Thought about that too but couldn‘ believe they give some premium area to the Crew. But good for them.

I've been crew on ships that had crappy crew areas and some that had premium crew areas. Trust me, crew are much happier when they have some nice places to enjoy away from passengers eyes.

    And mysteries continues...

We will remember last May when the booking of the Prima were released, the very first cruise advertized was  Amsterdam to Reykjavik, August 17 to August 25.

And there was never a cruise scheduled for August 25 to Septemper 3. We all agreed that this would be a private cruise.  Then, about 1 month ago, without explanation, the August 17 cruise was removed from the NCL website.  But on both CC and FB for that cruise, people that are booked on it are still planning to cruise as they never received any contrary indications from NCL.

On March 18, NCL announced that the Prima will be christened in Reykjavik.  No specific date, only said in August 2022.

Now this:  According to the Port of Reykjavik schedule, the Prima will dock at 7h00 am on August 24 (The August 17 cruise was scheduled to arrive Reykjavik on the 25th)

She schedule also shows that the Prima will depart at 7h00 pm, August 28.  So the ship will stay in port for 4 days for the Christening event?   If that schedule is correct,  the private cruise that will be called the innaugural cruise, will be only on invite for travel partners, will be a 6 nights cruise from Reykjavik to Amsterdam.  May be the people that are invited on the innaugural sailing will be allowed to board the ship a day or two before and the christening ceremony will be done during that time.

Unless the Reykjavik port schedule is wrong but I doubt it.

Anyone have ever seen a ship staying in port multiple days for the christening ceremony?

During his video, Danny from Harr Travel mentioned that he was booked on the "Innaugural" cruise.

As he was invited to tour the ship, he is probably on the invite list for this private cruise after the christening.  May be he could shed some light on that itinerary.

When I did the HAL Eurodam New Build we sailed from Venice to Southhampton with no guests. Picked up VIP/Travel Agents there and sailed to Rotterdam for the Inaugural. Stayed there a few days and then sailed to Copenhagen to start our Baltics cruises.

I presume that initially, there will be short rides around the Fincantieri shipyard. Then, they will sail from Marghera to Southampton where they have a 2 day cruise for European travel agents (it is presumed that this cruise will go from Southampton to Amsterdam).  That should be long enough to call it a sea trials.  During that journey, there will be lots of Ficantieri employees on board to finish what they had not finished yet and to fix what ever will go wrong.  I also presume that the majority of the crew will be onboard for that voyage. Crew needs to be trained on the new ship.  Venice to Southampton must be at least an 8 day journey without stopping anywhere. The ship must arrive Southampton no later than August 12. So I presume that the first sea trial will occur no later than mid July.

When I did the HAL Eurodam New Build in the same ship yard I boarded 2 weeks before we left Venice and all Sea Trails were long done and cosmetics were starting to be finished. (I was the Stage Manager onboard) We had another week sailing to Malaga as our first trash dump then to Southhampton to pick up our first passengers (travel agents and VIPs) to sail to Rotterdam for our Inaugural. I would assume this won't be very different.

I was also (a bit) shocked when they said the ship was 80% ready.  And, with the pictures we saw from the event, there is still lots of work to do on that ship and under 4 months before the hand-off to NCL.  I am no expert in ship building but when you get close to the wire like this, 20% to do seems huge to me.  Let's hope for the best.

Having done New Builds and Dry Docks you would be AMAZED what they can do to a ship in 2 weeks!!!! I have watched them strip them and rebuild/redecorate in 2 weeks including MAJOR technical jobs. This looks to be on schedule to me with no problems judging from the pictures here.

Maybe this has been discussed already, but I don't have time to read through 100+ pages...

Having a room by that water slide will be awful. Who thought that up?

Then can you imagine the chair hogs by the pools? Looking at the photos, the seating is very limited.

On my previous post, I just saw on the website that they will have a 3 story thester/club. Can't wait to be blinded by strobes.

You are an extremely NEGATIVE person. I hope I never have to cruise with you. EVERYTHING is a problem for you. Maybe you should just stay home.

  6. With all the news about Disney donating to anti-LGBTQ+ candidates in Florida I am wondering if this will keep you off DCL or from going to the parks? I worked on DCL and it was the most gay friendly company ever so I am surprised to learn of the donations. However I also know they are a huge employer and need government officials on their side when issues come up, so I guess I'm not THAT surprised. But would love to hear from others, especially in relation to future plans on DCL.

  7. We sailed Dubai to Singapore on RCCL Spectrum of the Seas. Spent 3 days in Dubai pre-cruise and had absolutely no issues at all. I was actually worried as we booked a single bed in Queen Mary Hotel but it wasn't an issue at all and we were even upgraded to a suite! We enjoyed walking around Dubai, the Hop on/Hop off Bus and never felt it was an issue or there was anything to worry about. I don't think I'd go back but we enjoyed the 3 days there.

This is true. The basketball court became the "red light" district every night, not just certain nights.  Additionally, there were 27 confirmed cases onboard, however, there were a lot more positive cases after disembarking.

I tested positive for Covid a day after the cruise and I wore a mask everywhere except eating AND I didn't go to any of the parties.  My husband didn't test positive and we were in the stateroom without masks and spent most of the cruise together.

Unfortunately there was not much going on during the day for this cruise except for Bingo.   Vacaya seemed to scrap any the Celebrity activities and/or entertainment which was unfortunate because so many of the entertainment they booked canceled.

This was my first Vacaya trip and my last.  Didn't care for the much of the cruise.  Vacaya is great with upfront communication but appeared to be lost and confused once the cruise began.  The cruise director was horrendous too.

    Hope you are fully recovered.

This is a shame about the entertainment, not just the ones not allowed to board due to Covid but the Celebrity production shows were canceled. These charters charge premium fees because they bring in their own entertainment, DJ's and cruise staff so I would feel completely cheated if all the things they "replaced" suddenly weren't there. Also, I would assume the normal production cast & Crew would be onboard but with a bad CD they wouldn't have thought to put on a "normal" show instead. Or maybe Vacaya didn't feel it was necessary to replace the lost entertainers. In either case, it doesn't make me want to spend lots of extra $$$ just to sail with the gays. I'll stick to regular cruises and make my own "gay nights".
