It says you have up to a year to book the deposit, so my assumption is you can link it later on. This way you always get the OBC. It is also fully refundable once you making the booking as the $200 deposit just goes toward your port fees and if you cancel, you get it all back. Does this sound right? Are there any drawbacks?
  12. There is a large smoking area on the starboard side of the pool deck 15.
  13. Its true. Its just not a belt. I just sailed through the center of it twice last week. Small patches 3sf every 1/4 mile. So spaced apart you cant even see it unless its very close to the ship
  14. Exactly. Click bait. Its not a giant carpet of seaweed. Its just small patches over a big area. Happens every year
  15. Book right away and yiu shouldnt have a problem. Any ship right now.
  16. Older people generally like smaller ships and younger generally bigger. i prefer oasis class with wonder taking the win due to a few more modern touches and a large casino plus its new and everything is in tip top shape. I prefer the 3 major theaters as i like to go to shows. Since oasis has cats that a real loser for me.
  17. Dont miss the date or every show will be sold out by the 2nd day. And you will have to pick up scraps on board. Totally stupid of rccl to do it this way.
  18. Usually 1st of the month before so long as there is 30 days before cruise.
  19. Its not a tip. Its a resort fee in my mind. It saves us money on fares this way. If they were to just roll it into the price and add it to the balance sheet, 100’s of millions of dollars would now have to be reported. Of course they would have the labor deduction but they would likely have to pay alot of fees depending on how their labor structure is.
  20. Every single one of them hates it. Stewards with over 20 years are ready to quit and i think alot will. They got a really small pay increase and now they are again hiring other crewmembers ti help them on departure day as they did prior to 2010. They feel like they are back there again.
  21. Interesting that you bring this up. Now more then ever if you tell them what you want and offer them a little advance, they will do whatever you want. They simply do not have time to automatically do anything with this new program of once a day. They no longer ask you if you want ice, towels etc unless you ask. Our carnival steward had 35 rooms. Yes you read that right 35!!!!! With an assitant only 2 hours in the morning. They are in hell.
  22. The laundry was actually fascinating. They wash the sheets and feed them into an enormous machine and they come out pressed and folded on the other end. Crew has thier own free laundry mat for personal, uniforms are washed or sey cleaned for free. They can pay on sea pass for laundry if they want. One reason is the level of automation may reduce the employee/passenger ratio. Plus you have 5 or so other positions that share the steward “tip”. Is there another way to explain why the breakdown is different on every ship? i cant imagine what it would be.
  23. I see. I suppose it would be too confusing to have different amounts per boat. I no longer care either. I no longer consider it a tip. Its a resort fee.
