Alas the Enlightenment and the whole host of Edinburgh's other historic achievements, buildings and collections seem rarely considered by visitors in the headlong rush to tick off the Royal Mile from their list of 'must sees'!

Ooh. Edinburgh does not rely on tourists. What an insult! It's been here for centuries before tourist hordes descended! Somehow we managed to make rather more than just a living. I know I sound ratty but the way Edinburgh has been turned into a sort of Disneyfied tourist 'experience' is painful and to hear that we depend on it just puts the tin lid on it!

I wouldn't count on Ubers. They are not nearly as prevalent in Edinburgh as apparently in other places. I wouldn't use anything other than a black cab if not using the bus. There will be an absolute avalanche of people leaving the castle after the tattoo. Everyone will be looking for transport. If the ship offers a package including transport I'd snap it up. PS as an Edinburgh resident I avoid the Royal Mile like the plague. It's jam packed with tourists. There are so many other, different, interesting places to go. Good luck anyway.

It's not the weather that does it it's the council maintenance cuts that mean small rough patches turn into gaping holes as the years go on.

Another Edinburgh resident here. The Hop on hop off bus is a really good suggestion for tourists. They go to all the best sights and give good information via the headsets. I wouldn't bother trying to negotiate the local buses right now. The routes are diverted and messed up by road works.

Are they doing CC meet and mingles these days?

On a recent Viking cruise I tested positive so OH and I both quarantined. Never crossed our minds not to as we'd been sharing a cabin for the preceding weeks so it was most unlikely that he wouldn't catch it. He duly tested positive and had a mild cold. I had no symptoms.

All booked on the Italy Intensive 11 day cruise. Looking forward to it now.

Panic over! I watched that video and am quite reassured!

Oh dear. Now I'm concerned. We were just about to sugn up for a cruise in October on Onward literally today. Now I'm not so sure Azamara is for us.

I can't see much difference between club balcony and club balcony plus. What am I missing?
