Is the OP a TA? It’s just the attitude expressed by my TA when I contacted her when I read that Silhouette was not coming to Southampton on 17th April, but I assumed that she was trying to protect her commission.

At age 78, it would be foolish to book another cruise for 2022. I do hope I will still be around and if I am, I will look at a late booking.

Who knows how long Celebrity will keep the restriction of the Drs note for the over 70’s. At the moment I won’t get one, as I have had notification from my Drs to Self Shield, due to multiple long term conditions. I feel well but am not prepared to pay for a cruise which might not go ahead on 1st August, just to be issued with a FCC which I might be unable to use.

Totally agree with what you say.

mt TA has said it will be 90 days before we get a refund

another thought is how much will  cruise cover cost when you buy travel insurance

I rang our TA when it was announced that Silhouette wouldn’t be doing the East bound TA on 17th April, to say I wasn’t prepared to pay on 3rd May, until I knew whether the ship was actually coming to Southampton. I also stated that I didn’t think I would be able to cruise, as :

    a) Celebrity want a Drs letter to say I am fit to cruise. I don’t think I will get that letter, as I have been sent a letter from the surgery, saying that I should Social Shield, due to multiple long term conditions.

    b) Gov.UK guidelines state that over 70’s should not cruise.

My TA’s attitude was don’t cancel yet, much can change before August 1st.

Well, things did change last week, the Cruise with Confidence was pushed to September 1st.

My TA did ring Celebrity and they extended the date that I need to pay to 5th June.

i would be interested in comments from clients living in UK - has anyone got their deposit refunded?

we were due to sail on 22 march and have been told by out TA that we will not receive a refund  for 90 days  i.e. July😱.

on the other hand I hear people who booked direct with Celebrity have already received refunds .

dont understand why it takes 90 days

Not sure that is so at least in the Uk.

On the email I received it said you could opt for the 100% refund anytime upto the date the FCC runs out so apply before December 31 2021.

My only quibble is when I called to ask for the refund the person I spoke to said she would mark up and pass onto the refund department, I appreciate the refund will take time but I would have liked an email as confirmation I was in the system somewhere.

I had an email from Virgin within 12 hours of my email request.

We were booked on March 23 Reflection  flying out on March 22.

    booked with Cruise 1st

had a call from Cruise 1st yesterday to say that they were starting to process our booking . I said I wanted a full refund rather than credits, he said it would be noted and that I would hear from them in the next few days.

    fingers crossed 🤞😔

Note that you can opt for a cash refund up until the FCC expiration date, which is 31 Dec 2021. Since all future cruises seem to be priced considerably higher than what I paid for my just canceled cruise, that extra 25% may come in handy. So, for now I'm taking the 125% FCC knowing I can always convert it to 'king cash' should I need the money (for a lower priced cruise with a different line).

FCC would be worthless if the company goes under or if you get that you cannot travel or heaven forbid die.

    Give me the cash anyday.

We are 74 and 73 and are still going on our April 11 cruise on Equinox.  We are healthy and feel like we can take precautions to not get sick.  You only have one life to live so you might as well live it.

Total agree with you , we will be there .

seasonal flu kills  over 600,000 people worldwide  every year.

That puts things in perspective for me .

‘You cruise, you get stuck, you pay’ - I think that’s what your government is stating.

Also if what your government is saying is that anyone over 60 with underlying conditions should NOT go on a cruise ship then your travel insurance would be invalidated .

That is what happens here in the  UK if you decide to travel against Foreign  office advice

You will be given a full refund if denied boarding.  I am unsure if they extend this to other guests in the same room as you or not.  No you are not quarantined since they are testing for symptoms, not issuing you a Covid test.  You would be sent on your merry way

    Thanks for that

that is a bit of reassurance , we are both fit and well but if we do get denied we will just stay and have a land based holiday .😊

The only additional health check we had was they scanned everyone's temp prior to going thru the check in process. They held a temp scanner a few inches from your forehead to take your temp.

If your temp is greater than 100.4, there was a secondary screening where they checked your pulse oximetry. Then medical would decide if you could board. The process to screen your temp literally took 2 seconds then you were on your way. 🙂

    Thanks for that .

The big question , which you probably dont know the answer to, is what happens if you are denied boarding ?

Do you just go away or are you put into quarantine ?

Not if they manage it properly. These types of temperature checks just take a couple of seconds, so if they station the checkers by the walk-through security scanners, where there is usually a line up, it wouldn't delay things at all. Of course, it will take a bit longer for anyone running a fever and sent for further screening.

I agree the temperature check will be very quick it is the rest which is not clear.

Potentially there could be hundreds of people with high temperature readings,

Managing them will be a long process.

Also what will happen if they do the secondary screening and you are denied boarding?

Do they have enough  quarantine places ?

Also we have been told it takes 4 days to confirm itis Coronavirus

This summer we used SPB tours for St. Peter and 4 other ports and all tours were very good. I am 72 and wife 69 and we also had two older grandkids with us. We did a two day deluxe tour in St Pete probably 14 people. It does tire you out but well worth it. Only thing I did wrong for the first night I booked a Russian folklore show and then I realized we were already getting tired and knew we had to get up early the next morning and I knew it was to late to get a refund but I still canceled it. Not SPB tours fault mine for trying to do to much.

We did the 2 SPB tour and found it excellent.

There was 8 or 10 , cant remember , in a mini bus much better than the ships mega tours.

agree that you should not book an evening tour on the first night it is a long day.

we got to see so much but it never felt rushed and I think we did a couple of things which the big tours dont do.  Lunch at a pie shop where the locals eat and a trip down the escalators into a subway station, which was like a marble hall complete with Chandeliers .

On out return to the ship on day 2 we were met by one of the company directors thanking us for choosing  SPB.

    Totally recommend SPB

  11. I have just printed my seapass and the C and A level does not appear on the document or even in my edocs.

when I try to add my number it says it is invalid. But my RCL C and A account is showing the correct level and number .

can anyone confirm  that the information is held in the bar code and I will not have an issue at check in and on board.

I remember the Diamond Event was bought in after the outrage that Ds were excluded from the DL (March 2009... I specifically remember that date as the day I turned D was the day they made the announcement....!!!)

Our first D Event was on Navigator later that year. There were about 10 of us sitting in the little card room by VCL and a waiter with a tray of drinks(bubbles, wine and beer).  We then started to compete as to who could bring up tempting plates of food to give them the hint... cheese plates from room service ( it was free then), Sushi from the WJ......

Yes i remember those days .

Diamonds only got wine or beer in a separate room no snacks.

one of our group was D+ and she used to go across to the D+ lounge and bring back plates of snacks.😊
