  1. Brilliant mick taking. Well done. Hope you got the admin out of the way. I used to have to do that for the 20 or so people I was responsible for but now it is only for the two of us and is just holiday admin. My wife was responsible for 40+ people but had others to help with the admin work as she was the boss.
  2. Sorry Jean but these were people who were coughing on deck, on the buses and all over It was definately covid. ..and they admitted it after.
  3. Sorry but much of it ceretainly WAS P&Os fault. Firstly they did not enforce the waering of masks either on the coach down or on Embarkation. The infectious period of c...d meant we caught it either on the coach or at embarkation. The medical people told us there was not covid on the ship whereas the cabin next to us were isolated as was the cabin above and people we spoke to later said many had it The Capt came on after we were told 'no covid' and asked eveyone to wear masks as there was an outbreak!. As to the drunk episode, despite complaining about the harassment P&O did nothing and the same people were in the casino drinking heavily every night.. I am sorry to keep bringing it up but people do not seem to believe it.
  4. Thank you.My problem was not being locked away but the lies we were told. The medical dept. said there was no covid generally on the ship. Two days later the Capt. asked everyone to wear masks as there was a covid outbreak. We had heard many coughing and spluttering on the ship before we were isolated but no-one was asked to wear masks and some did not report the covid to the medical team. Our mistake was being honest!. Anyway, we have moved on and have great hols actually much cheaper. Thanks again for your kind words.. Pete.
  5. Thank you for your courteous and helpful comment. What is the 'Mike Tyson' comment for? I am sure Butlins is ok for some...but not me thank you. I like a little culture .As to you being aware of my animosity towards any P&O cruises you have not been a poster long enough to know anything. I have had a number of good cruises with several lines inc. P&O in the past. What I don't like about them is their completely ignoring customers and lying to them. As it has personally happened to me I do know what it is like.
  6. The fault lies with both P&O and the people who allowed the ship to berth against the rules. Firstly if only 50% of people wnts ashore 20 buses for over 2,500 people is obviously nowhere near enough. Arvia should not even be in the port as the rules stipulate only 1 ship with over 5000 capacity are allowed at once so someone has slipped up. I can see Paima further restricting cruise passenger numbers in the future as it causes havoc in the town and to locals.
  7. Well. the last two cruises, Iona and Britannia wer a disaster for us. On Britannia we had covid and were shut in our cabin for 6 days missins all but one of the ports we wanted to visit. We were lied to by crew and the medical staff. On Iona my wife was harrassed by drunks in the casino and the same people were there every night despite complaints. I am a six foot 15stone ex rugby player and to be honest the behaviour could have resulted in a fight. My wife, luckily, is better 'trained' by her work in care and just warned the men concerned 'keep your distance' which luckily worked eventually. We may be just unlucky but so are many other cruisers. Incidentally I firmly believe that some posters on here may well exaggerate their number of cruises and where they are at present.
  8. One has to remember these are all personal opinions from the 68 people who follow this forum. That is out of thousands who cruise with P&O. I have to disagree with Interestedcruisefan on most points but will say that most of my complaints have happened to me and numerous others.
  9. How can the OP get a nice cabin when the ship is full? I cannot understand his position as he has booked a select cabin but cannot choose as the ship is fully booked. How will he get a cabin allocated then if none are available, and why charge select when you cannot select? He should at least get the difference refunded or take further action.
  10. I can't quite understand your point. My comment was to correct information posted by someone else other than you.
  11. I am comparing it like for like. Why do I need to justify things by 'suddenly' going to select. Select is what I have always used . Why are you quoting the cheapest price possible? If I was to do the same then the hotel I am going to will only be £1,500 for both of us. By the way, I did 'click the link' and quoted the price most would pay.. My point is so 'one sided' it is 100% correct.
  12. Sorry to say I am not obsessed about anything, save getting value for money and not being taken for an idiot. My replies have been in answer to questions and in some cases correcting duff info . , as my point about hotels illustrated. I agree each to their own and if people are actually satisfied with the behaviour of P&O then so be it. I do reserve the right to point out things about the cruiseline especially with my experience and that of others on the cruises.
  13. I have just read piece in the Daily Express about cruises. There was a complaint that some lines only spend around 4-6 hours in a port and it is not long enough to explore. Asking a variety of passengers though about cruises it seems that most say that the ship is the important thing and visiting ports is just a small bonus. The ship and its amenities is the main destination and people would even stay aboard when visiting a port. Does this mean we should have ships on cruises which never see land and just sail around whilst others do many port visits for longer periods to soak up foreign cultures?
  14. What site are you looking at? Our TA (the biggest around) shows Select balcony cabin at £1376 pp ie cost of £2752., and this is a price 'from' so could be higher for a decent grade. Obviously it may be cheaper having a saver inside cabin but our 'land' holiday has a very large sea view balcony and we can usually select. Much cheaper...and it includes drinks which the cruise do not.
  15. So what price are you paying because looking through our brochures and internet I cannot find any 14 nights for below £2,300(and if you include drinks etc then cruises are much more.)
  16. Which cruises have you been on? I am talking fully inclusive, entertainment, great choice of food, drinks and flights with sea view and all transport and luggage. I have been on many cruises and in the last 5 years I must have been unlucky as most cruises were approachin £3000 for basics.
  17. Easily done if you are paying over £2000 for 14 nights.
  18. Each to their own. Only about 70 people post on here and most are regulars who love P&O. We have never had aproblem resolved on board and have had to wait 28 days after a written complaint. Fortunately we have only had two.
  19. Well I have done it for the past 15 years or so both to America(Florida, Vegas and Iowa) and to Europe. Only delay was a time change on an American flight which did not really bother us.
  20. Hotel prices are much cheaper than a cruise in most cases. We pay around £2300 for both of us in a 4* hotel, all inclusive with a sea view and including flights, luggage etc. The hotel has a casino 200 yds away.
  21. And where does this info come from. No-one issues any figures for complaints so there could be a vast majority who will not cruise again on P&O.Remember posts on here are from only around 70 people who cruise out of thousands.
  22. 'I know what I am going to get.' Apparently not from the points made on Cruise Critic recently. The two new ships are very noisy so this is not true. 'Designed for British tastes'. Only if you like your drinks and overpriced food. Absolutely NOT if you take note of them ignoring the majority of complaints. They will 'investigate' at a later date which is no good when it is actually happening and they refuse to act.
  23. How can people keep complimenting P&O when this sort of thing is happening with so many people. On Iona we complained about the creaking in the cabin(balcony select) and they fixed the dividing partition ouside. No difference as the noise was like hundreds of rats scurrying along the conduits over the balcony door. Told there was nothing they could do and on the third day I got some earplugs and used those. It would seem that the design of the two new ships leaves much to be desired with noise levels. Of course the cruiseline will continue selling these cabins as money is the only thing they are interested in and most people have got so fed up they just accept it.
  24. Totally agree. I have to say though how many of the total amount of passengers who have cruised on P&O (and this is the site for P&O and no other cruiseline) have complaints or can be bothered to complain. It could be thousands for all we know and it is only guesswork to say most people have a great time. Myself, I cannot see this as the incidents around the customer service provided by the cruiseline are frequent on many sites and in the media. What baffles me is that many on here have complaints but seem to still back P&O as a great cruiseline when in fact they are not fit for pupose in many cases. Anyway, it would seem I am in a tiny minority so time will tell but I will be stress free on holidays at least.
