  1. Totally agree, 1030 hrs is a little early to be comfortable.
  2. Hijack Alert! Northern lights is on my bucket list. What's the best cruise for that, route, time of year, etc?
  3. Frequently discussed and there's no clear answer for everybody. There's something to be said for convenance, also. I just paid $72 for a Thanksgiving cruise. It had been $68 and $78. I'm not sure I would pay more than $80. Between, a couple of bloody Mary's, few beers, pre-dinner cocktail, dinner wine, cappuccino, post dinner cocktail, and waters it all adds up. We also like to have a bottle of wine in the cabin for a glass on the balcony at sunset and 40% off a bottle makes onboard almost reasonable.

  6. Totally true, in fact I still have the receipt from our first cruise for our honeymoon in January 1979 on Sitmar TSS Fairsea. An inside cabin was $998 pp for a seven day Mexican Riviera. That was a little less than my monthly salary per person.
  7. Our November cruise on Wonder didn't get all the excursions up until around June or July.
  8. In July on Navigator there were no mask and it was capacity controlled. We signed up the GD's on embarkation day and then just took them when they wanted to go. Once we had to wait for a few minutes while two kids left so they could go in. Another night we got there about 20 minutes before AO opened and debated rather to leave and come back or hang out. Within a few minutes there started a line so we hung out. By the time AO opened there was no way everybody in line was getting in.
  9. I goes down the more devices you add. Our last cruise I debated between three or four devices. When I priced it out the #4 device was only $5 per day extra. You will have to check your cruise to get an exact cost.
  10. Done it twice and it's our least favorite port. Both sailings had horrible weather, once the day leaving and once the day coming back. We sailed once in February and the other in January. Lost an entire last at sea day coming back due to heavy rain and wind (no deck time). Once we were a day away from port the weather was good and seas were calm.
  11. Been in three OS on Oasis, Allure, and Oasis. Only con was the distance to the SL/CK. The shower is a little small for such a big cabin, but I can live with it. The balcony is amazing as is the living/dining area. You will be spoiled and never want anything else again. We have an OS on the Wonder next month and I'm interested to see how it compares since it's on the same floor as SL/CK.
  12. Looks like they do, but it's under the Sutter Home name and not Fre. Fleet wide wine list and Gifts & Gear is only showing the Sutter Home non-alcohol wine available. Sutter Home makes Fre. http://media.royalcaribbean.com/content/en_US/pdf/Domestic_Wine_List.pdf
  13. I'm not sure why people are so set on staying near Fisherman's Wharf or the port. SF is such a compact city there's many many better places to stay outside of that area. You can stay just about anywhere in the City that is a ten minute Uber to Fisherman's Wharf. We use to do long weekends in the City a couple of times a year and the FW/port area is pretty much the last area I would stay, outside the Tenderloin. Financial District and Union Square were our choices. Great places to eat and less touristy than FW area. But that's just my opinion.
  14. You guess correctly only in OS on Oasis, Allure and in November Wonder. If you pay for an OS no matter the ship you should get free wifi.
  15. Our roll call had a couple of people who canceled due to the downgrade. I think we got to keep our OS because we had deposited back in November 2019 for a family Thanksgiving cruise for 2020. We all know how that turned out. We kept getting rolled over to other dates and ships with finally ending up on Wonder. It will be interesting to see how the location of the OS compare to the locations on Oasis and Allure. I think it will much better because of the proximity to SL and CK.
  16. We have never been asked for the "other" parents permission letter. RCCL has a form on their www site they want signed and notarized if the minor is traveling without parent and we always have it but nobody has asked. Luckily, our GD have passports and the same last name. So maybe they think we are their very old parents. Many years ago our son and grandson cruised with us after our DIL passed away. GS was only eight and we took all the documents. Nobody asked.
  17. I would feel your pain, but in the past they have gone by either deposit or final payment date as to who gets to pull rank. This happened to us once before and we never knew people got bumped. I know people on our roll call that were in CLS and OS that were moved to a GS. I have to assume somebody in a GS got downgraded to a JS.
  18. I agree with you about GS and above. But we have always had internet (two device) included when we have an OS.
  19. I would have been Ok with a GS and some perks/OBC. Not sure I would have taken the switch without some healthy kick backs. JS no way! I would have moved ships and kept my OS that I got for $3500 pp on Black Friday sale. True they did reduce the CLS the most because there were more of them than OS. I almost went for a CLS rather than a OS as we have never been in a CLS. Sure glad I didn't.
  20. As recall it's on the very last tab before you pay for it. There's a drop down menu to pick number of devices and the cost in your cart will change accordingly. As pointed out, ignore the "Sales" banners and just watch the price. If you think it's a good deal then buy it.
  21. Ash Street parking is usually the cheapest, but can sell out. Try https://www.cheapairportparking.org/ For those dates looks like $20 per day is a bargain.
  22. Your response was directed at my question about best HoHo routes. Sorry, if you didn't realize I hijacked the OP. It's clear you have vast experience visiting Paris, probably more than anybody in this thread. This will be our first visit and sadly only three days there before we must move on to Lyon to catch our river cruise. As unadvisable as it might be, we have to cram in as much as possible in a short time as we never know when we might be able to get back. There's so much to see in the World and so little time.
  23. Welcome to CC and cruising. It will become an addiction I assure you. Yep, it seems shore excursions haven't been coming online until closer to sailing. If you plan to use texting between your companion and yourself then you will want two device wifi so you can both be on line at the same time. Cheaper for one person to buy it and make it a two device plan. Our recent cruise I did the four device plan and the fourth device was only $5 per day with the multi device discount. I totally agree to watch for major holiday sales for extras. Just on Labor Day the DBP went down a little for the day.
  24. A lot fewer OS also. We worried with all the fleet changes and itinerary shifts our Harmony OS we had booked would disappear when they moved us to the Wonder. I would have been OK with a downgrade to a GS with a large perk to make up the difference. But, no worries still got moved to an OS. It's nice the OS are now part of the suite area in CK and SL. I don't have to walk as far to SL. Can't wait for Thanksgiving.
