  1. Correct, they were charged as two drinks. My point was that they never questioned the ask for a double or made the drink an up-charge. I will say, that they were not consistent with what was charged at different bars but the cost was never above the $11 per drink (2@$11 equals a $22 tab). For what it’s worth, I still don’t understand why they print a check and have you sign it if you have a drink package.
  2. Agree. When we were on Eurodam last month I ordered double Dewars each evening with no up charge.
  3. On the Eurodam as well. And yes, the bar service is lacking. Understaffed and when there is wait staff they seem to look right through you as if you weren’t there. Bartenders are not much better. We had the same issue back in ‘22 in Alaska. I chalked it up to ramping up after the pandemic. Perhaps I was wrong. What is even more troubling is that we received the Daily for tomorrow. No NFL conference championship games are listed. We were told they are only available in our room. Really? Say it isn’t so.
  4. I believe sail away is 3pm. We will be onboard as well.
  5. Last year we watched the conference championship games on the Solstice. They were in the rooms and also on the big screen on the Lawn. The crew set up extra canvas chairs. It was rather cold that day so they also had blankets available. I believe the game was also shown in the Club.
  6. Go Chiefs. It’s currently zero degrees here in Kansas City headed for a low of minus twelve tonight 🥶. We join you on the 24th. DW started packing today. Looking forward to warmer weather.
  7. We got the same offer for our upcoming January 2024 cruise with a PIF date 10/26/2023. Offer says the $100 OBC is available if we pay by 10/31/23. No brainer for us. Just picked up a $100 OBC for paying on time. We also have another cruise booked in September 2024 but did not receive the same offer on that cruise. We would have passed on that offer.
  8. Nor did the April 15th sailing on Apex.
  9. Thanks to all for the response. We will have to see how it works out once on board. Worse case is the two of us will have to carry two cards.
  10. We are boarding the Apex on April 15th and have two Aqua Class cabins booked. One for my wife and I, and one for out two young adult children, brother and sister. My wife feels it would be more comfortable for the kids if she rooms with our daughter and I room with our son. I called our TA and asked her to make the change but she is reluctant due to a possible mistake being made with the bookings that would affect our promos and pricing. She split the beds in each room to singles and suggested we go to Guest Services and get duplicate room cards for those switching rooms. Seems simple enough but the Edge class ships have room feature controls tied to the app. In addition, carrying two cards would be a pain. Does anyone have experience with making this change once onboard? Can Guest Services simply move me and my daughter to the different cabins so we just have to carry one card and with the changes to the app as well? TIA.
  11. I would ask if you don’t see them. We were on the Solstice for the January 28th cruise. They had a football watch party up on the lawn on Sunday. It was cool and they provided blankets. Lots of them. We didn’t see any out the rest of the week. It was cool going back and forth to Mexico.
  12. There are two regular U.S. type outlets and one European outlet. All three are by the desk.
  13. We were at the port last Saturday as well. We booked the ships shuttle service for $35 per person. Well worth it. Walked off the ship at 8am. Collected our bags and boarded the bus just outside baggage claim. We arrived at LAX about 8:45am.
  14. Thanks to all. Now the Chiefs need to make it the ahi AFC championship game.
  15. We will be on the Solstice during the NFL playoffs. Do they carry the games on the ship? If so, where?
  16. We are looking at booking the Iconic Western Mediterranean cruise with a December 13, 2022 departure out of Rome. Does anyone have experience with the availability of the both included and optional shore excursions when booking this close to departure? I’m not too worried about the dinner reservations as out experience is that can usually be made pretty easily when you are on board.
  17. We used Port Valet last month on the Eurodam. Only way to go. You can pre-register online or fill out a form on the ship. We placed our bags outside the room and the next time we saw them was in baggage claim.
  18. Last month when we cruised Eurodam we used the pier We were the first ship in port. Later in the the Queen Elizabeth was docked along side us on the other side of the pier.
  19. We were on Eurodam three weeks ago. The doors to the forward portion of deck six were closed with a notice that crew only beyond that point. I assume that was the quarantine area.
  20. We were on the Eurodam last week and found the drink service in the MDR to be quick and efficient. That’s said, the service at most of the other bars was slow, even when they were not crowded. The exception being the Pinnacle lounge.
  21. We just got off the Eurodam after a 7 day Alaska cruise. It’s our first cruise since January 2020 on Viking Ocean. First time on HAL. We found the ship to be in good shape and comfortable. Great staff and the programming and entertainment were adequate. Food was good but not great. They seemed to be short staffed in the bars. We felt a bit rushed in the MDR. Overall we would sail HAL again. I feel HAL is a good value.
  22. If you have more than one cruise booked or booked onboard during a current sailing they will grant you PIF six months from the sailing date. It’s not automatic so you have to ask for it. We usually book the next cruise while onboard, even if it is just a placeholder.
  23. I was able to view the pass this morning. I know it’s not final until the health assessment is done but I want to see what boarding time that we currently have assigned (Group A, noon). This is our second attempt for this group and first HAL cruise (moving over from Viking). Just trying to get used to a new system. Thanks to all for your help.
