Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Sabitinis first night, then Crown Grill our last night. Thanks for the info. I'd seen some sample menus online, but no pricing or notes on there. I knew it wasn't unlimited, figured it might just be app/entree with dessert extra or just from a selected group of entrees. There is always fine print somewhere !
  2. New to Princess and cruising. We will be on the Royal Princess in June. We have the premier fare, so are going to use the speciality dining perk. I've made our dining reservations at the specialty restaurants for our 1st and last nights of our cruise So - what is included with premiere- I'm does it include appetizer/entree/dessert? Or just specific menu items? Do the gratuities paid with the package include the waiters in those dining areas? ( of course I know I can tip more for great service, and will - but if I am tipping a bit extra on a already paid tip, or tipping from zero matters in figuring amount) I see a note of 18% service charge- 18% of what amount, if it's included with my fare?
  3. Are any of the casual dining restaurants open for lunch on embarkation day?
  4. Thanks, I was confused bc there was a mention of having to order through the app, for delivery to your table, and then complaints that it took too long or never arrived. That post said they left the MDR, and went to a bar just to get drinks with dinner in a timely manner. Which confused me, as i thought you would just place your order to your waiter when you selected your dinner choices.
  5. I've searched, but have seen conflicting answers, but many of these posts were pre vs post covid, or before/ after recent changes to plus/premier fares, so that might account for it. I'm new to cruising, so apologies if this is obvious somehow. So - people on recent sailings- specifically Royal Princess in Alaska( (if that makes a difference) please comment We have the Premier fare, and are doing 7 day Alaskan cruise in June - Whittier to Vancouver. Can I order a glass of wine or cocktail with dinner in MDR or specialty restaurant, and it would be included via the Premier fare, or do I have to stop in a bar on my way to dinner and bring it with me?
  6. Every zipline I have been on, has weighed everyone, before being issued the harnesses etc. It's a safety thing. If you're on the borderline, skip the premier desserts, and take advantage of the fitness classes! 😀 No zipline company is going to take the liability risk if you don't fall within their posted weight range.
  7. We sail to Alaska in June on the Royal Princess, Whittier to Vancouver. My husband and I have a regular balcony cabin, Port side, very near the aft lifts on deck 10. Hopefully that won't be too noisy, but that's not my question. We sleep in a big king sized bed at home. So I'm going back and forth on how to request the bed configuration. In the app it says Queen or Twin. Now, we've been married for 40 years, but we are not spooners, I like my space when I sleep, and also a lot of time when it's just two beds pushed together you get an uncomfortable dip in the middle anyway. I'm leaning toward the twin configuration, I think we'll sleep better that way. But is there any advantage either way otherwise, like space in the cabin or something else?
  8. Thanks all for the replies. I'll bring the convertor and I have an extension cord that is supposedly " cruise approved", but I kept hearing that they sometimes get pulled out anyway. I just figured requesting ahead of time might be the low stress option.
  9. Thanks, we have some of these converters from other European vacations!
  10. My husband uses a cpap; I've seen posts saying that they've requested a extension cord, since there were no outlets near the bed. But those were referencing other ships, any info about Royal Princess? I went on the app, and tried to find a place to make a request, but didn't find it. I can see choices on queen or two twin, dining times, or allergies. We sail in June. I'd hate to wait to board, then not have it available, or them not have enough.
  11. For DCL it's distributed like this Dining Room Server $4.75/day Assistant Dining Room Server $3.75 Head Server $1.25 Stateroom Host $4.75 If you stay consierge they recommend $8/ day I couldn't see any breakout listed for Princess like this. I gave extra to our main server and the stateroom host. They both did a great job
  12. Thanks! I'm probably overthinking it. New to cruising!
  13. Question- I have only cruised once before, on Disney. There it was rotational dining in each MDR, with the same staff each night. We prepaid the Gratuity. On the next to last day, they supplied envelopes you could add cash to for steward or consierge staff or servers, which you could hand out last day. There was a sheet that listed how much of the prepaid Gratuity went to each person. So for Princess, how does this work? I've prepaid the "crew appreciation". Do you just hand people like your steward cash at the end of cruise? Or each day? Are your servers different each day? How are tips for bartenders handled with drinks that covered under Plus, or for servers in casual dining areas that are covered under Plus. I'm American, so used to tipping in restaurants etc. But that I'm usually just adding to credit card bill. Ive left some cash and note for housekeeping in hotels. Or given the valet a few bucks But it seems awkward to just keeping handing people cash all over the place. Plus I usually don't carry much cash traveling, relying on credit card. Can you tip people like your steward through guest services, like added to your bill? Just making sure I've got it covered, for planning purposes, not complaining about it. Really- not here to debate tipping culture. Just trying to figure out the best way to handle things. Like if we have a sea day, and I'm exploring the ship, do I need to carry a purse around, so I have cash with me? Do I tip the steward first day if introduced, or just at end ? Do you bring envelopes? Do you leave cash on table at MDR or give to waiter?
