  1. Alas, they won't. That is the same story that repeats on longer cruises overseas, and the transpacific cruises. They will only test according to the protocols - those presenting with symptoms, or as required by their destination ports. Up to 3% is considered a healthy cruise, and they won't go out of their way to potentially trigger that level. Not just a Princess thing, as they are all following the same path. Not a cynical as it sounds, but it is not any individual they are responding to, but the ship number. As it reads for your situation, they will take very good care of you as a confirmed positive. Our state health authorities are also unconcerned with you or I as individual numbers, just that the ship can manage the overall count.
  2. The production show "Encore" has just been postponed till the last night. Apparently the Majestic Princess singers & dancers are busy fixing the engine.
  3. @Kiwi_cruiser You didn't fix that engine too well. The rubber band on one of the engines has let go, so we will be 2hrs late into Brisbane tomorrow. i get the feeling this could be a recurring theme this summer.
  4. We have been allowed to pass through the buffet on Majestic to get to the aft deck. They accepted the reason and let us through. Today we had a buffet lunch, and there were no attendants at the wash area, with most just walking past. In the end, the non-washers/sanitisers are present on every ship. We always sanitise again after handling the shared utensils, and that has worked well over the years to protect us from various cruise bugs.
  5. Another gorgeous day at sea, and we have given up on making the most of our drink packages. Still mask free, and the coughing has died off following 5 days of warm weather. Still mask free, and no tables spotted in the corridors. I will get ship and cabin photos up tomorrow while we are docked in Brisbane. We have 2 x USB sockets on one side of the bed, as well as an Aussie outlet, US and Euro ones. This is in a mini. I liove the cabin, but hate the location, which we had little choice in as part of the swap over from Royal Princess. Deck 8, forward and starboard. No protection overhead, and no private from decks above. The balcony door for the cabin above is above our sitting area, and closes with a thud. The theatre is below, and while I don't mind a bit of sound, the doof doof vibrates the whole cabin. In anything more than slight seas, the cabin creaks, groans and clunks. With waste volume from above, the toilet can take hours before it will flush during the evening, but I guess that is better than having things backing-up. For anyone on deck 8 starboard aft, your unprotected deck is directly above the smoking area, and will be noticeable..
  6. Hopefully not too many, as the shock media will be waiting near the pier. Is it only those planning on going ashore, or everybody.
  7. We will cruise them all, and have a couple of short ones on Splendor next year. In a word for me, busy. Busy decor, busy list of activities, busy in most places around the ship. Not that 4he food is better or worse than P&O, just different menus, plus the option of no extra charge on burgers & pizza etc. We still prefer Princess, but more than happy with most things about Carnival. Those prices will just be in play for this season on Luminosa, so no better time to try for yourself.
  8. Sort of. They can make something akin to a Toblerone, but not on the menus. When you say start the day, how early? The main bars open at 11am. Bloody Mary's are available, so there must be an early bar somehere. Espresso Martinis sit just outside the plus drink package, so you pay the excess - $4, I think.
  9. Sad part is, if that happened on Quantum of the Seas today, you would be taken from your balcony cabin and moved to an inside/outside cabin in their iso block. There is no guarantee you will keep your cabin in those circumstances. After all, they are crediting your iso days, and prefer you not to use your balcony.
  10. Same-o. A balcony is a nice to have, and minis and suites even nicer, but we can still happily cruise insides. On cruises like Rock the Boat, an inside cabin offers better sleep-ins, and keeps the price in our budget. For an inside, we spend more time on deck in/out of ports vs hanging on the balcony. Wr don't miss much, but like a bit of fresh air if the budget allows. $4000 is a lot of money for natural light and fresh air.
  11. As said by Cheryle, with the relaxing of protocols, self-serve is the norm for ships with less than 3% infections. That is what is in play on Majestic ATM. Wash hands again after handling all those tongs and spoons people.
  12. The baked beans are rationed to protect other passengers from crop dusting in the lifts
  13. Take care Julie, enjoy your room service and iso credits. Do you want Karl's email 🤣
  14. After a lovely warm morning in Port Douglas, we are back aboard a couple of hundred dollars lighter. We are now awaiting our share pizza for lunch, and the air-conditioned atrium feels great. PD is a bit touristy and a bit alternative living, but also a beautiful town & marina.
  15. Firstly, there is a nightly rotation of a few musicians through bar areas and.the atrium. Some are quite good, especially a guitar soloist guy. Also a mix of production shows and comedy in the theatre. Yes, Princess winds down a bit earlier than some of the other ships. There is a DJ in the Hollywood Comservatory till late - till midnight at least. As above, 3 x MDRs. We chose Concerto as being more central, and pre-booked on the app. You can always adjust them day by day to suit your plans, but you also have what you think will suit you in reserve when you board. Menus are the same for all of the MDR's. Other inclusive options: Snacks at International Cafe 24hrs Alfredo's pizzeria 11am to 11pm, walk-up On deck grill (burgers, hot dogs, chips, tacos etc) On deck Asian noodle bar My only tip is to do it your way, and there are plenty of options to fit. For your drinks, try everything you want at Good Spirits Bar. Just tell Jhomel & Reny that Geoff & Barbara have set you a challenge to try everything the package will allow for. They are awesome.
  16. Warm bordering on hot already in Port Douglas, and very steamy in the tender. We are just planning a walk up into town, but will see if there is a short tour of interest first.
  17. You can get just about anything on a redbubble t-shirt. Yes, you will get plenty of sidewards glances. My wife has an allergy cough, but still doesn't cough towards others, and covers it with her forearm. I get all rhat, but unless we are cruising past bushfires or active volcanoes, I wouldn't suspect that the numbers coughing would multiply each day. Perhaps they have extra lactose in the milk, but recent history would tell me that isn't the cause.
