That's as straightforward, tell it like it is description. As some others have said I'll be following this and making a decision before our final payment is due.

So did they give you a reason...even a crummy one?

Our final payment is due in early Feb. I'll be keeping an eye on this for sure.

It may not be required but that doesn't mean they can't do it. Right?

Is the downside just a little cost due to time lost? I'd consider it well worth it.

I just read today that they're saying the wait time has IMPROVED to 2-3 months 🙂 And you can renew your passport as far ahead as you want.

Several years ago we were on an escorted land tour that included Dubrovnik and a gazillion people thronging the streets. We finally broke away and went up a side street/alley. Then another one and finally found a pub where had some lunch and a glass of wine. What a mess. We heard later that UNESCO had threatened them with revocation of the heritage status if they didn't do something about it. It was clearly the cruise ships, multiple ones in a single day. I've heard that it's gotten better so maybe they did. Just an observation.
