  1. Wow! We just got upgraded from a GTY OV picture window to a balcony on NCL Jewel sailing 6/24/24 to Alaska! I really was not expecting it. Balcony rooms have been sold out for awhile now, and weren’t even available when we originally booked. I bid $260/pp, but to outright upgrade would have been about $3500. I’m happy!
  2. We did a two week land tour to Norway in 2017. Oslo/Bergen were expensive, but the countryside I found to be no more expensive than what we were used to at home. Of course we weren’t doing excursions and avoided sit-down restaurants and alcohol! I’m sure things have increased a lot since then.
  3. Specifically looking at Destination Highlight: Bird Safari By Boat Honningsvag, Norway. Anyone have access to prices? TY!
  4. TY! We were in Norway in 2017 for a land tour. This itinerary is exciting to me because the only repeat would be Flam. I’m comfortable booking independent excursions and renting cars, but car rental prices seem to have increased dramatically since then!
  5. You can book Alaska Railroad tickets on their site. The train departs Seward at 6:00 pm and arrives at 10:15 pm. There is also bus service. I read previously that NCL will open transfers around 50 days prior, but we are staying longer in Seward so booked the Goldstar rail on our own.
  6. Can anyone who has been, or will be, on this cruise give general input as far as cost of excursions? I am considering this itinerary in 2025, but I’d like a more realistic idea of what total costs may be after excursions are factored in. Thanks! I would be looking at excursions in Flam, Geiranger, Honningsvag, Molde, Olden, and possibly Stavanger.
  7. Our Spring Break is always either the first or second week of March. We don’t have a 2024-2025 district calendar yet. I personally wouldn’t count on there being less kids on a 12 day cruise during that timeframe.
  8. Super helpful responses, thank you! They have my plain Latte so I’m happy!
  9. We are staying at the Pinnacle Hotel Harborfront. We stayed there last time we were in Vancouver and liked it. It is within two blocks or so walking distance of the pier. We plan to just take the light rail or whatever they call the train to Canada Place and walk to the hotel.
  10. So if it’s not a real Starbucks, how is the coffee? Sincerely, very picky coffee drinker
  11. We are staying at The Coast Inn by Lake Hood!
  12. I sincerely doubt that National Park rangers are advertising for any cruise line. I think it depends on what you want to do in Ketchikan. Ward Cove is much closer to Totem Bight SP. My son wanted to zip line so that’s what we’ll be doing there, and we booked that excursion thru NCL. There are trade-offs for every route, every line. You just have to decide what is most important to you. I have never cruised Princess so can’t comment there. How do the port times compare?
  13. National Park rangers board both cruise lines for Glacier Bay. We chose NCL from Vancouver to Seward for my 18 y/o and I. I’m not sure what you mean by tough dining. It’s freestyle. If you’re cruising from Seattle I’d choose the line that offers the best times in port.
  14. We are going to go to the Capilano Suspension bridge park and/or rent bikes and bike to Stanley Park via the seawall trail. Last time we were there we walked a portion of the seawall trail, walked around downtown, and went to Granville Island.
  15. We chose to rent a car for the day and will drive to the YT!
  16. Making MDR reservations isn’t even an option for my June cruise. It says something like, “Reservations not accepted” in the app.
  17. For just four days I would choose two areas close together. We have two full days we will spend in Seward and wish we had another because there are so many things we are interested in doing there! It will make your time more enjoyable and less rushed.
  18. Is there a way to tell the hours your ship will be there ahead of time? My itinerary does not provide any hours. It just states “Cruising Glacier Bay”. NCL Jewel 6/29/24
  19. My husband went snowboarding at Sunshine Village (Banff) and Whistler at the very end of April. The road to Moraine Lake wasn’t yet open for the season, and there were other road closures for wildlife purposes. I would check to make sure that you’re able to do what you want in Banff NP before booking.
  20. I have done neither, but I would choose kayak simply because they are more stable as the weight is closer to the water. Canoes tend to be more tippy. Once I tried kayaking I never went back to a canoe!
  21. Thanks for the concern. He’s not one for mocktails, either. Root Beer would be the only thing he’d drink that is a Coke product.
  22. I have a question. My husband has a legitimate allergy to alcohol. He cannot drink even the smallest amount. We are thinking about booking a family trip to the Caribbean in 2025 or 2026. Is there a medical exemption? Because yes, I do want the FAS package.
  23. Only select states bordering Canada offer EDLs - I know for certain MN, MI, and WA. There may be others but there aren’t many. Nevermind - it was addressed above. Minnesota’s is very obvious - big red, bold letters state ENHANCED DRIVER’s LICENSE.
