  1. I have that now, too. But I’m still have the tab Before you Go. Everything changes so fast. When we cruised last year things were quite different. The best thing is to check the week before you go.
  2. Yes, I believe you are right. On MVJ, our Alaska cruise has the VeriFLY icon under “before you go.” For our Med. Antiquities, there is no VeriFLY icon listed.
  3. Here is what Viking says they require. So yes, the CDC card and Verifly
  4. It just plain makes me sad. We had so much fun on her! My life’s dream. But we move on (although I’m not good at that)
  5. Yes. We don’t sail from Greece until February, but I have been monitoring this. We will be doing the Athens pre-cruise extension, and Viking says this: Note: If you are on a pre-extension, you will be provided with the necessary tests to meet Greece’s testing requirement for cruise travelers before you board the ship
  6. Thanks. On our first Viking cruise, 5 years ago, we got a choice of things, like gratuities, or silver spirits, etc. I have gotten shipboard credit on a few, but not through a promo code. This time, we got final payment 4 1/2 months out on one of the cruises! This is unheard of for Viking. And all I did was ask the agent what was the best he could do for me.
  7. Clay, check again. According to the Viking newsletter I got this morning, it applies to everything. ”Last month, in celebration of our 25th anniversary year, we introduced a $25 deposit for our river voyages. And now, we are expanding this special offer to our ocean and expedition itineraries. With so many destinations to choose from, you can journey to the places that top your travel wish list, in comfort.”
  8. You don’t need a promo code for this, it is the overall July promotion and is listed on the website. I booked two cruises for next year yesterday just calling in. So I wonder what the difference between a promo Cade and the monthly promotion really is?
  9. Personal favorite: Asian Panorama Want to try: Thai Wish they would create: Greece, Spain. And I love the idea of New Orleans!
  10. I would like to see more National menus suggested. Spain, Greece, for two. And maybe Alaska, Hawaiian?
  11. Thank you. Here are the menus for Anthony’s French Bistro and Australia 2.
  12. Here you go: Thanks! For the good of the thread, could you take a picture of the menu and post it here
  13. I just pulled out that menu. It’s just called Mexico, then underneath in small print, “cuisine from the inside out”.
  14. Yes, it’s Route des Indes, #7 on your earlier list. We enjoyed it.
  15. Sorry for the confusion. #14 is not a separate entry, but is the main course of #13, I.e. Wagyu ribs. Yes, I assume there must be an Australia #1, but we didn’t have it.
  16. This prompted me to go back through the menus we had on our 2019 WC. I have all the above, plus “Australia 2” with blue swimmer crab and “Darling Downs” Wagyu beef short rib. There was also another one called Carnival, or something like that, which I remember, but I don’t have the menu for it.
  17. Very often Viking provides shuttle busses to town and back to the ship. It really depends on the port. And some ports you are close enough you can walk back. Also, many times people just want to leave the tour and stay someplace. And that is fine as long as you tell your guide. Last summer was very iffy about what you could do. This year, it’s all much more open.
  18. My husband is a very good amateur photographer. He has always felt that the photo tours were too simple. We did Viking’s Golden Circle tour last summer and he got some spectacular shots, especially of waterfalls. It also included a nice lunch. If you’ve never been to Iceland, that’s where I would recommend starting.
  19. We had this cancel twice during Covid. We are going to book for 2023, Sept. 12. Yes, this is during hurricane season, but we are willing to risk it. We did the Iceland cruise last year, but still want to see Greenland.
  20. I have learned so much here. Glad to pay it forward in a small way!
  21. Once you book a trip with Viking and put it into My Viking Journey, you will find a section called “Before You Go.” Scroll down and you will see Luggage Forward. When you click on it, it will take you to Viking’s special LF page, offering you 20% off. If you do not have a Viking cruise booked, the LF web page can be found here: https://www.luggageforward.com/ This fall, on our trip to the Italian Lakes on our own, will we use them, but without the 20% discount that Viking gives you. It gets a bit pricy that way, so we look forward to using Viking’s discount in Summer 2023 for our Alaska cruise.
  22. When we went on our Iceland cruise last summer, the very first of the Welcome back cruises, I asked this very question. They had it covered. If you end up not going, you call LF and they take your luggage from the holding area and ship it back to you. You have to pay, but if you’ve paid for round trip anyway, there is no added cost. That was enough to make us feel safe about doing it.
  23. Yes, tracking was easy. They give you a little bit of insurance, but we always upped it a bit. Depends what you have in the luggage, and we never had anything besides clothes and shoes.
  24. I have to chime in here and say we have had nothing but the absolute best experience with Luggage Forward. We first had LF offered to us on the domestic leg of our 2019 world cruise and sent our bags to Miami. After that, we were hooked. At the end of the WC we sent the bags home from London on our dime. They arrived 4-5 days earlier than expected. Then we used LF both ways to Iceland last summer. Absolutely nothing but the best experience. Bags waiting in our room when we got on the ship and again, bags arrived at home several days early. Then used them both ways on the Panama Canal cruise over the past holidays. I think that you do lock your bags domestically, but not internationally. (Or maybe vice versa). But never anything but the best experience with LF and as we are getting older, and my husband’s back fussier, I think we will always use them going forward!
