  1. Thank you, Rich, for today's Daily. My Tooth Fairy would leave me 25 cents per tooth and I thought I had a fortune! I kid you not, I recently heard a boy say that the Tooth Fairy left him $50 per tooth! Now THAT's inflation!! I was supposed to be in Cartagena, Spain in the fall of 2020 -- I had a nice walking tour all mapped out and everything. Well, we all know how THAT turned out! I hope to get there one day, but until then, I enjoyed all the pictures. Thank you for the lists, Roy. Congratulations for all who are celebrating -- Graham, I hope you and Pauline have a lovely dinner with Sarah tomorrow. Prayers for all who need them. Speaking of dining, there were customers at the Dogwood Diner yesterday -- table for a party of 5, please!
  2. My PCC was kind enough to tell me about his departure, but I STILL get emails from HAL with his info. REALLY??
  3. I like today's selection of days and the contributions from the food & beverage department. Today's quote reminds me of the old saying - "Absence makes the heart grow fonder." Not sure I agree with that. Wishing everyone a beautiful day. Prayers raised for all who need them, and especially that Shadow has been found!
  4. Hi friends! I've had a few busy days because my son is moving the remainder of his stuff into my house on Saturday, so there's been a flurry of activity trying to make space for it! I like the days - the only time I ate smores was on Girl Scout camping trips, and they were delicious ! we also made dinner packets that we cooked in the campfires. Good times! Prayers for everyone in harm's way around the world. Wouldn't it be lovely if we all could live in peace? A little sad today because I got word that a member of my church -- a 99-year-old veteran of WWII -- died this morning. We just sang Happy Birthday for him a few weeks ago and he said he hoped to make it to 100. RIP Loren! I've started getting some surprising emails lately connected to my long-since-cancelled cruise on the Volendam that would have happened later this month. I've gotten notices from the airlines (Icelandic and Delta) reminding me of the reservations and protocols! I made the arrangements through Flight Ease, so shouldn't they have notified the airlines that the trip was cancelled? Do I have any liability if they didn't? I wouldn't think so, but...? Stay well & safe everyone!
  5. Interesting days! I prefer wine to beer, underwear -- don't leave home without it! lol! and I love oysters - the grilled version in New Orleans are my favorite! Had an interesting experience with HAL customer service today. First I called the PCC number & put in my late, great agent's extension. Got the message that he was no longer was with HAL (sniff!) & I would be tranferred to another PCC. Well after a short 10-minute wait, I was connected to a Princess agent!! She was as confused as I was & gave me the number for HAL customer service. Nope, she couldn't connect me, so I had to call back in. Another 10 minute wait to get an agent who ended up telling me that no, I couldn't rebook my 2023 VoV under the "Book Early" promo. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, I was disconnected. Decided to eat my lunch & cool down a bit. Called back Customer Service & an agent picked up the line after 15 minutes. She actually said I could do it, but it would cost me more. I knew that and asked for a quote, which the previous agent never provided, even though I asked her twice. Quote provided & with the inclusion of the HIA & the Book Early, it doesn't seem that outrageous. Texted my traveling companion (Sis) and waiting for her response. We'll see! On a more peaceful note, here's a visitor that came to the bufferfly buffet yesterday, before the storms hit.
  6. I'm sure this is covered in an earlier thread, but I wasn't able to find it. What are the current crew appreciation rates? I'm trying to decide if the Book Early & Save offer is worthwhile. Thank you!
  7. @MISTER 67 I've actually been in St. Petersburg, Russia more than the FL location!! LOL!
  8. Another meme I can relate to! Wishing everyone a good day.
  9. Oh no! Say it ain't so!! Have you heard directly from him, by any chance?
  10. Wow - made it before noon today! Thanks to everyone that makes this such a special, caring spot. This meme speaks to me!
  11. We were lucky. Very little damage on our side of town, but just a mile or two away, the winds did quite a lot - trees crashing through roofs, crushed cars, etc. But other parts of the state were even worse. Thumper was fascinated with the weather report on tv...
  12. Good afternoon, Dailyites! I think cows are sweet (those eyes!) and appreciate all they give us. A few years ago I found the Etch-A-Sketch I played with as a kid and contributed it to the thrift shop. I hope some little one enjoyed as much as I did. If I forget my reusable bags at the grocery store, I try to remember to ask for paper bags rather than plastic, if they're available way. Either way, they cost 5 cents apiece! Does anyone else remember using paper bags to make book covers for school? Prayers for all who need them, and a heartfelt "Hurray" for all who are celebrating! Edi
  13. Rabbit, Rabbit, White Rabbit! Happy Canada Day to our Northern friends. @lindaler Welcome back! Glad you've settled into your new home. I love zoos -- the San Diego zoo is the best one I've seen, I think. Got a late start on the Daily today -- Had to take my alpha cat Thumper to the cat dentist to get three teeth pulled. This day is going to cost lots of $$, I'm afraid! But he's worth it. He's on the left in the picture below. My other kitty, Lola, is enjoying a day not being chased - lol!!
  14. @rafinmdRoy - Happy Birthday from the other side of the county line! After last night's rain, the sun "should" come out later today, according to the weather report. Also, Happy Birthday to @VMax1700 - lucky you to have a birthday on a BHB! As a widow, I want to thank everyone on the Daily for all the love and support I've received during the journey. Such an kind and caring group is a rare find and I won't "Let it go!" Thanks to everyone that make this such a special spot. Prayers for all who need them, and cheers for all who are celebrating! Edi
  15. I recently received an email from the gentleman that conducted bridge classes & duplicate bridge sessions on the San Diego to FLL cruise last October. He reported that he will be on board for this year's Voyage of the Vikings (July 9-Aug 13) and the Grand Africa Voyage (Oct 10-Dec 10). So there's hope!
  16. Here's a picture of three generations from 1985 -- my DH, his Dad. and our DS. I think we were celebrating "Pop-Pop's" birthday. Glad I still have DS to kiss! Nice celebration of Father's Day and Juneteenth at church this morning. Have a good day!
  17. Was it just that they had received your email? I got that too, but still waiting to hear that the OBC has actually been added to my account.
  18. One of the best excursions I ever took was last October in Manzanillo to the sea turtle rescue center. There we helped baby turtles into the sea. After getting washed around on the beach, my "grandturtle" finally made it into the water & swam off. I instructed my late DH to serve as a guardian angel for the little guy & make sure he/she survives! If I can find some pictures, I'll show you how itty bitty these babies are -- a miracle that any of them survive!
  19. I snail-mailed my. request for my October cruise on May 24. Sent a follow up email two weeks later. Got an email on June 8 that my email had been received, but due to the high number of emails received, it might take them longer than usual to respond. Since then, nothing. Guess I'll email it all again tomorrow & see what happens. Sigh!
  20. You may have seen this by now, but the US will lift the requirement to have a negative covid test for re-entry, effective midnight on Sunday. Gamechanger!
  21. I'm a little late for this today but, Rabbit, rabbit, white rabbit! Thanks for the Daily, Rich, and thanks to Roy for keeping us updated with the lists! And many thanks to our food & beverage departments and, last but not least, our garden club! We have a wonderful caring, sharing community here!
  22. Hi friends! This past week marked the first anniversary of DH's death, so DS & I marked the event by going to one of DH's favorite restaurants for lunch yesterday & ordering his favorite meal -- cream of crab soup, hush puppies, crab cake, cucumber salad, and onion rings. On the way home, we stopped at his favorite ice cream stand for soft serve. Along the way, we shared stories of a life well-lived. It gave us some needed closure to a rough year. DH & I were in Raiatea on the Eurodam's first visit there in 2019. Our pictures were almost identical to those posted by @Quartzsite Cruiser, so I won't post any. Luckily, I don't think there was an ambulance there on our visit! Prayers for so many of our dear ones that need them, and cheers for all who are celebrating! Stay well and safe! Edi
  23. Hi friends! I'm finally re-entering reality after getting home from the river cruise late last Thursday. Sadly, housekeeping and meal service becomes my job again. Sigh! Sis & I had a great time, but we need another vacation to recover from this one. LOTS of walking, with all the city tours. My sister said she finally understands why I love sea days! Still, the food was wonderful, the staff was friendly, and we saw places I never expected to see! Our last stop before flying home was Munich, so the tour company arranged for all of us to get tested at the hotel. Out of a group of 40, 10 tested positive! And we had been required to wear masks whenever we were out of our cabins, except for meals, so I don't know how so many caught the bug! Luckily, sis & I were fine, but I felt sorry for those that had to spend more time than expected in Germany! Prayers for everyone that needs them and cheers for those who are celebrating, especially those getting ready to board our BHBs! Edi
