Our RCCL luggage is often in the hall, but often at the other end of the ship, or the other side of the ship! Hardly anywhere near our cabin.

we don’t mind taking a walk down our hall to find the luggage.  That way we can grab it and go ahead and unpack.

Ours has never been on the other side of the ship…..guess we have been lucky….😎

  2. Have had my pacemaker for over 2yrs now and have sailed multiple times.  I never go through the metal detector.  I just let them know I have one and they pull me aside for a quick pat down.  Never needed to produce any paperwork…but I do have my card with me if needed

We are sailing on the Carnival Magic on November 26th. We need to park at the port and are trying to decide whether to park at the port or offsite. We are leaning toward  parking at the port because we could just walk to the car and get on our way as we have a long drive back to Orlando. We see that there is a garage at terminal G but we also see an uncover lot near terminal E I believe. If anyone has parked at either one give some advice or details on this it would be appreciated. Thank you

any local will tell you for Miami it is best to park at the port….unless you are feeling lucky….

We will be cruising out of Miami in Feb and need a place to park our truck.  We are 21 feet long and just under 10 feet tall.  Any suggestions other than the $44 port parking?

That definitely does not make sense...and his behavior was totally uncalled for.  I am so sorry you had to go through that.  So weird as the porter I talked to a few months ago was happy to tell me I could drop bags off as early as 7:30.

Yikes, I hope I don't run into that mean porter next month.  Will still try to arrive at our usual 9:30 and hope for the best.  Thanks for the info.  🙂

He wasn’t a porter…..he was the garage entrance psycho!!  😂😂

7:30 am, as was told by the porters.

Our usual is to arrive around 9 am, drop the luggage with the porters, continue up into the ramp to the left to find a parking spot.   Leave the carry on bags in the vehicle, walk next door to Grills for a "Bon Voyage" Bloody Mary and enjoy the view of our new home.  Then walk back to the vehicle to pick up the carry on bags to check in.  Many go there for breakfast as well.

😉   Cheers and have a great cruise.

when we sailed on the Wonder a couple of weeks ago we came at our usual 9:15 time and the garage was closed.  We were approached by a very rude and loud port worker who literally screamed at us and told us to come back at 9:30.   We were shocked but left and came back at 9:35 and it was still closed!  Although there were 3 cars already sitting on the ramp waiting to go in this same crazy worker approached us still yelling it wasn’t opened!  My husband told him it was 9:35 and if he had a problem with us to go get his supervisor!  He stormed off, the gate was opened and we went into the garage with the other people waiting.

it was the weirdest and most upsetting scenario I have ever had at this terminal.  Maybe he was having a bad day or off his meds but he clearly didn’t like us for some reason.  so just be aware if Terminal 1 is his permanent post you very well may not get in until after 9:30.

sailed out of T5 this past Saturday and had a completely opposite experience.  Everyone was so very nice even though we were early😁

There is a surface parking lot at terminal one to the left. If you're facing the terminal, can you park there instead of the covered parking garage?

we just got off the Wonder Sunday and they were doing some kind of construction out there and it wasn’t open.  They have parking now in front of the terminal and to the right side of the parking deck.

It looked like they were expanding the surface parking on the left side

  8. There are many, many things in our world that will never be the same because of Covid.  While I am very sad for the things we lost I know that I can either keep wishing for the way things were OR I can accept what I cannot change and find the positive things in my life now.

At my age I am well aware I don’t have a lot of years left to travel.  I still love cruising and will continue to do so as long as I can.

May you all look for glasses that are “half full and not half empty” and be happy you have a glass at all….

  9. Just got off the Wonder this morning.  We used the Passport facial recognition and breezed through as they have a number of stations set up.

All others have to go to another line and present themselves and that line was getting longer and longer as we left.

So glad we have a passport so that we can utilize this feature.  You barely stop walking on the way out of the terminal….

There is no problem in the fake Falmouth port area. There are gates to the real Falmouth which I advise the typical tourist not to visit. And the only Jamaicans that can get in are vetted workers. I have been in the real Falmouthand there are police every few feet and i wanted to see it but once was enough.

which is why my post specifically said  “outside the gate”. 😎😎

  11. Not a fan of this port at all!!  Way too sketchy if you go outside the port gates.

Last cruise had a fellow passenger who worked for the NYC police dept.  We tried to warn him but he said he had seen it all and he and his family would be fine.  They lasted less than 10 min outside the gates. He came and found us and said “you were right….I should never have taken my family out there”.

So go at your own risk and if you have no problems…great!  But if you do…..you have been warned!!

    Hi all,

I've searched a bit and cannot find an answer.  Please pardon me if this is a repeat question.  We haven't cruised with the new Diamond drink deal of 4 drinks a day up to a $14 value for each.  That's easy enough to figure out, but my question is what if my wife wants to get a frozen drink?  Those can be over $14, so can she apply the voucher to get $14 off the total price or are you not allowed to use the voucher that way (like a coupon in a store)?

    Thanks!

we order frozen drinks all the time and have never been charged anything extra….so they must all be $14 or less

I am a first time Royal cruiser. I booked a last minute cruise for next Saturday.  The only check-in time I could get is 2:00 pm.  How strict are they about showing up early?  If we got there at 1:00 would they make us wait?

If you get there at 1pm you will have no problem.  By then boarding will have already started and there should be no crowds for you to deal with.

Plus the rooms should be ready when you get onboard…..

Agree. Also sad for those waiting to board who are unable to apply deductive reasoning (i.e. Ship docking Friday would be difficult to board on Thursday).

saw another post where a person called Royal late last night and was told the ship was on schedule and sailing today!!   Given that information they are going to head to the port based on what they were told.

it seems the only ones getting enough information to use “deductive reasoning” are the people ONBOARD getting their information from their Captain because it is not coming from Royal…

Folks on Serenade say they won’t dock until Friday, a day late.  Claim this is being communicated on ship.

Passengers expecting to depart tomorrow haven’t heard squat since last night (stay tuned).  So is the person on the ship a troll or is the company woefully inadequate when it comes to customer service.

the Port of Tampa is closed.   It is sad that this has not been communicated to those waiting to board ..
