since my first time going over seas in 2000 to the present day, i have never once used traveler's checks or a currency exchange. i have always used an atm; from costa rica to the czech republic. tell your bank what countries you will be visiting and the dates. this is very important.

like i said before my first major solo trip was 30 days in Europe when i was 20 (2000). i went where i wanted to go, on a whim. no need for a rigorous itinerary that you both had to agree on and i could divert on an impulse.

i am very interested in travel nursing.

i went to the great lake's maritime academy for most of their engineer program. i flat out exhausted my financial aid 3 semesters (and two sea projects) before graduating. no third engineer's license; but a house/ lifetime of student loan debt.

we are also short of nurses and have a TON of RNs Jumping ship too. i am a guard, but i have mainly been working in inmate healthcare (basically floor security while the nurses, PA & physician do their thing) for the last few years. i am 95% sure that i am going to quit and start RN school myself this fall. i all ready have an unrelated degree (thus the MSUjohn) so my class load wont be as bad.

iam a prison guard, the MDOC is short maybe 1000 guards.

i work closely with threat/ security assessment. what crazytrain stated was absolutely correct; cruise ships (potentially) provide an environment rich in "targets" but poor opportunity. are there sex crimes on cruise ships? yes, just as there are murders; however given the massive number of people cruising annually (30M+) both are very rare. finally and yet again, most sex crime are committed by a trusted individual and this is especially true of prepubescents.

delta has several "alliance partners"/ code shares in Europe. these are off the top of my head: air france, csa czech airlines and KLM. you buy one ticket and connect through the partners.

OK, it is all coming together; a few days ago i was watching a narrated tour on a carnival ship. as they passed through the store, the narrator stated "carnival is getting in on the cruise ducks too (as they showed a four pack of duck). i was confused what where the ducks. today i watched a video and people where "locking for ducks on their cruise. i was confused. now, all my questions are answered. (i hate fads)

"Trafficking" is a moral panic and "predators".... stranger danger is grossly overstated....(and is the lasting moral panic that wont die) the VAST majority of actually predation on said prepubescents is by a "person of trust" (family member/ close family friend/ respected member of town). i am saying this as a prison guard...who is definitely NOT at work typing this a mere 25 yards from an individual that snatched, "assaulted*", murdered and dumped an 11 year old girl in the 1970s this got dark, fast. back to cruising: i am really looking forward to my lisbon to new york TA. *changed because they hid my post

i know i am getting old, because my ideal adult cruise would be 25+

and the let them eat the full consequences of their mistakes/transgressions. with my parents unless it was my life, limb or eyesight i was dealing with it from a very young age. i am so VERY thankful i was raised with the final free range / latch key kids.

i so wish i would have spotted this cruise prior to purchasing one way tickets from detroit to lisbon. like you said, the itinerary looked amazing. sun over epic back..... oh well.

i fly delta basically exclusively domestically & transatlantic; and i will agree with what you said i WOULD pay more for delta than a competitor. that being said right now flight prices have doubled and tripled.
