That's strange that you couldn't have your platinum bottle. I just saw this on a NCL Dawn FB group  someone got a response from NCL saying guests with Pre-paid beverage packs would be served.

FINE PRINT MATTERS.....However in certain ports of call which will be specified ONBOARD (in other words stop emailing and calling us as we don't know).....so they are not explaining which ports or why you may or may NOT get served even with the Plus package.

You can read it on this very thread:

"We are on vacation and like to have a drink. We have visited guest services to complain, their stance is, it’s the law, it’s nothing to do with duty and HMRC."

People are assuming NCL has given accurate information to Guest Services. As a former crew member of several lines I can tell you there is often a complete disconnect from shoreside and ship crew.

Dinner with the officers scheduled for a port day with no alcohol probably won't have left port long enough.

Getting serious when they make moves to avoid comping a bottle of wine to their most loyal customers.

Can't wait to hear the lies they tell you! (yes, crew lie to guests.....SHOCK!)

The costs could, in theory, be recouped by having different pricing when in port. So this explanation would presumably have to be coupled with the cruise line not being prepared to implement the necessary systems to do this?

This would not be feasible for those with the drink packages. Yes, if you have the regular drink package anything up to $15 is included, but if you have the Plus package EVERYTHING is included so that wouldn't work.

I refer ti Veuve because that is the champagne that they served. It is a good champagne, but other brands are available. Pommery sounds good, although there really should be a non Rose option.

According to the NEW Drink Menus Pommery Rose is now the ONLY Champagne available.

On the BA in March Diamonds were offered a cocktail event which was a tasting of 8 sustainable cocktails.  Yes, they were made from everything like used coffee grounds to fruits rinds.  Only one was halfway drinkable, the others, a sip was all I could stomach.  But I saw people drinking them and at a premium price!  My advice is, if you are invited to this event, don’t go.  Likewise the wine tasting was pretty awful, also.  The only thing I found drinkable was the Santa Margarita (?) Pinot Grigio.  It was nicely done but the wines were disappointing.

The nice thing about having the PLUS package is I can order and taste anything and if I don't like it order something else. This way I can avoid all the tasting classes...lol

I was just researching some of the options on the list and we definitely will expand our horizons and try brands we never had before. What are some must-tries in your opinion?

Well we love Irish Coffees so I'll try some high-end whiskies in them. They also have a bar that makes cocktails from "kitchen leftovers" on Prima I am really looking forward to

  8. We go in July on Prima so maybe there is time they "correct" some of these choices. But the PLUS is still worth it to us with the additional internet, specialty dining and excursion discounts. Will I miss Vueve? YOU BET! But there's still plenty of other boozy options......maybe I'll discover a new fave!

It sometimes helps to limit the search to titles only - very few thread titles in the RCI section with “magician” in it.

It sometimes helps to realize a new post addressing the same topic doesn't have the same theme thereby deserving a new thread. My topic isn't the attack, it's the poor response from RCCL to the artist.

  10. Thermal suite is package for 11 days is $349 which is only $31 a day...but as we only have 2 sea days and are doing excursions in most ports would I really ever get the time to enjoy the suite before dinner??? Deciding if it's worth it or just trying for a day pass onboard. REALLY REALLY want to hear from people that have done this specific itinerary. We will be in July if that matters.

Just because you CAN do something doesn't mean you SHOULD. Its unfair to those behind you in line, plain and simple. NCL likely won't stop you, but that doesn't make it the right thing to do.

I'm sorry...I disagree (and as a former crew member as well as paying guest). First off, I hate that any venue on any ship requires guests to stand in line wasting 90 min-2 hours of their precious vacation time just to get in....but that is another discussion.

There is NO REASON 6 people need to stand in line blocking passageways and all being miserable when one person of the group is willing to do so (Personally I will never stand in line that long so you won't see me there....rather be enjoying the rest of the ship). The person waiting for the group should obviously tell those behind them there will be additional people joining before the doors open (I would NEVER suggest they save chairs inside once seated). You say "it's not a written policy"....but saving deck chairs for those not there beyond 30-60 min IS a written policy so my comparison is valid. If it's not written than YOUR interpretation is just that. And no more valid or invalid than mine.

  12. Spending several days in London before our cruise to Iceland....in order to save on packing I could wear all my shirts in London then send them to be washed and pressed (not dry cleaned) on Prima when we board. What are the rates for sending laundry out and what is the turn-around time? And if you used it were you happy?

Why ask the question if you don't want to hear the answer? As CruisinSusan70 says, there is a difference between being able to get away with doing something and having that something be the courteous thing to do. Common etiquette isn't always stated in writing so if you only refrain from things that are expressly prohibited, you should be just fine.

Great response. Thank you. So now my question is what (or who) stops 1 person from standing I  in line for multiple guests? If everyone is in line 90 minutes that is lots of food, drink, jewelry, etc sales they are losing out on

Different people like different things.  We didn't mind putting in the time since they were the best entertainment on the ship by a long run. You can only eat so much and drink so much so standing for 90 minutes to obtain the best seats was OK for us.

Light Balance, Press Your Luck, Supermarket Sweep and Beat the Clock were all entertainment choices mentioned by NCL that never came to fruition and Noise Boys is also already gone with no replacement. The other musical choices on board were ok, but nothing compared to the 4 singers and 4 musicians at Syd's.

And not going at you personally...just questioning the reasoning
