There is an organised plan from the former minister of tourism and greek people in the cruise industry to promote Thessaloniki as much as they can to cruise companies. Well the reviews from the visitors this season are not so good. Even if the former minister is from there, they should first check how the port of Thessaloniki (an industrial city and second largest in Greece) can handle the cruise passengers, what it can offer and then decide to put it on the front of their plans for Eastern Med cruises. Thessaloniki is like Athens without Akropolis.

These itineraries are sooooo bad! Seriously the itinerary planning department of Carnival has the easiest job in the world! Make the same itineraries over and over...

Zakynthos was a disaster last year in our cruise with Celebrity. Tendering took more than an hour to the shore. Shipwreck Beach was closed due to rocks falling from the cliff. They substitute the boat trip with a photostop from above the cliff, that was ridiculous. Zakynthos is clearly not a port for cruise ships as it has no infrastructures nor places to see. No wonder that Celebrity is not going there in 2024.

It seems they dropped the island of Corfu and put the small boring port of Katakolon for Olympia in every cruise. Sacrifice a greek island for a mainland port. Good job NCL! If you have been in Olympia as we did, then don't bother getting off the ship. And don't be fooled to get an excursion through NCL! Private excursions just outside the port for 1/3 of the price.

Greek press is reporting that the Azamara Journey made the tugboat sink so possibly the captain is questioned about the incident and since ongoing investigation is taking place clearance for the ship cannot be given... Either it was tugboat's commander's fault, your captain's fault or a malfuctioning on the systems of Journey, one person ended up dead so the situation right now is very serious.
