Shidah, I was not offering to pay you to watch a show. I was talking about staffing issues. Your comment is off topic.

And bringing up an ice show on a competing  brand is on topic?  As much as you discuss devaluing the brand and the lessened customer experience, I don’t understand why you sail on NCL and don’t stick with Royal and Princess?

Back on-topic, you mentioned moving Syds to the main theater. Last three cruises, passengers were overwhelmingly suggesting that, because it is a great show and everyone that tried to get in each night couldn’t.  However what makes Syd’s a great show is the intimacy of the venue, I believe it would flop in the main theater and NCL knows that.  Moving it outside or to the atrium as one of the themed party nights for the prom show would be interesting though.

No one knows for sure the motivation behind NCL changing these shows.  But for people that go on multiple cruises, having them change every now and then is a good thing.

  2. As others have said, watch the website to see how fast Haven suites are filling up and upgrade after final payment, but soon after like a week or two.  The Haven has been been selling out almost every cruise.  Your chances at winning a bid are slim to none.  Pay for the upgrade just try to get it at the lowest price.

Just boarded Encore today, can confirm the change but pool bar still had some bottles of Veuve left. Perhaps unpopular opinion but had a glass of the Pommery in Taste at lunch and it was fabulous!! I honestly prefer it now. Give it a try, you might think the same.

Thanks, looking forward to trying something new!

The whole reason its a fun show is that its in a smaller venue.  You put this show in a space that can fit everyone in seats and it loses the energy that makes it great.  It doesn't feel like a show in that venue.  It feels like you are at your local bar with the house band playing that you have been hanging with for years.

    Agree 100%

  5. It would not be as good of a show in the theater, what makes it is the intimacy of the space.  But, I do think it would work in the area that they have the dueling piano show, and really Howl at the moon has gotten to be extremely lame.  That area could hold more people.

  6. I don’t understand what some people feel calling customer service is going to get them.  It sounds like the ships will not have Veuve on board.  Not that they have it and just won’t give it to you.  Do you expert them to bring aboard a case just for you?  Don’t get me wrong, I love Veuve too, and we always upgrade our package, but also for the upgraded bourbons and gins.

  7. You can swim in the lagoon if you are in the ocean villas.  Your chairs will be on the ocean side, but nothing to stop you from swimming in the lagoon.  The ocean villas are fun since you get to watch the zip liners all day.  The ocean villas previously were 100 cheaper than the lagoon, but since they were just as and sometimes more preferred because of their location, they are the same price now.

  8. Syds is alive and well.  This was an older post.  I think they paused for a week or two over the holidays.  It is a highlight for us and we only book ships with Syds now.  But it is true NCL doesn’t market it much.  It is already a packed house every night with people waiting in line.  If they marketed it more, it would just mean disappointed cruisers.

If they were putting steak knives at the crafting table in the kids club on board, your point might be a valid parallel. If they removed all signage and changed all of the protocols for the pools and hot tubs, your blanket statement about liabilities might carry some weight.

So post signs all over the room not to trip on the pulled out couch, problem solved.

Very well articulated. When these ships were built, the contemplation for pullman beds included the assistance of a steward to manage theses additional beds.

As an attorney, I’m surprised the NCL legal team hasn’t identified this change (keeping the beds down throughout the day and the possibility of passengers trying to pull down or put away the bed) as a liability and hazard moving forward.

We better remove all steak knives, those pools and hot tubs present a danger too.
