If they don’t reduce emissions there’s BIG fines and they will blocked from ports. It’s already happening in the Norwegian Fiords. N.Z, California ,Japan and some European ports won’t be far behind. -

Just a couple of domestic cruises on Brilliance and one on Edge this season. Then I might venture overseas . It looks like covid is out of the headlines. -
No it’s not cheap but it’s a convenient alternative to hiring a car or plane. Quite often I read about people having to get from Port Canaveral to Fort Lauderdale to join another ship. I don’t believe there’s a shuttle service it just Taxi . When they put in the station at Coco beach it will be a breeze.

Royal Caribbean now has a partnership with the new Florida high speed train that runs between the the main ports and airports. Use the promo code Royal 15 for 15% discount. I believe they have a ship shuttle at each port. https://www.royalcaribbean.com/faq/questions/what-is-brightline-what-are-its-benefits

Just say they did go to Cairns, wouldn’t there would be a lot more unhappy people. The people I have chatted with onboard are satisfied with the cruise. -

That’s right Ken ,it will happen and to add shipping needs to evolve into a carbon neutral industry. Smaller hybrid or dual fuel ships will be the first step. Ships to do long distance, big fuel burn with no carbon emissions. Not to mention ships that are suitable for environmentally sensitive areas. -
Does Celebrity have Single and Veteran get togethers like Royal ? If so what bar would it be on Edge?

There’s no more overnights, docked in Cairns. I’m hoping in the near future they might let Celebity Edge dock. Apart from that, not much to look forward to with RCG in Australia unfortunately. -

They did have the captains corner in the theatre but it wasn’t very rewarding. English was not the captain’s first language .Most of the questions were answered by the Hotel manager, which was Australian . Maybe he was his translator or something. I remember someone asked about the incoming emission laws .The hotel manager said it doesn’t effect us in Australia ,which is totally wrong. The hotel manager was waffling on about Lelepa. He give the impression that it was just about to open and get ready for it . Which isn’t correct. Even the next cruise channel had a thing about Lelepa. But nothing has happened on the island. I know the cyclone is nothing to do with Royal Caribbean but I thought you might have gotten some kind of public relations thing. My sister is onboard with friends and they have loved it . It’s not what they wanted but that’s life. Im still trying to get my credit off Royal. They are denying they said 100% ,they said it was only 20%. Lucky I kept the letter which says 100% , I Had to email it to them and they said they will get back to me. -

I remember when I lived up there ,the rain sounded like someone throwing gravel on the tin roof ,it was so heavy. The rain was measured in meters but they have broken records lately. -
Yep ,they would be on the ball uncle Les

A way to work out the movement of the ships between America and Australia is to look at some of the port bookings. You might get a hint of what ship could go to California. Having a look a Tahiti port bookings and which ship moving through there . http://www.portdepapeete.pf/previsions-navires Ovation and Quantum doing the transpacific to Alaska And only Anthem Returning to Australia after the Alaska season. The Question is what happens to Ovation and Quantum? Rumours are Ovation is going to Europe and Quantum is going to California. -
I found an interesting article . Whats the nitrogen purge? Is that to flush the fuel lines out ? https://www.sustainable-ships.org/stories/2023/methanol-marine-fuel
-
I know it wouldn’t be an easy thing to convert the engines but some of the marine engine makers like Wartsila say they can. Ethanol is pretty bad on O rings and seals that aren’t compatible. Royal Caribbean in Australia has said, until they can meet emissions they are down grading there services. The long distances here and big fuel burn make it unviable with increasing emission laws. Apparently we will be making green fuels in Australia for the shipping industry soon , Which is promising. https://sungasrenewables.com/sungas-renewables-selected-to-supply-green-methanol-for-new-hydrogen-and-e-methanol-facility-in-australia/

Quantum is currently tendering at Mystery island ,Port Vila and Airlie Beach while in Australia. -
It looks like we will be producing synthetic methanol in 2027 for a ship fuel. https://sungasrenewables.com/sungas-renewables-selected-to-supply-green-methanol-for-new-hydrogen-and-e-methanol-facility-in-australia/
