  1. I'm trying to turn a new leaf and avoid the long, drawn-out debates/disagreements/less-than-upbeat discussions. So, my final comment: Should we explain? Not if you don't want to, it's an option only you can make. But, the OP was not a question of "WHY". Which was your earlier discussion.
  2. I've never done the "Guaranteed Cabin" thing. But, I have tried this bar code trick with my regular booking(s) and Android phone when I heard/read about it a long time ago. The bar code did have the numbers at the bottom but I scanned it anyway and it did come up with the exact cabin # that I knew I had. Does this help or do anything to add to the question? I don't know. Just my experience and I thought I'd throw it out there.
  3. But, nothing about the why! The OP was not a WHY post.
  4. Agreed. The first Paragraph is WHO and HOW. The last paragraph is asking WHO, not why. In the middle is blowing his/her own horn a little but also explaining that he/she can't afford a $20,000.00 cruise, even with their considerable wealth.
  5. I've got a bunch of old T-Shirts in the back of my closet that I'd be willing to let go for $10.00 each, unseen, of course. LOL
  6. I'm sure it does. But, I bet those same people use towels, washcloths, napkins, sheets, et al, while cruising and never give it a thought. Not unique to cruising either. Hotel towels and washcloths. And items, like clothing, you send out to your local laundry & dry cleaners. Nope, at least on a cruise ship I know that they are poaching/deep frying/scorching/boiling my laundry. I'd be a happy camper if someone else's mesh bag opened up and a hundred-dollar bill found its way into mine, though. LOL
  7. Wish we cruised together, I'd ask for the yokes you don't want. No yoke!
  8. How about those very kind and considerate people that put their lounders in the already narrow walking path? Talk about the epitome of a lack of situational awareness and inconsideration. I just can't believe the crew doesn't do something about it either until someone complains and there is no guarantee they will then.
  9. We don't pack with the ship's laundry in mind. We wear and get cleaned without thought. We don't take any "formal wear". So, it's cotton, synthetics, and so on. No lace or silk. So, we have never had a problem with the ship's laundry service. Yes, it is hot, very hot. Funny thing though. My son-in-law brought one of his favorite recreational use shirts. It had a stain on it that had been there for a long long time. He sent it into the ship's laundry and it came back with the stain GONE! So, now I take a shirt or two with stains and get them cleaned by the ship's laundry and have had good luck with it.
  10. I can't speak to any of the post other than what I'm quoted. The government is big into semantics, scheduling, and blurred meanings and purposes. My only guess is that an "annual Inspection" is conducted annually regardless of other spot/surprise/unannounced/Special Purpose/whatever inspections. This may be the 3rd inspection in 3 weeks but it also may be THE "Scheduled Annual Inspection" while the others were otherwise. Just my guess!
  11. I think and this is an assumption that more people would rather the inconsiderate amongst us hog the cubby holes rather than the loungers/chairs. EDITED IN: But, being inconsiderate, they'd probably hog both!
  12. LOL, that's basically what I typed in my response but then deleted it.
  13. And that's fine. But you made a blanket statement. What's needed for one may not be needed for another!
  14. Have they gone back to "Boarding Times" or are they still "Terminal Arrival Times"? At least that's how I remember it back in May 2022 and October 2022. But yes, I agree, if one member of the party has an earlier "Boarding Time/Arrival Time", the rest can join in.
  15. I don't see it on my android app. But I seem to remember seeing it in the past. So, I'm wondering if it only shows up when all options are available on the app. For example, I don't have reservations for specialty restaurants available yet. I don't cruise until January, so most things aren't available yet and I haven't purchased anything yet. And I only have one cruise booked right now.
  16. Oh, I know you are talking about your own preference. Some people, including me, consider it an exciting milestone, of many, in the journey to the next cruise. I also prefer to have a color-printed luggage tag rather than have a porter, hand print one at the terminal. But, that's just me!
  17. Well, I didn't mention you or anybody else by name. However, If there is a rule/law that prohibits something and you do the opposite or an end-around or whatever, then by definition, you are breaking that rule/law, aren't you! Regardless of how many times you did it or others have or where in the world you did it. If you are the one that gets caught or you are the one that created a safety situation, you are responsible, right! If you drive for a million miles and each mile is over the speed limit and you didn't get caught once for those one million miles, is the next mile Okay or do you stand a chance of being pulled over, for that one mile, and get a ticket? Or if everybody else around you is speeding but you are the only one that gets stopped for speeding, do all the others matter? Answer: No! As stated many times in the past, I'm not risk-averse. However, I do care for the safety of my friends and family.
  18. Yes, I always forget about that, we use it almost daily. It's worth its weight in gold.
  19. When we cruise Star, the internet is included for each member of our party in the suite. However, when we cruise Balcony, I don't purchase any Internet package. Now that I'm D, I get one day of the Internet included and that's more than enough to upload pictures/videos. However, if I did buy an Internet package and I had kids with me, I'd get the one-device option. Kids should be out there having fun, not sitting in the cabin with their noses attached to a device screen. I'd give them, maybe, an hour a day, each, which you can control.
  20. 100% right on. I've never understood the mentality of, others's got away with it so it's Okay if I do it. If it is against the rules and you decide to give it a go. You may get a terminal employee that is conscience, well trained, and/or have good management that enforces the rules. I don't want to be part of the XX% that does get caught and inconvenienced/embarrassed. It's just toooooooo easy to follow the rules. AND I don't want to put others in possible danger.
  21. Yep, rich with great friends, family, and a little disposable income.
  22. Yep, met him on our May, Alaska cruise, he's a fine fella and has great videos, really enjoy them. He's all business though, not that there is anything wrong with that. He was just an Assitant Casino Manger/Host back then. I hope he has been promoted, he deserves it.
  23. Between putting in your login and password, you need to tap the "ESC" key quickly 4 times, then slowly 3 times, hold down the "3" key and the "END" key while sticking your right index finger into your left ear. Repeat 7 times. This is true, I read it on the Internet. BUT SERIOUSLY: Me too. No problem signing in.
  24. We cruise Star, on average, every other cruise. We book well in advance and save a little every month in our savings account. So, we are earning interest, admittedly, very little interest, until it is time to pay off the cruise. We pay off the cruise using my RCCL Visa, just to get the points. Within a day or two, whenever the charge isn't pending anymore, I pay that off with the money I saved in the savings account (I also use my tax refund, if any). So, I didn't get charged any interest on my "no fee" credit card. When the award points are calculated and applied to my Visa account, I then transfer them to the cruise that I just paid off as OBCs. That's a lot of financial jujitsu that I didn't pay a penny for. However, Royal paid the BOA a fee by %age for my charge though. Having said all that, I'm sure there are many others that do the same or have a similar strategy. There is NO, one size fits all.
  25. Nice words, but that doesn't change the behavior or bring it to light.
