  1. Hi. Glad you are back. Could it be that they wait until it is too late to do anything about it? If so that would seem to be the current attitude of P&O.
  2. Molecrochip seems to have taken down a post saying ships do not usually sail with 120% capacity...obviously as the capacity maximum is 100%. AQnyway, to slightly contradict him the actual new rules in Palma say that ' the definition of a mega ship such as Arvia etc is having a capacity of 5000 or more. It does not need that many passengers, just the capacity. It also states that in addition no more than 3 ships with over 500 passengers will be allowed, and a maximum of 8500 passengers per day. No exceptions save for Seaview as it is their home port.. It seems that P&O will have problems in the Med as Barcelona and Dubrovnik are also introducing passenger number restrictions.
  3. When the policy changes ships are usually given time to bring them in.
  4. P&O can be blamed. They know well in advance the countries policies they are going to. They sell the cabins, hold on to the money for months and get interest. They are not concerned with passengers feelings.
  5. It is about time P&O were taken to court over these issues. We have cancelled our future cruises with this company and would not touch them with a bargepole as the old saying goes.
  6. Lovely weather here as we prepare paperwork to visit our son in the USA in a few weeks time.
  7. As Palma is Seaviews home port they always have preference. Arvia and Iona will not be allowed to berth at the same time no matter what P&O say or do.If P&O are still selling shore excursions then they have the money in their account getting interest....naughty naughty!
  8. If one is the MSC Seaview then P&O will have to alter the itinery
  9. If you are referring to the passenger quotas then I doubt they will change it and even more ports are joining in including Barcelona and most Norwegian ports.
  10. The bingo was a rip off, not entertainment.
  11. Did you play the bingo? It is honestly a gigantic rip off. When we played the only time there wer some 200plus people in the area playing. Many had the two cards plus and a lot had the full six cards. We estimated that on average the money coming in was some £3,500 plus. Prize money was....£700. A great profit for the casino which ran the bingo. One day we asked the Casino Manager, whom we came to know, how many people were playing on average. She said it was usually around 300 people!
  12. Grease came from Broadway performers. The show we saw had people that appeared as the same characters on Broadway. They came on board at one port and left a couple of ports further on. I forget the actual itinery as it was a few years ago and we sailed out of Fort Lauderdale. They were NOT cruise entertainers they were professional stage actors/singers/dancers who appeared on Broadway. I doubt that many 'cruise entertainers', (who are actually crew members and also do other jobs around the ship sometimes) appeare on such shows.Anyway the ents no longer concern me as I will not be seeing any in the future on P&O, having cancelled our future cruises
  13. I am wondering why several people on here are not understanding what I have posted. They were NOT, repeat NOT put together by an agent for the tourist industry. They were Broadway standard because they were from the actual Broadway show performed on Broadway! They came on the ship. They performed for two nights to a packed theatre and 4 appearances in the walkway in the middle of the ship and then left the ship. They did not dance..they sang. The lead singer had been on Broadway in several shows. I suppose in some ways, not being the originals they could be seen as a tribute group but they were way above the standards shown by others. Anyway, as we have cancelled our future cruise with P&O I can't be bothered anymore with people who just pick arguements. Life is too short for that.
  14. I don't quite understand your point about flying. The cast left the ship at a port and probably boarded another ship. Why would they stay on the ship when their performances had finished after their 4 shows?
  15. 'All im saying is it's a cast recruited from auditions to work on a cruise ship same as Headliners cast. But they they specialise doing one show rather than several' From this comment you are suggesting they were recruited to work on a ship. Wrong. They may have been recruited and auditioned to work on Broadway...as all shows are whether West End or Broadway (even Lloyd Webber does this) but they were NOT recruited to work specifically on a ship . They were performing on Broadway before hand and returned to land based theatres after the cruise.. Who is Mary Mac? Anyway..IMO the acts on RCI are vastly superior to P&O ..and are FREE!
  16. As do we.We are covered for worldwide travel of any description and it includes health issues.
  17. These were certainly not billed as a tribute act and the sailing was from Fort Lauderdale. The 5 members of the group all appeared in the Broadway show. They did three theatre shows and three on the bridges in the central area of the ship. They were packed out and the atmosphere in the latter was amazing.People were singing and dancing. They are the best show I have seen on any cruise. Grease was also done by people who left the ship after two nights.
  18. Sorry but you are totally wrong. The Jersey Boys act were NOT crew entertainers and were not the result of auditions. They came on the ship in one port and left two ports later. They were singers from the Broadway show (all had appeared in their roles on Broadway in the Four Seasons show (The Jersey Boys). They were certainly NOT cruise ship entertainers as most of their performances were in theatres on land . The same people toured extensively in the States.
  19. I don't know which they were though they had appeared in a Broadway show. They were brilliant and also performed to packed crowds in the Promenade on the overhead 'bridges'. I have to say they were the best show I have seen on a cruise. Who is Ray Quin?
  20. My comment was about the general entertainment not the limelight to which I have never been to. I repeat, after paying thousands for a cruise which includes ents I am not about to pay an extra £25=£30 for the Limelight.I have to say I have not heard of either of the people you mention so I cannot comment on them. The Jersey Boys, who I am sure most people have heard of performed several times on RCI...and it was free.!
  21. Again it is a matter of personal opinion. On RCI we saw Grease and Jersey Boys, both performed in the theatre with 'extras' on the promenade..The large P&O ships have a lot of venues but the bubble is out due to acoustics so bad you can hardly hear the words. I don't know about the Limelight as I will not pay £25-£30 extra to see acts. The crew of entertainers in the theatre are good on P&O but (again IMO are nowhere near as good as RCI.
  22. So would new crew isolate on the ship? Surely this will put passengers in danger of infection. Would P&O be so carefree with passengers health?
  23. Regarding Cruise Connect, we have had a number of cruises on P&O. Whichever berth they are in the coaches are parked there ready. As other ships are berthed far apart passengers from other berths do not come in. On all our coaches it has always been just the passengers from the ship in that berth where the coaches are waiting that board the bus. Maybe it has something to do with running to Scotland or the number of people wanting to return to Edinburgh.
  24. I have never tried the Limelight club as I will not pay £20-£30 extra . The entertainment is generally not good and the acoustics in the bubble are a little below our local pubs level. Many complain about it.
