  1. So I am not allowed to criticise on a critics forum ? Is it now a closed shop for the dozen or so regular posters. I have only been on around 40 cruises so I know nothing.
  2. So I cannot comment on new ideas then? Is this a closed shop for those who seem to spend their lives on ships?. I have only the experience of over 40 cruises in my 75 years.
  3. Have you actually been on a cruise ever? On our cruises it is necessary to visit the serving area several times if no trays available. Try carrying six slices of toast, several butters and jam and two drinks back to your table with only two hands! I have NEVER seen orange juice, water or even tea poured at the table for you. The drinks are obtained from the drinks station nearby. This has been the case in the buffets on nearly all our 40+ cruises on various lines.
  4. What a stupid idea. My wife used to get a seat and then I would get the breakfast for me first...toast, jam, butter and drinks for both of us. She would then gets hers. It will mean just more trips and crowding. Food wastage is a ridiculous excuse. With all the current pull-backs and problems I am glad we are not cruising anymore.
  5. Carlisle to Southampton....11.35 pm...arrives London Victoria at 06.30, leaves at 8.30 and arrives Southampton at 10.50.. We have used a similar service from Leeds. Sleep on the coach and breakfast and coffee in Victoria.
  6. Persevere. We have used them from Leeds some 20 times and no problems. Also try National. They picked us up in Leeds and we changed in Birmingham ok.
  7. From my understanding reading the new rules it is capacity NOT the current number of passengers.
  8. Now why will it disappoint me? The rules I quoted still apply. If one of the ships is the MSC giant then Arvia will not be allowed in. Simple.Only one ship over 5000 passengers allowed. As Megabear says it may well be that P&O have not told the passengers yet. If two are allowed in I don't know what the consequences as regards breaking the new laws will be.
  9. Won't fly wizz air due to bad customer service but will cruise P&O with their excellent customer service?Have you flown Wizz air before?
  10. My last comment on this. It is obvious that I am wrong expecting what I pay for and am just being old fashioned. I apologise for criticising P&O who are a wonderful and fair organisation. The people on here (all 68 of them who follow this blog) are wonderful, truthfull and have no complaints against P&O. Good luck to you all.
  11. But it was not sold to you knowing it would be cancelled!. If it was then that is fraud. Anyway it would appear that I am wrong. I apologise for being old fashioned and expecting what I purchased being forthcoming. P&O are wonderful and should never be mentioned on a critic forum, only on one that praises there every move. So long and good luck.
  12. If the large MSC is in port then it must be cancelled. Simple.
  13. Its not a game. It is the point that cruise lines are a law unto themselves and people are supporting this.
  14. They do know it will be cancelled as it is against the new laws. As for my Jet2 going bust, I think P&O will beat them to it. The flights have no relevance to CRUISE critics.
  15. So will you buy a ticket for my pop concert in Hyde Park. They are only £50 for a two day event and if (or when) the Authorities say I cannot hold the event, (which I know I can't) then I will refund your money. Until the authorities say NO it is still on. Happy with this as it is exactly what P&O are doing?
  16. If they know beforehand that they cannot go on the excursions then they are committing an offence knowing that the port WILL cancel because it is now the law. If all are happy with paying in advance for something that will not happen then ok, so be it.
  17. One definition of fraud is selling something you do not have. It is a fraudulant transaction. P&O do not have the excursions in Palma yet are selling them. You do the math!
  18. Like usual? You mean in a few weeks, months or whenever? Meantime you lose any interest on it and P&O gain interest on Thousands of pounds. If you see nothing wrong with this then how about you sending me a few thousands to buy Lindisfarne castle. I am going to claim it is mine. If I fail I will return your money in due course. Fair enough?
  19. Never been through a red channel yet. When disembarking is there an actual customs to go through? I may be getting old but I cannot recollect one in all my cruises from the UK.
  20. They could stop selling the excursions though. On land, selling things you have not got is called fraud is it not?
  21. P&O are well aware of the days they will not be allowed to dock so why they cannot be honest is beyond me. It is typical now though.
  22. As I have never done a cruise to Malta I have no idea about the excursions. The ancient sites dating back many thousands of years are interesting as are the glass manufacturers. Mdina is a great place as well.
  23. As the OP I also have to ask why many, if not most ,people are obsessed with food and drink? When they go ashore it is 'nice meal and drinks ' at such and such a place. You have food on board so why eat more during the day? I am 6' tall, well built with being a former rugby player and I simply could not eat the amount most people seem to consume. As to drinking...well it seems a major British pastime. Can anyone spend a day without being in or at a bar, whether on land or at sea?We have cruised to see different places and eat nice meals on board (without having to cook and wash up) not spending time in bars and restaurants..Cruising must be boring if you have to spend every evening in one of the bars.
  24. We had a very quick embarkation on Iona but I am positive that with the questions at the desks and the walk to the ship and then to the peninsular lunch it took more than 15mins....an impossible figure unless an Olympic sprinter.
  25. Believe me ( and it is only an opinion) Gibraltar has nothing to offer unless you are into wartime history. The rock looks like a small hill in the Pennines and the town itself looks as though it is in the middle of a war still. We found it grubby and boring...on our one and only visit.
