We had the SBP as part of our 4Explore package.  Had we paid for the package, we would not have gotten our moneys worth.  We did have specialty coffees more than we usually do and it was nice to not worry about what we were ordering.  However, two or three drinks a day, plus bottle waters, plus specialty coffee would not make up the $50.00 per day cost.

I agree, we have the explore 4 this coming cruise. We priced it out with and without the explore 4, and it was an ok value to just leave it on. The last cruise ( which was our first HAL cruise) we got the quench package. It was a much better fit for us. I think it did save us money just on the sparkling water alone.

  2. Instead of stuff this year for Christmas, we gave the kids a cruise March23-31. This will be our second HAL cruise. We booked a lido deck cabana, we figured the teens would rather be near the pool then up in the retreat, I have book the laundry package ( to save clothes everywhere) we have the SBP and we ordered the quench package for the teens. Prepaid the gratuities booked dinner at each specialty restaurant. The ports we are going to are ones we go to when we go and stay in Mexico, so the kids are not into excursions there, they rather explore the city a bit then have the ship to themselves. So have I missed anything?

I know that policy states that beverages on HMB are excluded from the SBP. Is that also true for the Quench items? So if I want waters, or sparkling waters on that day, I have to bring from ship?

The quench drinks were not included on HMB, we did bring bottles of water and cans of pop off the ship. We then ordered a bucket of beer so we could have an ice bucket of ice to put them in. As we left the island we left the unopened bottles with some staff.

  4. We travel with our kids a lot who now are teens, not in the suites but in regular rooms and the couch beds are fine even for our now 17 year old. Last Easter was our first HAL cruise and we did order the quench package, we were informed everyone in the room had to have it even the kids, but they did get a lot of use out of it so much so this time we have the SBP, ( and again were told again they had to get the quench then)

If La Croix is something your teen drinks regularly and is going to want it on the ship, you can bring it on board with you. It just has to be packed in your carry-on luggage.

We bought him the quench package, he can suck it up 😉

  6. We took our teens on HAL ( veddaam) last Easter, they were 13 and 16, they enjoyed it, not because of what HAL offered ( the teen program sucked) but because of the friends they made. We have also done many Disney cruises , we are going back over our spring break, which is March 24-31

We always choose the package deal. This way you can bring less clothes. Most times if laundry goes out in the morning, it will be back in the evening.

We did our last cruise also, 2 teens and 2 adults in 4 carry ons and 2 back packs for 10 days, this time we are trying for 1 checked bag and 3 backpacks . The $7 a day laundry package was a great deal for the four of us.

  8. Our last cruise over Easter last year on the Veendam there were 80 teenagers, I am not sure the other group numbers. But the one  person they had in there for them it was her first cruise. She said there were too many of them and just locked the door and told them to hang out in the basketball court. The teens were left up to their own.

We are cruising with our two teens. We booked under the Explore 4 promo. Does that mean we will Be charged for two Quench packages for our girls? Thanks!

We were told we had to buy them for our 2 for our March cruise

sorry if this is a repeat question - we have the explore 4 promotion for an upcoming cruise.  2 adults, and 2 kids (13,14) - for the beverage package, do all 4 of us receive it or just guest 1,2 -- and 3,4 (kids) we'd have to purchase a package for if we want/need too.

    tia

We have it too for the 4 of us for spring break, its just guest 1 and 2., on your reservation it will list on the bottom your perks and numbers beside them like  pinnacle grill will say 1,2 beside it too. We have also pre purchased the quench package for the kids

Interesting how HAL has made a subtle change since first introducing the Quench package. At that time they announced that:

    • Quench Beverage Package features unlimited nonalcoholic beverages that include any juices, bottled water, nonalcoholic cocktails, nonalcoholic beers and specialty coffees for a price of $17.95 per person, per day.

We had it last Easter and were charged for non alcoholic beer, i actually brought up that list ans showed the beverage manager., ( i had printed it) he told me that was a third party website not on Hal’s site and of course i didnt have internet to pull it up that it was on hal’s blog site

Caution:  if you order distilled water onboard from the beverage dept.,  it's around $10 per gallon!  I usually will purchase a gallon for less than $1US before boarding,  and if I need more during a cruise I try to find it at port stops.  It can be challenging to find but look for it in the cleaning section of larger grocery stores or in pharmacies.

    Its no where near $10
