Please also note that not all HAL employees are well versed in Co upgrades. If you don’t get the right answer the first time, call back until you do.

I think you just get a yoga mat. Closer room to the spa, too. You can chat with HAL on their website to be certain.

It seems as though the Tracy Arm Fjord & Glacier Explorer excursion is the way to go on a first cruise to Alaska. The ship drops off passengers going on this excursion at approximately 0900. Would approximating a 1000 start time for this excursion be an appropriate guesstimate for those that have done this before? The excursion lasts approximately 6 hours. So, you may be back to the ship around 1600 (4 pm). The ship is in Juneau until 2200 (10 pm). My question is... if going on this excursion, does it legitimately leave any time for an additional excursion in Juneau? Or is this where one must make a decision - either Tracy Arm or a Juneau excursion?

Scored our aft-views with the Club Orange upgrade. Currently booked on deck 5, dead center. Deck 6 is also available. Does anyone know if the VS Aft-view staterooms have any square footage differences between Deck 5 and 6? I know I can call. Just thought I’d ask on here first.

No, VS are Aft-View Verandahs on Decks 5, 6, and 8. I just called my TA and confirmed that I can, in fact, move from VH to VS with Club Orange. She is in the process of calling HAL now to do it. It'll be my first ever cruise!

Great to hear. Did the complimentary stateroom upgrade explanation on HALs CO page have the asterisk where it states, “to the best available room within the meta category…” at the time of your upgrades? That is what today’s PCC pointed to today. She said that VS is not within the same meta category as VH and, therefore, not permitted as a Club Orange upgrade.

My TA is going to attempt to book a cruise for us today going the Club Orange route for an upgrade. We are looking to cruise on the Koningsdam, hoping to book Obstructed Verandah VH, purchase Club Orange, and get upgraded to Aft-view Verandah VS. I chatted with HAL days ago, where they said this was possible. My TA called them two days ago, where they said this was possible. I called them today, where the PCC said that this was not possible. There is space to purchase Club Orange, but today's PCC said we can only upgrade up one meta category. Essentially, the PCC said if I booked VH with Club Orange, that I could only upgrade to VF, which is the Verandah without obstruction. There are staterooms in the VS category still available on this cruise. I am not sure who is right. I'll know more once my TA attempts to book.

I am considering this as well. Aft-View would be the upgrade. Any insights? I think they’ll be fine. But if there are any opinions, I welcome them!
