Thank you for the birthday wishes! I wish I could say it was the best day ever, but I actually spent all morning at the hospital with my DH, Dave, who had a second kidney stone episode yesterday. So most of yesterday was in the ER, he spent the night at the hospital and this morning had another stent put in. The first round came last December. This stone is bigger and since we are scheduled to depart for Italy and our cruise on Explorer a week from today he is having lithotripsy performed on Monday the 20th. Not exactly the best birthday but that is okay as long as we make our trip. Anyway he is comfortable now and we did go to a Sushi restaurant in Detroit tonight for dinner so it wasn't all bad! 😁
I am so sorry to hear about Dave’s kidney stone. I had one and it was the worst pain I had ever experienced in my life. Please tell him I am thinking about him and wishing him a successful lithotripsy and relief. I guess you can really celebrate your birthday on Explorer. We wish we were with you. Much love to you and Dave,Greg and Linda

I just finished watching Baby Reindeer. The acting was brilliant especially the actress who played Martha .I can see her winning an Emmy and a BAFTA.I read about the lead actor .There is a bit of supposition that the story is not totally true and Netflix will not likely have a second season of the series.
And I heard the real life Martha is considering suing the producer/writer saying a lot of it is untrue. I don’t think she stands a chance but they may settle out of court.- 1

Inquiring minds would love to know why he left? His choice or forced out? My speculation is that he did not see eye to eye with Liberty. Cutbacks to entertainment in the future??

Since there are a lot of cat people here...My older daughter got a second cat a couple of days ago. Meet Merlin:
Her existing cat (real name Onyxia because she's all black but everyone calls her Stinky) was used to having my daughter all to herself. There's quite a bit of hissing and growling happening so far from Stinky, but Merlin doesn't seem at all phased by it. My daughter is slowly introducing the cats to each other over about a week before putting them in the same room together.
Beautiful! Welcome to the family Merlin.- 4

Just watched one of the most bizarre, interesting movies, I have ever seen “Poor Things” Emma Stone won the academy award earlier this year for it , very adult with nudity, extremely hard to describe, it is currently on Hulu .
It’s on my list to watch. I hear Emma is fantastic. Watching Baby Reindeer now. Wow that is going to give me nightmares. Makes Glen Close in Fatal Attraction look like a sweetheart.- 2

We had a bit of Mother’s Day drama here that has slowly percolated since Friday morning. We found this cat sleeping in Lucy’s chair Friday morning. Lucy was away on patrol until Saturday afternoon so no issues, right away.
We didn’t feed the newbie and there was water to drink in the puddles.
We didn’t know how they’d do with each other, but we saw this late morning today.
The black cat was loud with meows when Lucy was further away but got quiet when she got closer. We had what we call a Mexican Stand-off most of the day.
At one point I even had peeping eyes looking in.
Glad it all got resolved. I think Lucy would rather be the queen of her domain and have to share it with another cat.- 2

Being a career woman I got married when I was 35. So time was a priority in starting a family.
However;
My first pregnancy ended in a disaster when I started let’s just say losing massive quantities of blood. They were unable to save the baby. Being of the medical profession and also being stupid at times. I refused blood transfusions because I did not want any antibodies interfering with a future pregnancy. So I was discharged on iron 4 x a day and not permitted to drive till my Hgb was above 10 ( um it was 6.5).
This emergency happened on Mother’s Day 1992.
We were given the go ahead late summer to start our family.
Then in September I was pregnant. And had a miscarriage on Sweetest day in October.
I hated holidays. And Mothers Day was very emotional for me. We gave up trying. It wasn’t to be.
But on St Patrick’s day 1994. The spouse was sick as a dog. And I suggested we give it one last attempt to work on the job of getting pregnant. Not just a time for us to bond. ( I was looking at cycles on my calendar. I thought I could be ovulating).
He goes. “ I can’t breathe… and you want to………”I go if we get pregnant we will call the child Ampicillin.
I found out I was pregnant on Good Friday and went into labor on Christmas Eve.
Meet our ampicillin ( Christina). Soon to be 30.
Now. Life happens for a reason.
Had I had those first two children chances are we would have never known Christina.
Meet Ampicillin (Christina)
I am blessed.
I LOVE MOTHERS DAY.
HAPPY MOTHERS DAY -
To all who have any role in raising children.
💕
What heartbreaking story but thank god for the happy ending. Your daughter is beautiful and I am sure the joy she brings you is priceless.
Linda had similar problems. We lost our first child with a miscarriage and then the second time Jonathan was born but right after delivery she went into post eclampsia and at one point her stitches broke where they did the c section and she almost bled to death. They were able to get her in for emergency surgery and I can’t tell you how relieved I was when the doctor said she got repaired good. Needless to say the doctor advised against having any more children so Jonathan is our only child.

Happy Mother’s Day to all who post here. We are celebrating tomorrow as my son has to work today. I did go to our favorite donut shop to get Linda some donuts. I was amazed that everyone else decided to do the same. There was a line of over 30 people outside the shop. Luckily they had a large staff working and plenty of donuts. We will be relaxing today and maybe go shopping for some more hosta’s for our backyard. We have gotten into a tradition of buying flowers and planting them on Mother’s Day.
Cheers to all the good moms out there.

We’re in Northwest AR and saw some pink by camera only. This was about 9 p.m. We later drove out past the city lights but unfortunately didn’t see anything around 11 p.m. Tonight we might try outside the city around 9 since that time seemed better.8 hours ago, Ocean Boy said:I'll try again tonight.

I talked to my wife’s cousin today who got some good pictures of the northern lights. She said it looked completely dark and a black sky by the naked eye. But if you take a picture of the horizon with auto exposure the camera will pick up the colors. I thought was interesting as last night when we were driving around we did not see anything.- 1

That sucks. They are supposedly visible again tonight. You could kind of see what was going on with your eyes, but if you open up your camera on your phone, that’s when they really became visible.
I hope you guys have better luck tonight.
We were bummed as others in our city had success. We will try again tonight. We drove about 30 minutes outside the city to get away from the light pollution but did not see anything.- 1

Today is my first full day as a temporary bachelor. Micheline is visiting our daughter in Cincinnati for a couple of weeks to help her work in her 130 year old house. What will I do with my free time? Replace the light fixtures in our closet. 🤷♂️
I decided for dinner last night to make a smash burger on the grill, using a griddle insert. It was tremendous. I'll definitely be doing that again.
Thats a great looking smash burger. Love those.- 1

Yes Explora is all inclusive other than some high end wines and drinks. Regarding the wifi, each guest can connect 3 devices simultaneously.
So no need for drink package as cocktails are included except for some high end bottles stuff?- 1

Just took a quick look at a sailing on the Wonder next January and a JS on the Wonder is about the same price as a suite on the Explora Journey on a 7 or 8 day sailing in the same month. That price on the Wonder also does not include the drinks, internet and specialty dining that you would need to add to even get a somewhat close comparison. It's definitely more than a balcony but if you add the drink package, specialty dining and internet to a balcony you are getting close.
So Explora if I understand this right is all inclusive and includes Drinks, Wi-Fi, and specialty restaurants? Then if you added all those to a Wonder sailing the prices would be comparable? -

As long as there is no serious health concerns, it seems like a minor price to pay for enjoying life. Especially since it's a temporary inconvenience and only happens occasionally when vacationing.
I swish that were the case. It ends up being very annoying and hurts somewhat. Also gets very hard to put on shoes.- 1

How much water do you drink? For every alcohol drink I try to have a glass of water. It helps when I remember to do it. Lol
Probably not enough. In Hilton Head I did drink a little more water but maybe I am still not drinking enough.

as little alcohol and salt as possible
That's part of the problem in that I like my food and good cocktails. Now while I don't eat as much rich food during the week and I only drink alcohol on the weekends I never have a problem. It's only on a cruise and now a vacation full of fun food and drink. I just want to have fun right?

When I was in Tokyo for a week that’s what I noticed too. Spotless everywhere. The other thing I was impressed with were the subways. The areas and subway cars were so clean. Even more so with all the people when a subway car came into a stop and the doors opened everyone was orderly in exiting and entering. Everyone was so respectful of each other. Americans could learn a thing or two by visiting this wonderful country with its people and culture.
