  1. Just asked the taxi when we got off ship how much to banana bay. They are hurting for tourism so when he said $25 I said sold. The ride is about 25 minutes. They will not be taxi out there but the hostess/ waitress had a phone and said if he did not come back she could get us away back to the port, but the taxi guy came back he was wanting to get paid. No charge to use their beach but they do expect you to eat or drink at their restaurant, trust me the food is great and the Bahamas mamas were tasty. Just expect service to be slow since you are in the Bahamas mon.

  2. Cab was $25 payable when he came to pick us back up. Yes chairs are available $4 each, no umbrellas. The restaurant has a great shaded wooden deck for, they did not mind us taking one of the picnic tables for the day. Keep in mind certain things are more expensive then others. We did only rum drinks under $5 each and conch fritters and jerk chicken plates. Except the boy wanted a hamburger which was cheap also. Like I said it reminded of back when cruising was more about finding unique things to do and not doing what the masses are doing.

You can look up Banana Bay Freeport on Trip advisor. Just giving my 2 cents since everyone says you need a ship excursion in Freeport and there is nothing to do. This was the best thing we have done in a long time for true serenity. Also their is a place at the north west side of the island called The West End. If we would have had time we would have checked it out also but it was 40 minute drive in the other direction.

  3. Rhapsody use to do key west and carnival gets all the way to the Bahamas . No way oasis class is fitting in key west, they tried with voyager class and it failed. Oasis class will be pretty much same route as liberty minus grand cayman due to tendering. I say bring it on I like different ships more the different places.

  4. Freeport gets a bad rap because people are afraid to go any where but port lucaya. Venture farther down the road. We just went to banana bay and it was pure bliss. A mile of beach with maybe 10 people on it and a great restaurant. Sand is super soft and if the tide is out get ready to find sand dollars. As soon as I figure out how to post photos I will prove it. The whole day including meal for 3, plenty of drinks and the best conch fritters I have ever had for under $130. The only people we ran into were the European locals that live on the island. It totally reminded me of cruising 20 years ago before the ports got packed, with mega ships.

  5. Carnival does not carry Red Bull, they carry Rock Star. They'll have the regular, sugar free, and a couple flavored types. They are not included with bottomless bubbles, but are included with the Cheers package. Your can also carry on 12 normal sized red bull cans if you wish.

How much is a can of Rockstar. $5 or so. Never tried that brand before, do not care for taste of monster. I might carry on at least a 4 pack of SF Red Bull, just to be safe.

  6. What is carnival's energy drink that they keep in stock on the ship? What has been your experience? I prefer sugar free red bull, so hoping they at least have red bull over monster. Also is this covered under the Bottomless bubbles package? I doubt it but just thought I would ask.

  7. Maybe I'm new to this game, but I found a really good rate for next March on Allure. Now since my wife is a teacher and my son is in school, we normally never get the Kids sail free promo because of the blackout dates. For whatever reason next year my son and wife have spring break on March 11th and it does not fall into the Blackout dates for March. Good for me. I looked at a oceanview balcony for 3 and my price comes out to $2200 roughly. To me that is a really good price usually we pay upwards of $3500 for spring break. Just for giggles I look at what the price is just for 2 in the same Cat. It was $1700 roughly. Now I know port fees and taxes are not over $500 just for my son. It appears on my mock booking RC inflated the price for the 2 singles at least $100. Tricky, Tricky...

Anyway I'm still going to book it since I have not paid that amount for 3 in at least 5 years on RC and its Allure so that is a bonus. Love that ship, by the way the new Ship in Miami was $1500 more for the same room. Sorry I will just have to wait. A cruise is a cruise.

  8. a couple months ago they had a Grand turk excursion sale' date=' 10% off. Luckily, Allstate had a 10% off e-gift card available at the same time, so, combined, our Grand Turk excursion is 20% off.

Between this and the aforementioned Mexican one, they do have periodic excursion discount codes. But, they are apparently at random, and short lived.

No reason to wait to book your excursions, hoping for a sale. If you buy them at full price, and a sale comes along, you can cancel, and then rebook at the discounted price (just check to make sure your chosen excursion isn't sold out, or nearly sold out, first).[/quote']

Thanks, that is a good point. Don't think any of the excursions I'm looking at will sell out since we are the only ship in port on most days.

  9. From time to time people post about Discount codes for excursions. Does anyone have a new one. I have a trip coming up in July and was looking to book some excursions. The last discount did not effect me since it was only for Mexican Port of calls, my trip is the Eastern Caribbean. The only thing I can find at the moment is 20% off select spa treatments.

    Thanks for your help.
