  1. Our wonderful NCL PCC called me this afternoon as our October 2nd cruise was canceled (shout out to Andy Estel!), and he got us rescheduled for February, 2022. He told me that the POA will start sailing out of Honolulu on November 6th of this year.
  2. From the CDC website you referenced: "Researchers have been studying and working with mRNA vaccines for decades. Interest has grown in these vaccines because they can be developed in a laboratory using readily available materials. This means the process can be standardized and scaled up, making vaccine development faster than traditional methods of making vaccines." You say potato, I say potahto...
  3. “Nucleic acid vaccination was discovered 30 years ago,” Felgner said. “Thirty years of scientific discovery by hundreds of scientists, clinical development and manufacturing supported with billions of dollars from the NIH and several companies led to the outcome we’re experiencing today, and saving the world.” https://www.contagionlive.com/view/immune-response-from-mrna-covid-19-vaccines-is-more-robust-than-natural-infection
  4. We did the Oahu Explorer cruise tour in 2016 as it was our first time on Oahu and we absolutely loved it! We were on an upper floor of the Waikiki Marriott with a partial ocean view and a wonderful view of Diamond Head. There were about 40 other couples & we met in the lobby each morning after breakfast before we boarded our buses. It was a great way to meet our fellow passengers. Our tour guide was awesome & we hit most of the major attractions on the island - Pearl Harbor, the Polynesian Cultural Center, the National Cemetery of the Pacific (the Punchbowl), Kualoa Ranch, Na Pali
  5. I sure hope you're right! We're booked on the POA October 2. Another part of the CDC's order is cruise line shore excursions only. I wonder how that would apply to Hawaii...? Seems silly as we will already have been on Oahu for a week seeing the sights.
  6. Thank you for posting this. Great info!
  7. I had posted this before, but I think it bears repeating. According to a new study by scientists at UC Irvine, the antibodies created by the MRNA vaccines are 10 times stronger than antibodies from having had covid. Another huge benefit is that MRNA vaccines allow the immune system to recognize other novel coronavirus strains. https://www.dailybreeze.com/2021/04/28/which-is-better-for-developing-immunity-covid-19-vaccine-or-natural-infection/
  8. Thank you, coffeebean! I thought so, too. We got the Moderna vaccine as well!
  9. Still hopeful for our POA cruise October 2 but that, of course, depends on what the State of Hawaii decides. Alternate plan is to rebook for spring 2022 & visit New Orleans this fall. Also have a road trip planned to Lake Tahoe area this summer, but I sure miss cruising!
  10. "Sorry, Dr. Fauci & other fear mongers...". More good news about the MRNA vaccines. For those wondering about the vaccine for those who have antibodies from having had covid, the antibodies created by the vaccine are 10 times stronger and MRNA vaccines allow the immune system to recognize other novel coronavirus strains. https://www.dailybreeze.com/2021/04/28/which-is-better-for-developing-immunity-covid-19-vaccine-or-natural-infection/
  11. I know you're right, but I think we'll wait just a couple of months to see how things are going. If things still aren't looking good, we'll reschedule for next spring. Hope springs eternal! 🙂
  12. Uh, we're a month early. Now we have to decide whether to postpone to November or spring 2022, but we'll wait a bit and see what happens.
  13. I feel your pain! We had wanted to do this POA cruise for our 40th anniversary last year & we were originally booked for March, 2020. We're now on our 4th reschedule, fingers crossed we'll make it. Whenever you do get to do this cruise, I promise you will love it!
  14. Sure hope this is true as we have a cruise booked on the POA at the end of September. As this is our second time on this cruise, we want to be able to explore freely in port. We plan to fly into Honolulu a few days before our cruise and explore on our own there, so it seems a bit silly to be limited to NCL's shore excursions thereafter. Also, how about ship excursions like "Lahaina on your own" where you're free to wander? Kind of breaks the bubble.
  15. I understand that the CDC has said that they won't mandate vaccine passports, but IBM and numerous other tech companies are working on them so, even though others may not want one, why can't I have one if I do? I envision that it would just be an app on my phone that I could download like any other app, and it would be up to me to provide verifiable proof that I've been vaccinated (and I would be happy to pay for it). If/when I need a booster, the app could be updated. Israel is already using vaccine passports and many other countries world-wide are developing them. This link talks about tho
