  1. I know some people have been successful with that approach but the concern is that when you cancel a sold out shore excursion your spot might move to someone on the waitlist and you might not be able to rebook. Perhaps that works better with specialty dining.
  2. More OBC is always good but remember that you cannot spend the OBC until you are onboard the ship. You probably will need to use real money to purchase shore excursions or make specialty dining reservations ahead of time to avoid excursions being sold out and get more desirable dining times. I’ve combined this with the onboard booking bonus and got $1100 OBC on a couple upcoming trips. I’m not really sure what I’m going to do with that much OBC since the early HIA bookings also pay crew gratuities.
  3. I think it is a hotel for the convention center. It’s supposed to be an 800 room Omni hotel
  4. I’ve tried twice with the Premium package and it didn’t work
  5. @Scrapnana The Rotterdam has left Half Moon Cay and she’s combing to pick you up
  6. How long is the presentation and do you need to do anything at the end?
  7. I think I’ll have the prime rib, Caesar salad and the cheesecake.
  8. I hope the internet package on the HAL Rotterdam will let me stream the event.
  9. I understand that there always can be issues, but I have sailed several times on the Rotterdam and the Celebrity Edge, both with Star Link. There were issues on both cruises due to legal agreements with StarLink and sometimes when the signal was blocked. But when everything is working as designed should I expect the same level of internet performance on the Vista and Signature class ships that I have experienced on the Rotterdam. I’m not looking to run a business or attend meetings, I’m just looking for entertainment.
  10. I know that HAL has converted all of their ships to StarLink but I was wondering if the ships have also been upgraded to have routers throughout the ship and in your cabin. Can I expect good internet performance sitting in my cabin or on my balcony. I have been on other cruise lines that did not do a good job of providing internet coverage throughout the ship. There was one ship that I had to have the IT team install a router in my cabin for decent performance. I am considering some longer cruises on the Eurodam and the Noordam and poor internet performance in the cabin could be a deal breaker.
  11. We haven’t heard from @Stockjock, I hope he got his point.
  12. Ok, you’ve convinced me. Not everyone on CC knows the correct way to do things.
  13. It seems like you have assumed my goal is to train all of the HAL agents, nothing is farther from the truth. I am only interested in training the HAL agent that is on the phone with me at that moment. When that HAL agent does what I know is possible, then it is a success. Some agents require more training than others and some are very good. As far as how will I know the correct answer, that’s simple. I just ask my friends on CC. No one is smarter than the people on CC.
  14. Me too. I hope everyone gets their point soon.
  15. Congratulations on boarding another cruise. We’re on the current cruise and I promise we’ll bring the ship back to you on the 17th. I’ve also battled cancer for the last 2 years and I’ll be waiting for you with open arms. Congratulations on resuming your cruising.
  16. If I understand you correctly, you lost your DD and I’m very sorry for that and I wish and your family peace. But with all do respect I can train HALs representatives, one person at a time. I’ll just keep moving them to the correct answer. I’m not trying to cheat them, just trying to get fair treatment.
  17. Congratulations, this is a well deserved honor.
  18. Isn’t the 14th supposed to be the magic day?
  19. I’m glad you have found a good TA but CC is also filled with stories about unresponsive TAs and OBC that doesn’t get posted to the account. At least there is someone at your old big box TA that answers the phone and works to resolve your issues. If I found a TA that I can trust and provides a better deal, I would use them.
  20. This is problem that I’m trying solve. I can usually train the person on the other end of the phone. I often use a big box TA and they have hired a lot of new people after the pandemic. So when I end up with an inexperienced TA who is dealing with an inexperienced person at HAL it’s sometimes very difficult. So if I could just deal directly with HAL’s inexperienced person and transfer it to TA of my choice, it should be easier.
  21. Thanks, I guess I’ve never really understood exactly how you would reach a HAL PCC. I was concerned that the person I reached on the 800 number was a PCC.
  22. I’m a DIY kinda guy, I investigate all of the details and enjoy doing things myself. Like many on CC I book through a TA to get some sort of OBC or gift card. However one of my frustrations is not talking directly with HAL. Sometimes when I have specific questions or concern, the TA isn’t very knowledgeable in a certain area and I’m never quite sure if they are communicating my concerns or requests to HAL. Is it possible to call HAL directly book a cruise with the phone agent and then transfer the reservation to another TA? I’m never sure if the phone representative is a HAL employee or if that person really works for a third party TA that works for HAL. If it’s a third party TA I’m concerned that there might be an issue transferring the reservation. I have dealt with another cruise line that distinguished between online and phone reservations and had different people handling follow up questions. TIA
