I had Gastric Sleeve Surgery on March 31, 2015.  I lost 120 pounds and have only gained back 12 pounds.  I don't drink anything with carbonation or alcohol and still eat in moderation.  I do however, know several people who have had the surgery that have gained all the weight back.  I don't feel shame because I had the surgery.  it saved my life.  If you don't make a drastic change in your eating lifestyle the weight will come back.

Well, know I know one. 🙂

There's a special on abc tonight about the whole weight loss drug "revolution" hosted by none other than Oprah.

I've talked about the whole weight thing ad nauseam with @MeganGC1983 our formative years were when anorexic thin was in and size 6 Jessica Simpson was getting bashed in the tabloids for being fat. We both have girls - and don't want them growing up with the insecurities and the constant worry of "am I enough" because of their body size. All I want is for them to be healthy, strong, kind, confident and independent. I feel like I'm constantly teetering the line of "this is me, I need to accept it, love myself and just be happy" and "the scale says I'm unhealthy, I need to lose 10-15lbs." BMI is such a mindf*ck outdated way of determining a persons health, yet they still use it. My kids know I workout a LOT, but they think it's because I think it's fun (no, I don't) and I want to be strong. They know mom can squat more than dad. I try my hardest to not let them see me weigh/measure my food. I've been caught before and then they get hung up on reading nutrition labels (even if it's just for fun) and I don't want that for them. But.. as Megan can also vouch, I think every mom friend group knows someone who went to Colombia, or Mexico or Turkey or wherever and had weight loss surgery or a tummy tuck. It's just another unfortunate side effect of our generational upbringing.

I know many people who've had those surgeries. I know nobody that actually kept the weight off long term. So I struggle with trying to get to a healthy weight while also enjoying life. Because what fun is life if I can't try all the foods?

Spent tonight watching my movie on Amazon Prime. If you get a chance, watch it. Good times! Pretty good, if I do say so myself. “Deadland” with Roberto Urbina.

For those who are wondering, this is a good film. Even though half is in Spanish, requiring me to keep my glasses on to read the subtitles.

By little planes are you referring  to those puddle jumpers American uses for the 50 minute flight from Yuma to Phoenix. If so I really have no burning desire to spend more than 50 minutes on one of those, way too noisy inside the flight and SMALL!

I think the ones to DFW are a bit bigger. But still a CRJ type plane. Max seating under 100.

I see better options flying direct from PHX, like half price options. I think you could even do one-way car rental options and still save money.

Thanks to everyone who’s following along! I know it’s a shorty and it’s not the most exciting thing, but I truly appreciate it!

As long as B appreciates it. 😆

Just put a $40 ticket n a slot and it vanished. Waiting on service now.

I hate when that happens. Rather lose it the slower way, one spin at a time.

Connecting thru DFW is one of the options for the time frame I am looking at.  My concern is I am  not familiar with DFW and the connection time is under one hour.  Thanks for the tid bit I will definitely research this more.

Little planes always come in on terminal E. From any terminal to the nearest train entrance is always under 5 minutes. Figmentfreak agrees:

Connections even to different terminals is very quick at DFW. The Skylink can get you to any terminal in under 10 minutes.  It’s a great little train system that’s within the secure area.

I just research what airlines fly nonstop from Yuma to Boston and there  are very few.

ONLY one airline flies out of  Yuma, American.   It is much more economical to book RT with AA than piecing together flights, at least that is what I am finding.  I don't need early  boarding as I make my seat selection when I book.  I travel with just one carry-on no checked luggage.

The worst part are the flight departure/arrival times for nonstop only 2 per day. Plenty of you want to stop change etc and spend 9 or more hours traveling and visiting various airports, not happening at this stage of my life.

I always take the connection through DFW when flying out of Yuma, if possible. PHX can be a nightmare to connect, especially if you end up transferring to Alaska Air. Plus, the seats are more comfortable on the smaller planes.

  8. The kids canceled on us for family dinner tonight. So we went for prime rib at a casino 100 miles away. Got $20 free play between us too.

Food was good, then we turned that $20 into $44. Dinner cost $48. So really we're out $4 and half a tank of gas. Not bad.

We are in DC. Earlier today was one of the worst flights of my life. Completely full SWA flight, and there weren’t 3 seats left together. Andrew and I took the last two on the last row and Brian took a middle nearby. The older businessman on the aisle that I sat next to was not at all happy to have a seatmate (although if it hadn’t been me, it would have been someone else).

He smelled strongly of cigarettes. He also felt entitled to about a third of my seat and made no effort to stay in his own space. His leg was way over the line. He dug his elbow into my arm & side for the entire flight. He wasn’t even overweight, he just apparently did not care. I had to encroach into Andrew’s seat and still got the elbow on the other side. He nearly popped me in the face with it a couple of times as he fidgeted and shifted around constantly and dug in his bag every few minutes. When my tray table was down, his arm was on it.

To make it even worse, just before takeoff, we taxied back to the gate and sat there for an extra hour while maintenance changed an engine air filter. Hours later when the flight was nearly over, the pilot aborted the landing and had to circle back around. I thought that flight would NEVER end.

I've had this happen. The hubs switched seats with me. The encroacher had to deal with my husband's wide shoulders for the rest of the flight. Hubs also took firm control for the arm rest on that side.

Dudes tend to not try smothering other dudes, like they do random women.

We took a pulmonía to Observatorio 1873 when we were there and had a great time. Worth checking out if you haven't been there before.

    Thank you!

I already have plans for my upcoming trip, but this is going on the list for the next trip.

Apologies in advance for the vagueness but some things just aren't meant for the internet. I need some.. I don't even know what I need. Strength and courage I guess. The you know what hit the fan Sunday and I am just in a really, really bad place right now. Physically I'll be fine. It doesn't effect my immediate household, everyone is safe and healthy. Other than that just send me what you can.

Whatever it is, you got this! You can overcome!

  13. I have an 82-year-old (non)MIL. The woman is, and always has been, gullible. Only now she tends to get angry and argumentative easier.

Somedays I think she's either looking for an argument or fiery agreement to whatever she says. Today's subject matter was on the subject of Denver and the reports that the city is going to lay off its workers and hire the illegal immigrants that are taking over the city. And it's only a matter of time before every company will do this.

My reply of, "Oh that's interesting." left her actually deflated.

53 days until my next cruise. I can make it...

Walked across the street for brunch and tried the chile relleno omelette. There was actually a whole stuffed pepper INSIDE the omelette! This was a new - and delicious - one for me.

  16. I spent 6 hours yesterday in a marathon interview. 5 groups of people and one public forum. Holy moly was I worn out. It was me and one other candidate. They made sure we never crossed paths. They even gave me my own handler for the day.

It was actually a very neat experience. Now I just have to hope for the best.

And maybe I can start planning future vacations again soon.

I'm with you. I haven't changed the clock in my car in at least 10 years. Maybe my new car will be easier, but I doubt it. I wonder if it does it by itself...it's so much more techy than my last ride. One can hope.

One good thing about living in AZ, never have to change a clock.
