  1. Not sure I understand your plan to purchase excursions on line and then cancel and rebook them on board. We've always purchased our shore exc. on line because we saved minimum of 10% pp. The one time I had to change one the amount I paid on line was refunded to my credit card and the one I rebooked (same price) cost about $10 more on board. This happened over a year ago, so I don't think it's anything new.

The option to use OBC to pay for Shore Excursions on the website before the cruise is fairly new.

Like the OP, many of us purchased shore excursions with our credit cards, which has always been the standard procedure BEFORE the option to pre-pay with OBC was available.

The thought was likely to cancel the pre-paid excursions and re-book using OBC instead.

Sounds like celebrity is not entertaining that option at this time.

  2. I don't understand the part about paying for excursion and then canceling so you can use your OBC when you can now book excursions before sailing using your OBC.

I'm not the OP, but we might have tried the same thing.

As the process of booking and paying with OBC before the cruise is still fairly new, many future cruisers (like my own family) had already pre-paid for our excursions before the OBC payment option was announced.

The good news is that we had already decided we would use our OBC for drinks anyway!

  3. I'd take the Concierge room, for sure!

Most cabins on any ship have other cabins across the hall from them.

You won't even know anyone is there. You are more likely to hear the people on either side or above you!

The better cabin location, along with preferred boarding, embarkation lunch in the dining room made the Concierge cabin the choice for us!

    :)

  4. If you are in a Concierge cabin, you will have the option of dropping your bags just inside the dining room when you go to your embarkation lunch. Otherwise, check most of your bulky items. It amazes me to see folks schlepping around full size cases on embarkation day.

    THANKS!

We actually are in Concierge Cabins, so this will work out well for us!

(Our "carry-on" bags have a lot of "free space" ....mainly for anything we might purchase on the cruise!) HAHA! ;p

  5. I looked around the website but could not find a specific answer....

We'll be on the EQUINOX in a couple weeks for the first time.

Is there a "luggage storage room" on the ship where people can check their carry-on bags while they eat lunch on embarkation day?

We've taken advantage of this offering on some of the other lines, but would like to know what to expect on Celebrity. (For example....on NCL, I think they used one of the "meeting rooms" as a luggage and coat check room. It was staffed by an attendant who gave us a claim ticket to come back and get our bags when we were ready.)

    THANK YOU!

    :)

  6. The trouble is that if things are not there and you are unaware that they should be, how do you know to ask for them....... I suggest taking the relevant page from a Celebrity brochure with you. It may seem odd to some, but little things like the shower gel should be in Concierge even though it is not in a basic balcony cabin and if you have decided to save on packing by leaving out your shower gel you need to know you can ask.

I am sure you will love your cruise, and hopefully everything will be there for you, have fun :)

    Thanks so much!

We are really looking forward to the EQUINOX in 2 weeks!

    I agree!

I planned this cruise not only for myself, but also for my parents, who will we sailing with us.

When I booked our 2 "Concierge" cabins, I was thinking more about Mom and Dad then myself.

Then they were nearly the same price as balcony cabins and included some OBC and Prepaid Gratuities, so it was an easy decision to choose Celebrity this time.

I did my research and am excited about the "little extras" that this cruise will offer that we did not have in the past. While they are not "make or break" items by any means, they were promised and paid for, so folks should be able to feel confident that they will be delivered. I have faith that Celebrity will deliver in many ways!

    COUNTING DOWN THE DAYS!!!

  7. ...But I feel sorry for the first time Celebrity cruisers who are probably unaware of the little niceties that they are missing out on and may never know unless it comes up in conversation or they read a forum such as this.

It should not be that difficult for stewards to have a check list of what should be in each cabin category and ensure there is uniformity. If it is to do with cruise wide cut backs surely it would be the same for everyone not just hit and miss. So is it more a problem with stewards? I know that there is now only one per cabin rather than also having an assistant.

    I agree 100%!

Our first Celebrity Cruise is coming up in a couple weeks and would like to experience the difference these little "extras" can make in Concierge Class that we have not experienced on other lines.

If they are missing, that would be a bad first impression.

  8. We choose Concierge Class if the cost is not a lot more. Its just an assortment of extra little perks which make me smile :0

And isn't that really what it's all about?!?!

    Too many people forget that....

    WE CAN'T WAIT!! :D

  9. Concierge also has a luncheon in the MDR on embarkation day. And let's not forget the footstools on the balcony! In my opinion, on the Equinox, I wouldn't spend extra for Concierge Class unless accumulating the extra points is important to you. Save your money for something else on board.

But how GREAT for those who were able to get Concierge Rooms for the same

price as a balcony when we booked!

    :D

  10. Not everybody enjoys dining with strangers and not everybody cruises for the specific purposes of making a large number of new friends. Just saying. Some cruise for a quiet getaway and doing their own thing independently.

    This!

I have to take strangers to lunch or dinner many days for work, so its good to spend vacation time with my family.....

AND we can eat whenever we get hungry....not just at 6 or 8:30.

That's why there are choices! :)

  11. Princess sends out blast emails from the cruise director which elaborates on outside entertainment coming on the ship and the shows. It's a nice touch. It would be nice if other cruise lines followed suit.

    Yes!

Our experience with Norwegian and Royal Caribbean was the same! We knew well in advance what the entertainment would be on our cruises.

That's why I was looking for the same on Celebrity!

    I guess we'll be surprised! :D

  12. The MDR has available every night

    Shrimp Cocktail

    Escargot

    French Onion Soup

    Caeser Salad

    Steak

    Chicken

    Salmon

    Crème Brulee

    Cheesecake

    Is this TRUE??

Because that's pretty close to my dinner order every night! HAHA!

The rest of the family will be THRILLED if they can get ESCARGOT, SHRIMP COCKTAIL, and ONION SOUP every night!

    Yes....we're easy to please! :D

  13. Thank You!

I was curious if the "XL" vehicles were as readily available as the "regular" cars....and it sounds like they are!

We've used Larry's a few times in the past with good service, but the limo price is nearly double UBER now, so we'll try XL from FLL this time.

(Also..last time with Larry's, they parked in the parking garage at FLL and we had to walk quite a distance to get to the car with our bags. With my parents with us this time, it will be easier to have UBER pick us up at the curb.)

  14. Do any Celebrity veteran cruisers know where I might be able to find the current entertainment lineup on the Equinox??

Someone asked me what shows we're on our ship, and I can't seem to find anything specific anywhere on the Celebrity website.

It's our first time on this line, and we're still trying to find our way around their site.

We would like to know what we can look forward to!

    THANK YOU!!
