  1. Now I am confused. I understand only one device at a time on the Plus package. But if both cabin mates have the plus package, does each person get their own sign in? So if I have an iPhone and iPad, I can use just one of those, but my cabin mate has an iPhone and a computer they can use just one of theirs, but can we each be using at the same time? Maybe I'm asking: Are there are two sign-on IDs in one cabin on the Plus package since we both have purchased that?
  2. First time Princess - sailing April 20th. Have the Plus package - do I have to request that the medallion be shipped, or does it automatically ship with the Plus?
  3. I've allowed myself to acknowledge that our comfort - a comfy-for-both-of-us cabin - are first priority, balcony second. Especially as several noted, and I'd expected, much of the trip to and from the islands isn't balcony weather. It's a stormy time of year in that part of the Pacific. Currently booked in a balcony cabin on deck 10. Unfortunately there are no deluxe balconies on Grand, just premium which is a regular balcony located midships. Too bad Princess doesn't have a couch until the mini-suite level, or on some ships Deluxe balcony. I'll upgrade - considering the balcony door to be a window, the balcony a bonus for the days in Hawaii weather permitting. For 16 days, would prefer, and feel like I'd get value from, the mini suite. Appreciate your thoughts! (And for helping me feel OK with prioritizing cabin size/layout.)
  4. Thinking about a mini suite on Grand Princess. LA to Hawaii on December 3, 2024, 16 days. As I understand Grand class ships have uncovered mini's. Specifically on Grand Princess mini's are on two decks: Emerald (8) and Dolphin (9). Emerald mini's have covered balconies - and are sold out on this sailing with no wait list any longer available. Thus, only option is Dolphin mini's - which are all uncovered balconies. I can think of some pros and some cons - I'd welcome any pro and con ideas from the community.
  5. As far as weather goes, October can have the hottest temperatures of the year. It's also the beginning of the windy season in both Northern and Southern California.T he windy "season" lasts from late September to about March, and there are only an average of 35 days of winds, lasting just one day, sometimes two or three. The winds are called Diablos in No Cal, and Santa Anas in So Cal. When there's a Diablo/Santa Ana event, humidity is very low, sometimes into single digits. So it's a high fire danger time. Even if you don't encounter windy days during a Santa Ana, So Cal is likely to have some warm weather. Temps can get up to the mid, even high 90's, although the ocean moderates the heat, so close to port would be a bit cooler. Of course one never knows exactly what the weather will be, but I'd call likely 80's to 90's in So Cal. Definitely calls for sunscreen if you're outside!
  6. Looking at Grand Princess to Hawaii - 10 days at sea, and would like some comfort. So wondering what seating is available in cabins under the mini-suite level: Oceanview, Balcony and Premium Balcony. I know there are no couches in these cabins, so chairs become important. There are two of us.
  7. First time on HAL, looking forward to a 16 day cruise from Los Angeles to Hawaii ... Zaandam, December 18 to January 3, 2025, so over the holidays! Our room is an Ocean View, near the elevators, on Deck 1. Not just near, but directly opposite. 1827 specifically. Any comments about a Zaadam room in an elevator-opposite location? I see there are 3 elevators on the ship, so maybe this minimizes the number of people, and I suppose the noise level is related to the types of fellow passengers. Since we're new to HAL, any general thoughts or comments about Zaandam's Deck 1, activities, food, etc., would be great.
  8. We are taking the 7-day Pacific Coastal in April; first time on Princess. Yours was an awesome review and very helpful, thanks! I'm a dedicated aqua fitness exerciser (and aqua instructor) and simply have to get in the pool on every cruise, every day! So knowing the water depth is important - if over 4.5 foot I need to have a noodle to use like a hobby horse thru my legs. (I do my workouts in the morning when a pool isn't busy.) Did you notice the water depth on the various pools?
  9. Such a silly question, given the cuisine options onboard, but I enjoy pretzels with a cocktail. Is there anywhere on board where I can find pretzels? Chips, too? I've cruised Celebrity once, and none were apparent.
  10. Looking at several levels of princess cabins (Discovery) I note there are no couches/sofas in inside / Oceanview / veranda level rooms. Looks like one needs to be at a mini-suite level to have a couch - pricey, but seems quite nice because there are two TVs, and a room divider. Interested to see what cruisers in no-couch/sofa cabins think of this situation. Is it uncomfortable or a problem? (To me, it feels like a situation - with only one chair in the room (Oceanview) how is the cabin set up for room service? Further, two people can't sit together - one must be on the bed.) Is it possible to request a second chair in the room?
  11. What happens if one forgets to make the final payment? I booked direct on-line. I did remember just in time, but still wondering what Celebrity would do/does.
  12. San Diego is likely our best bet. We looked at the Holland America itineraries - there's a few SDO to SDO - worth the drive for sure. Los Angeles still serves the Mexican Riviera with Discovery Princess and Royal Caribbean Navigator, both ships larger than we like; we may try them.
  13. Recently decided that the simplicity of living in so Cal and sailing from LA is a good thing. We took a Pacific Coastal cruise last April, and I've reserved a Mexico 6 nite cruise in November. Could not find on the Celebrity site another ship servicing these routes, so looked at the World Cruise Center schedule, only to find - no Celebrity. It sounds boring, but we were looking forward to a cruise or two a year, but now, wondering if Celebrity is not running those cruises, and possibly if it is out of Los Angeles completely?????
  14. Funny, I was just doing the same thing. We've taken two Oceania Cruises. and our first Celebrity Pacific Coast 7 night (Los Angeles to Los Angeles) in April. Booked a Veranda, All Included, $200 OBC for $3,4,00. We are tired of flying to/from destinations, and think round trips from LA are just fine. So, I booked a November 25th six night Los Angeles/Los Angeles (Cabo & San Diego). Decided at that time of year would only need an Oceanview, since it will be chilly. Booked two of us: $1575, this time cruise only with $200 OBC. With All Included it was about $2,400. Just now checked Oceania's Pacific Coast (late September) 7 night Pacific Coast (SFO/Santa Barbara/Catalina). The Oceanview for two of us was just over $4,000 (that does include a drinks pkg. or excursion, or onboard credit). We've sailed on Oceania's Regatta (smallest at 684 passengers) and Marina (largest at 1200), and found the ships small, limited entertainment. One small pool outside, that was very deep. The food was good, but for us we found Celebrity's food just as good. What we did like about Oceania was being able to bring all the wine we wanted on board. But we are 99% certain never to take that line again, and price is not the only factor. For us, Celebrity is just fine, in fact we enjoyed it more. But it is usually worthwhile to price various lines because sometimes there might be an unexpected price value relationship.
  15. Awesome, thanks mahdnc and purple traveller! Now I have to map Katakolon. as I've never even heard of it!
  16. I've booked Eclipse in November in a Prime Oceanview on Deck 8. 2nd Celebrity cruise; prior was 7114 on Solstice, third forward cabin on the ship - ie nearly at the Prime Oceanview spots. Had no issue with motion on our one day with moderate seas. There was some anchor noise, but not bad. We did not use the balcony because it was chilly weather. So I figured that an Oceanview on the bow would be OK for noise and motion. And November is chilly. It does seem the window is placed in the room at the same relative place as all windowed/balconied cabins. Questions I have are - does the window make one feel weird, given that it is up higher and angled, and can you see out of it while sitting on the couch, chair, or bed? Oh, and how clear/clean is the window?
  17. There weren't any options to edit back to 11:00 (that arrival time is probably "sold out" by now). I called Celebrity; the agent can do nothing because the times are handled by the ship directly. But he did point out that I have an email which notes my 11:00 arrival time. So I'll screen shot that email, and arrive at 11:00, and hope we can board. Not traveling with anyone else who still have 11:00 time - I only changed MY time for the wellness check, but it changed my husband's arrival time to 1:30.
  18. So I did check the 1:30 for the wellness check. Now my boarding time is 1:30. So it DID change the boarding time.
  19. Boarding Solstice on Saturday in Los Angeles. First time Celebrity, and really looking forward to a great trip. We've got a confirmed 11 am boarding time. On the app arrival time has a green check, and notes, "See you on April 22 at 11am for your wellness check." But here I get confused. There is a right pointing arrow in the arrival time block. I press the arrow, and it takes me to a screen that says "You are required to select an arrival time for your wellness check." Two times are provided 1:30-2:00, and 2:00-2:30. Just now I selected 1:30. So, where is the wellness check done ... in the terminal or on the ship? Surely I won't have to disembark back to the terminal if I've already boarded? If it's done in the terminal have I essentially lost my 11:00 am boarding time? If wellness check is on the ship, where is it located? (I think I should have selected the wellness check time when I checked in...?)
  20. Wondering about the outdoor pools on Solstice --- How deep are they? Does anyone (adults!) bring swim noodles Are they heated to a swimmable/workoutable temperature, or to a relax-in-the-water temperature? Asking because I like to workout in the pool! Will be on board April 22, for the same route as you're currently on! Looking forward to Santa Barbara, and SFO! Well, Catalina Island, too!
  21. How does US insurance (Medicare + Tricare as secondary) work on the Pacific Coastal cruise, sailing to US ports from Los Angeles, and of course the necessary Ensenada. If I get, say, appendicitis enroute to SFO from Los Angeles, how is that handled if I need to be taken off the ship and moved to land? Who pays if I am treated on the ship only? Or if say, I fall on the ship enroute to SFO from Los Angelse- is that covered under the Jones Act, or Medicare? And, if I stay on the ship in Ensenada but get appendicitis there, is a separate medical policy needed?
  22. Wondering a few things about Solstice pools - How deep is Solarium pool? Can one swim or do aqua aerobics in the Solarium pool (is it meant for people to relax in, and thus exercise is frowned on)? Leads to the next question - how warm is the pool? Heated for relaxing, and so too warm to work out in? How deep are the outdoor pools? Are they heated, say, for the Pacific Coast April 22 sailing?
