Thanks @VMax1700 and @FreestyleNovice For your replies. I should have been clearer that I’ll need the train on the 11th and of course that’s when NS won’t be running. I thought it was all day but you’re saying only 4am to 8am? That would be great for me but I haven’t seen that anywhere. Is there someplace I could find that info?
I read that in past strikes, NS would at least run trains to Amsterdam from Schiphol for the unaware travelers but nothing to Rotterdam.
We arrive at Schiphol around 9pm and I’m envisioning a bit of chaos trying to find transport without NS. I did see Staxi and they look good, but I figured taxis would be at a premium and wouldn’t those drivers rather take regular fares at the higher meter price? I’ve been looking at car services but they all seem like consolidators who arrange rides like Uber and don't have great reviews. And I can only imagine what the Uber surge pricing will be. I was hoping to lock something down before all my options are gone. I was even looking at flixbus.
We’ve never flown into Schiphol and have no idea how long it might take to get through immigration. Coming into the country, US passports can’t use the gates. We aren’t checking any luggage. I’m figuring 90 minutes to deplane, wait in line at immigration and get to the curb. Does that sound reasonable?
Trying not to panic here. But of course, after flying from the US with a change of planes in Heathrow, uncertain transport is worrying.
Thank you both!!!
