  1. I don't know what they have done nor what their emissions are but the rule coming in is that emissions of over 0.1% will be banned from the Med. I am not sufficiently qualified to say if any ships fit this figure.
  2. I am old enough to remember that only it was not my favourite show. Re P&O, it is only an opinion based on the things I read and hear and from my experience on the ships.
  3. Though it is very dramatic rules there will be no exceptions and they include cargo ships but excluds ferries. I don't know how it will work or be policed but it was voted in at the Barcelona convention by 22 countries.
  4. It may be slightly more than two years but they will go as they are getting older and older(as are we!) With no more ships ordered they will be down to two ships.
  5. They will certainly NOT dock at ports big enough. Many if not all ports in the Med are due to ban all vessels which do not comply with the new regulations voted for at the 2020 convention re pollution and air quality. Many other areas have or are following suit inc most of Norway.
  6. I agree with much of what you say. However when the two smallest ships disappear and P&O are left with only a couple of large ships that will begin the downward slope for those over 60. The two big ships will not be able to, or prevented from, berthing at many ports. They will be virtually floating Butlins or Disney parks catering for children and those who like to just eat and drink on sea days.Remember P&O have not ordered any new ships and will be down to two in a couple of years.
  7. Our last cruise was spoiled by the same sort of behaviour but the crew did nothing to alleviate it. It just seemed to be the view that these people were spending a lot of money so why bother.....or the crew were frightened of them!
  8. And it does the same on all its cruises last year and this year. That is boring.
  9. Did I say cruisers are 'lower classes'? NO. I said that people who find Ant and Dec entertaining by embarassing people are possibly the lower class. Cruisers usually have plenty of money judging by what they spend and eat! Incidentally I was brought up in a back to back terrace house with an outside shared toilet.
  10. Again sarcasam to the fore. I did not mention what job they did only who I liked. Hope you have a good time in my favourite place abroad. Off to the USA in a few weeks.
  11. It would seem in many peoples opinion. If you notice Ant and Decs only talent seems to be embarassing members of the public/audience/competitors and celebrities. This apparently appeals to the lower classes. I don't have a favourite as I don't watch TV except quiz night on a monday on BBC2. Of the older generation I liked Joan Rivers ,George Carlin, Bill Hicks, Deff Leppard etc. All old timers but the best. Also South Park.
  12. Ant and Dec appeal to the under age children who think doing anything on TV or stage is funny. They are not talented, just loud and raucous.
  13. The main problem is that Iona only goes to Alesund and Stavanger, both of which I have been to several times. Boring now. The others are probably interesting if P&O were going there.
  14. Love Barcelona, Bergen, Tallinn, Stockholm, Helsinki and Copenhagen. Apart from Bergen when you have spent a day in a Norwegian port (Flam etc) there is no point in going again. Gibraltar is just a tip.
  15. Obviously then you don't like culture and history. There are enough historical sites in Malta to keep you going for months.
  16. When we were on Iona in Jan for 12 nights the Olive Grove menu did not change at all. On enquiring we were told it was a permanent menu.
  17. A question which has to be asked. Recently, more or less since the middle of covid there have been many many posts on here complaining about various aspects of cruising with P&O. We have had cruises cancelled, people not being allowed to board with no refunds, food, entertainment, ports being missed, ports banning large cruise ships, itineries being changed, cabins being changed and many other complaints. A good number of people think that P&O customer services attitude is diabolical and no-one listens. We have people defending them and even a person that would appear to work for them on the forum. Prices are going up and service is coming down. With all these negatives why do people still cruise on P&O? Iona still continues to go weekly up to Norway, visiting the same ports week in week out and Med. itineries being the same weekly or fortnightly. Surely it gets boring. Cruising used to be about travelling in comfort to various countries , enjoying the life at sea whilst being able to visit other countries to see the culture and life in other ports. Now, it seems to be more about people who enjoy a floating Disneyworld or Butlins. The stress attatched to booking is getting more and more and the anxious wait to see what will change between paying and travelling is unbelievable. We pay months in advance so instead of us getting interest on our thousands the cruise line is getting millions of interest per year extra...out of our pockets. The cruiseline is above the law of the country and has its own rules and regulations which in some areas appear to be illegal, yet they have them. They are a law unto themselves basically. People on here defend them and say how wonderful they are and yet the forum is called Cruise CRITIC. Anyone who dares to criticise them is often ridiculed and put in their place. Some comments about cruising makes one wonder how many cruises some people have actually been on!. Anyway, why do YOU still love cruising?
  18. Nope. Never watched Ant and Dec in my life. They are a kids programme.
  19. Another sarcastic comment. Which zap are you as there are dozens of them on here!
  20. As I said, some people cannot help but be sarcastic. Why bother. Talking to a few cast members they were leaving after 4 shows over two days and going on to the SAME SHOW on Broadway. I have to presume they were lying.
  21. Wy are many on here so sarcastic with their comments. I am not 'fixated' on anyone, just using them as an example. The crew cast are only semi professional as they do other jobs around the ship in many cases.. The shows on RCI are not West End shows but Broadway shows. Certainly many of the shows we have seen on RCI have NOT been put together for a set period but have often left the ship after a couple of performances to go back to the theatres they came from. They do NOT stay on the ship. I am tired of pointing this out to some people who just ignore the facts. Thank you..end of subject.
  22. Maybe 'obvious' but the cast left the ship after two ports. I don't know where they went but the lead was going back to Broadway ,or so he said! Another group may be on the ship but they are still not the crew entertainers but a professional cast.
  23. Molecrochip seems to have taken down a post saying ships do not usually sail with 120% capacity...obviously as the capacity maximum is 100%. AQnyway, to slightly contradict him the actual new rules in Palma say that ' the definition of a mega ship such as Arvia etc is having a capacity of 5000 or more. It does not need that many passengers, just the capacity. It also states that in addition no more than 3 ships with over 500 passengers will be allowed, and a maximum of 8500 passengers per day. No exceptions save for Seaview as it is their home port.. It seems that P&O will have problems in the Med as Barcelona and Dubrovnik are also introducing passenger number restrictions
