  1. When I tried to figure out what Devil Dogs were I went to Google Images and this was for the home made ones. Drakes made the store bought ones. I think the shape and perhaps the filling distinguishes them from Whoopie Pies. @Seasick Sailor thanks for the photos of cute Oliver. Thank you for rescuing him.
  2. Good morning from warm SW Michigan. The rain has cleared out early. Thanks for the Daily and the maps each day, Sandi, Rich and Roy. A good group of days, no small pets and no kiddos here and thank you for explaining Devil Dogs @grapau27. I thought they were these: A good quote from Helen Keller. Thanks for the photos of today's port Sandi. I will pass on the shrimp with cauliflower and we are having Cioppino that I did all the work on a week or so ago. John couldn't find seafood for it at Meijer but Wallies had clams and scallops. They will work just fine, I have had that lovely brunello before and it is a beauty. Today's cocktail looks tasty too. Thanks for researching these for us each day. Welcome back Dixie, I hope you had a lovely Disney cruise. Vanessa, so happy to read that you have had 7 hours of sleep yesterday. Thanks for keeping abreast of all the celebrations and illnesses and bereavements. Prayers for Tana and Maurice. Prayers for all in war zones, the hostages and the people of Ukraine. @Mr. Boston Lucky you to be in Ogunquit. My sister used to live in Wells and worked at Hurricanes in the cove, I visited her frequently. So much good seafood there. A day of fiddling with the plants for the sale today. I thought the rain would linger into the day today but the sun is out so I will go to my sister's and pick up some stuff she dug up for me and then pot them up. That will just about be the end of the plant sale digging and potting, we will dig at my sister's house on Tuesday because she has decided she wants to get rid of more plants. I have arranged for help. That means I can focus on spreading Preen and my mulch and small jobs in the yard as we prepare to leave on May 19. Have a lovely Saturday/ Nancy
  3. @ger_77 we feed grape jelly in a traditional Oriole feeder. The finches that eat the jelly are the red house finches. When we have many visitors to the jelly I will take a small plastic dish and use duck tape to secure it to the balcony railing top. Then we have had Red-Bellied Woodpeckers eating it too. I agree with the consensus, drink #2 is the winner. Stay safe @Haljo1935 and @Quartzsite Cruiser. We have storms heading our way but nothing major. @Cruising-along thanks for the lovely photos of Hobart.
  4. @JazzyV I hope your incision is healing and your pain is getting less each day. @StLouisCruisers thank you for the gorgeous photos of Hobart. That botanical garden was a delight. @aliaschief thanks for the photos of your lovely ship.
  5. Good morning everyone. It is a beautiful morning and a nice day coming up. Thanks for the daily and the maps, Sandi, Rich and Roy! It would be easy to hug an Aussie on a BHB, there is always some of those citizens on HA ships. Audubon Society is a great organization, we are awaiting the arrival of the Baltimore Orioles and the Rose Breasted Grosbeaks due here any moment. The jelly has been out for a week, the finches have been enjoying it. Chernobyl put a taint on nuclear power, along with Three Mile Island. We need to reconsider it to reduce all the reliance on polluting fossil fuels. They are working on recommissioning a plant nearby on Lake Michigan. A funny quote by Mel Brooks. Thanks for the Daily comestibles each day @cat shepard, @0106 and @kochleffel. I will pass on salmon, always. Today's Cava sounds like a winner and hoping for a good cocktail for a BHB. Sounds like one. Vanessa thank you for the Cares and Celebrations reports. @RMLincoln I hope you made it home safely and sympathy for your family in the passing of your SIL. She is no longer suffering, I hope you can be a help to your DB and his family. @smitty34877 I am sad to read your family's visit is winding down and continued prayers for Tana. Prayers for @ger_77 DH, @Cruzin Terri for her DH and for Annie and Chuck @marshhawk. John insists on taking me to lunch today. Today is the anniversary of my late DHs passing in 2015. He was in hospice for 13 days before he passed. I prefer to work with my plant sale plants in the sun but I have to recognize the thought. I am surprised he is leaving the house with the Draft showing. I had a very good trip to the meat sale arriving with number 28 being waited on and I had #41. Only a 20 minute wait, last year it was almost an hour. Then I went to their garden center and bought a flat of tomato, squash and cucumbers to pot into bigger pots for the sale. Sun and fertilizer and they will really take off. Have a lovely Friday. Nancy
  6. @RMLincoln glad you are safely back home but saddened to read your DSIL passed away. Many times it is a blessing for the close family. @JazzyV I hope and pray that you can get a good night's sleep.
  7. @ger_77 Happy birthday to your DH Maurice! I hope he gets approved for his heart valve replacement approved soon. 🎂
  8. Good morning everyone. Thanks to Sandi and @aliaschief for the beautiful sunny photos to start our days. Thanks for the Daily and maps Roy, Rich and Sandi. I will recognize my hairdresser for sure if I was visiting her today. East meets West day was very important at the end of WWII in Europe. John has been celebrating DNA day quite a bit since he got his results back from his DNA test, he has found a hobby working on his family's genealogy. A good project for these cold days we have been having. I will pass on the shrimp and the cocktail but a SB wine is always refreshing. I look forward to everyone else's photos of Santorini. Cute phot of Oliver @Seasick Sailor. Thanks for the Cares and Celebrations reports Vanessa. I hope that you made it upstairs to you bed and had your fist good night of sleep in it in a very long time. Prayers for everyone in war zones, Ukraine, Israel and the innocents in Gaza. Prayers for safe travels home and rapid healing for your DH @RMLincoln. Prayers for Tana, @smitty34877 I am happy you have had some extra help and a good visit with your family. Today is going to the meat sale at our grocery store that has a large fresh cut meat market. T-bones, Porterhouses and rib eyes are on my list, usually the wait for one's number to be called is an hour. I will go to their garden center next door and shop during my wait. Frost happened last night but it wasn't a hard freeze so I hope the orchard owners dodged the danger with their fans. An exciting night, the first round of the NFL Draft. Ravens pick late unless they trade forward or trade their first round pick for more in the later rounds. That has happened quite a bit, waiting until our pick and they have traded back. Have a lovely Thursday. Nancy
  9. Vanessa @JazzyV so happy to read you had a decent night's sleep and haven't been in bad pain. I hope you make it upstairs to your own bed tonight. @Haljo1935 Feeling for you having to cancel your upcoming cruises.
  10. Good morning everyone. Thanks for the Daily and maps, Sandi, Roy and Rich. I will definitely celebrate SB, we will have to buy some at Costco to bring to the cabin for the summer. @grapau27 thanks once more for the explanation of St. Mark's Eve. Lab animals suffer for our benefit, I hope they can come up with better ways for testing. Great quote bay Anais Nin. Thanks for our port photos Sandi, I am sure there will be more coming of the picturesque port. I am not at fan of salmon, @cunnorl I think there are more of us that we know about. I will take my sparkling wine just plain. I avoid OJ because of the sugar. The Barbaresco sound like a wonderful wine, thanks for researching this for us and to @kochleffel for filling in for Dixie. Thanks for the Cares and Celebrations list Vanessa. I hope that you had a good night's sleep and continue to heal completely. @RMLincoln I am glad your husband will be cleared today and that you get to spend some time with your friends in MD. I feel for you having to pass through Baltimore with a major north/south transportation artery shut down. @Cruzin Terri I truly feel for you as your trip is not going to happen. Prayers for Tana and Chuck and @ger_77for your husband needing a valve replacement. Prayers for al in war zones, Ukraine, the hostages and the innocents in Gaza. I will continue to take wine out of the cellar for our 4 month trip to the cabin. I could barely walk this morning when I got out of bed simply by carrying 2 cases upstairs 4 bottles at a time in a basket. I told John we will have to hitch up the lawn cart and pull them uphill from the basement. We are supposed to have a hard frost tonight which is bad for our fruit growers in our area because their apple and pear trees are in bloom. It will be in the 40s here today with wind out of the north. Another day stuck in the house. Have a lovely Wednesday. Nancy
  11. Vanessa, so happy you had a first good night of sleep in I don't know how long. @RMLincoln I am happy to read that your DH eye surgery went well. @0106 we would be all in on renting a car in Kona. Even if an Uber is involved to get one. No bad traffic I would imagine there.
  12. @aliaschief thanks for the wonderful photos from your cruise! @GTVCRUISER I almost thought you were on on a cruise I have been missing your SD photos.
  13. Thanks for the photos Jacqui. I just love the PG on the Volendam. Small and intimate service. No constant change of waiters through your meal. Have fun!
  14. Good morning everyone! Thanks for the Daily Sandi, Roy and Rich! I celebrate the English language and have found an excellent low carb English Muffin that I can enjoy from time to time with natural peanut butter. Never watched Dr. Who. Thanks for our explanations today @grapau27. Today's quote made me think of the dreaded philosophy classes I had in high school and college. My brain doesn't work that way. Thanks for today's Kona photos Sandi, I look forward to everyone else's. I was there in 1988 and we stayed at the fabulous Waikoloa Village Hotel. We did helicopter and deep sea fishing. Happily we will return three times in early 2025. Vanessa I don't know if you are posting from your bed or chair at home but if so you are a hero. @RMLincoln prayers for your DH today as he has his eye surgery at Wilmer. Safe travels home. @Haljo1935 I pray your eye procedure goes well today. Prayers of healing for Chuck, Tana, Annie and everyone else who are ailing. Prayers for all in war zones through no fault of their own, Ukraine and the innocents in Gaza. I have a dental cleaning appointment then will get a mani and pedi and hit the grocery for things we always run out of, lettuce, eggs and water. Out treatment system adds unhealthy amounts of salt so I avoid it. Have a lovely day! Nancy
  15. @JazzyV I am glad you mending at home with your BFF taking care of you.
  16. @Cruzin Terri. I am so sad you had to cancel your cruise. I know good things will come out of your decision but it must be so deflating today. 😿 @shadow 123 welcome to the Daily!
  17. Good Monday morning! Thanks for the Daily and maps, Sandi, Rich and Roy. Happy Earth Day everyone. I agree with @0106 that plastics are taking over our lives. Girl Scout Leaders should be celebrated. A wonderful quote today by Dr. Seuss. Barbara Walters became a new anchor in 1976, a long time ago. I like coleslaw so thanks for the recipes today Debbie. A mystery cocktail and a wonderful wine. Again Vanessa I woke up thinking about your surgery today. You sure deserve some relief from your pain. To all who celebrate Passover have a lovely and meaningful Seder tonight. @Haljo1935 thanks for the lovely photo of your DGD. @rafinmd I hope you get a good report at your oncologist today. Prayers for Tana, Annie and Chuck and everyone else in our group who is hurting or ailing. Prayers for all of those in war zones, Ukraine, Israel and the innocents in Gaza. Another day of trying to get stuff done outside. It was so chilly yesterday I didn't get a lot accomplished because I linger inside until it at least gets near 50 degrees, especially when it is windy. Yesterday I tried to get some organization around a private shore excursion in Papeete next year. The first people expressing interest didn't get back to me. Finally I posted my email and a deadline of Friday for everyone interested in order to try to get the list of people who will go with us on our 6-person tour. Our Roll Call is already reaching 40 pages. Have a nice day everyone. Nancy
  18. @grapau27 and @1ANGELCAT Thoughts for both of you in memory of your dear mothers.
  19. @JazzyV Vanessa prayers for you for a successful surgery today. ❤️‍🩹
  20. Bon Voyage Jacqui! Have a wonderful time! Wrong ship but the sentiment is the same!
