  1. Absolutely correct - there are many free choices. They bring out that which they want to use up for whatever reason. This doesn't mean its bad...perhaps they just have too much of it.
  2. There are limits to upward mobility in those areas based on certain factors that I will not discuss here. Just remember that every likes getting cash even if not everyone likes giving it.
  3. There is nothing wrong with a cash tip - just as there is nothing wrong with not leaving a cash tip. Comment card info is nice but not every employee is there for a career and not every employee can be promoted beyond a certain point. DO what you think is right and don't let internet people sway your judgement.
  4. We are extremely lucky to have such choices to make in life...
  5. You can also ask for an additional feedback form from the Front Desk at any time and with no limit.
  6. Perhaps Regent has decided to buy more bandwidth - the current hardware can handle 4x the current speed.
  7. Navigator, during the most recent test by the satellite provider, was about 3% faster than the other ships. The hardware is in place for much faster bandwidth but Corporate has not yet decided to buy it.
  8. The "right thing" is whatever you feel good doing. There is no prohibition against tipping and many people do it. Some Regent employees make as little as $800 a month and, in general, they make less (in normal tipping positions like bartenders, etc.) than on other lines. Giving money to the crew fund is also kind just be aware that this doesn't put any money into the crews' hands...it goes to helping subsidize the departmental parties in the crew bar. Whatever you do, do not leave cash on the bar when ordering a drink. At the end of the cruise, put it in an envelope with their name on it and give it to them discretely.
  9. It is either no big deal (most people) or you get a waiver from the doctor. If your doctor won't give you a waiver, you get the shot or risk being denied boarding....or just stay home.
  10. I CLEARLY included the doctor waiver in my statement...
  11. Either get the vaccination, get a waiver or accept the possibility that you will not be allowed to board. I've had this discussion with Regent...and at the time they were not interested in the potential fine they would get hit with for non-compliance. Maybe things have changed but the Yellow Fever vaccine is no big deal.
  12. Nah...Allianz is pretty solid. Insurance companies have different rules for cancellations vs. interruptions and that's OK with me. And Regent says, as of Friday, they they want a pre-travel Covid test in order to cover a loss from Covid if you don't have insurance. People, as always, call and verify for yourselves. Don't trust us wackos on the interwebs.
  13. The last time I spoke with them, it was my understanding that they treated a prior sickness (cancellation) differently than a sickness you got while on the trip itself (interruption). The legalese is beyond me this morning as I just woke but your agent/policy will have the answers.
  14. On an interesting sidebar, I have personally watched a Regent person download a 5gb movie in under 30 seconds while at sea. This is not a dispute of anything you said...just a data point.
  15. I am saying that Regent wants a negative test taking prior to your vacation before they will issue you a FCC no matter what the protocol is in the country you leave from. I am basing this statement on an email from a senior Regent employee. So does Allianz insurance (and Travel guard the last time I checked with them). While it is possible that these policies have change since the email was written, I would err on the side of caution and check with Regent directly rather than take the word of any random person on the internet.
  16. Violating a protocol means to act against it. Getting a Covid test is not a violation of a protocol but not getting one is, as are many other things. In my professional capacity, I inquired of Regent for clarification and the email response I got in reply stated exactly what I am telling you. I also re-confirmed with my contact this week. Same with Allianz insurance. Perhaps the policy has changed or perhaps we are both misunderstanding it...but I would strongly suggest that anyone who is not 100% certain, to call Regent and get a response that is more substantial that this discussion here...there is a lot on the line, too much to assume.
  17. Think about it this way....Regent and my insurance company want to make sure I am Covid free BEFORE starting my vacation...so that if I should become sick while ON vacation, their stated policies would kick in. They are not interested in covering my loss from a time period outside of the trip.
  18. I've read the page you linked...did you? "If I test positive for COVID-19 during a cruise and have to quarantine, will I receive a refund?Guests who are quarantined and/or disembarked due to a positive COVID-19 test, immediate travel party or close contact as defined above should submit an insurance claim for trip interruption. Proof of claim denial from insurance carrier, proof of a negative COVID-19 test result from a registered test provider prior to flying to embarkation port, as well as all receipts are to be submitted to guestrelations@rssc.com within three (3) months from the scheduled voyage end date."
  19. Because the vast majority of sailing is in coastal waters and I think the article outlines a plan to provide additional coverage.
  20. Yes - the current provider is expensive and Regent has determined they would loss money if they bought more bandwidth. Starlink is less expensive.
  21. I am just linking the article. I think everyone understand there will be signal lose at times....but I do not understand why the speed is not faster when it easily can be....on the only 6 star rated line in the world.
