  1. Dear Anniversary #25 Thanks for your review. We are taking this trip next August 20th. First time on American Cruise Line. Previously chose American Queen Voyages, but they have gone out of business cancelling all future cruises. Appreciate your candor about getting on/off at the ports and stair climbing is an issue for my husband. I was told they had a golf cart to assist. Are you aware of this? We are both in our early 80's so not running around too much for excursions. Hop On/Hop Off bus will be just fine for us. This trip is Anniversary #60 for us. Will look at the pictures of the menu and activities. If a challenge, I will leave husband on board and go off by myself. I am certain that other guests will be friendly.
  2. On the Rotterdam for a partial Panama Canal transit on February 4th. I know about the changes for Cayman Islands and Aruba. Has anyone heard about any other changes. Having been to so many islands so many times, as well as a full transit 20 years ago, this cruise was more an opportunity to get out of the cold winter February of Maryland., but I did want to see the new structure of the Canal. I may just stay on the ship and relax.
  3. Thanks for the information. We liked the magicians and comedians. My husband does not like the Beatles, but we find entertainment in the various lounges. Only taking this cruise because we had a serious price-drop on our cruise from last September. NCL gave us a FCC to be used before Sept 16th. We are in Maryland and convenient to sail out of Manhattan.
  4. We were on the Joy last September and they cancelled Footloose for that cruise. Did not give a reason but I suspect that the cast members were sick. We did see Elements and is is a great show. We are scheduled again on the Joy on July 1st and were looking forward to seeing Footloose. Hopefully, it is available for that sailing. Will be very disappointed if it is cancelled.
  5. We were on the Joy last September and were on Deck 14. It was a Haven category, so a different cabin experience. But to answer your question, I too, do not like to be under the pool and I like a midship cabin. It was a perfect location regarding noise. We are sailing again on July 1st to Bermuda and Orlando, in a Club Balcony Suite on Deck 14 with a central location. It should be fine. I did not find the elevators particularly crowded. We liked the look of the Observation deck, even though it required an elevator ride to get there.
  6. We are on Deck 14 in a Haven category (H1) sailing shortly. Advertised on all the sites as >400 sq feet plus larger balcony. It's my first tine in a Haven category. I totally dislike the front/aft of the ship and always aim for a mid-ship cabin. While the Haven courtyard is 4 decks up, I don't think I will mind going up there for access to the restaurant, pool and lounge. We will see. Got lots of offers to bid-up to a cabin in the Courtyard, but did not want to spend any more money and we like our location.
  7. We have sailed on Celebrity for many years and done the Reflection which was a great trip and a beautiful ship. We are sailing on the Joy in a couple of weeks, so if you can wait until mid-Sept to book, I will be happy to give my honest opinion between the two ships. We have previously done the Panama Canal on Princess. My only suggestion now is to be certain that you go all the way through the canal. Don't take a trip that only goes to Gantaun Lake and turns around.
  8. We are in Haven. Does the Haven dining room serve lunch on embarkation day?
  9. Thanks for this wonderful review. We are headed on the Canada/New England cruise in less than two weeks and looking forward to it. Our first cruise in 2 1/2 years. Not certain it will be warm enough to swim or do water aerobics, my favorite, but I do it in 4 ft of water.
  10. Thank you for the information on the ice cream. I, too, find it a daily essential service.
  11. We are sailing in a Haven category on Sept. 6th. Had multiple conversations with dedicated Concierge for Haven/Suite guests. Yes, they will supply distilled water for CPAP machines. You just need to ask. They do have extension cords. You need to request, but advised that they could run short. Suggested that I bring a six foot non-surge extension cord. We have one from a previous trip which also doubles as a charger with USB ports and extra outlets. Purchased on AMAZON.
  12. We are sailing on the Joy on Sept. 6th leaving out of Manhattan. No flying for us either. Taking AMTRAK with one night pre-cruise in a hotel. Love reading everyone's experiences. We are Celebrity cruisers, and this will be our first NCL in a number of years. We are going to be Haven guests so it is nice to read the reviews and comments.
  13. Thank you for your comprehensive review. We are sailing on Sept. 6th and your comments are most helpful. Interesting about the wait staff and the Footloose presentation.
