  1. WonderMan3 - You and Mike really need to try out the One Pool for breakfast in the morning! They have a very nice selection! I have never eaten in the restaurant for breakfast on any of my YC cruises except for day of departure and much preferred the One Pool. I will be interested to hear your thoughts if you do try it. (My experiences were on the Divina and Seaside.)

I am enjoying reading your posts! Thanks for sharing your experiences with us.

  2. Yes, you can book the YC on line. However, it is very very popular and sells out quickly. Also some rooms can be held back due to occupancy restrictions so it pays to keep checking. On some MSC ships there are also inside YC cabins. Since you spend so little time in the cabin itself (due to all the great available areas within the YC), the insides are not a bad option. They also sell out fast!

People who put down towels/books/magazines, etc. on a chaise lounge at 7 am, but don't return around 10 am, let's say.  That's a chair hog! Right? RIGHT!  People who toss "stuff" on 6 to 10 chaise lounges, but only  use one or two waiting for their friends to show up later, that's a chair hog! Right? RIGHT!  But, someone who "reserves" a lounge, and uses it all day, with breaks say, for lunch, a dip in the pool, or a bathroom break, you would not consider them a chair hog, even though they use the lounges all day long. CORRECT!

The chair hogs do not utilize the loungers until they are good and ready, thus depriving others of their use. Those who stay in a lounger for the entire day - their choice - are utilizing the lounger! They are not "hogging" the chair for future use. Big difference!

We have tried the various balconies on the the Solstice class ships. The humps on the slants are my favorite. We loved the extra space and didn't feel like our neighbors were watching us and vice versa. I do question why Celebrity doesn't maximize the extra balcony space with chaise lounges or the coveted foot rests.

Have you also noticed that they now classify some of the slant balconies as Concierge vs 1A??? Never did understand why there were no chaise lounges on them, what with all that space! The extra large balconies on the M-Class always had chaise lounges!

    i. e.: 6143/6144/6135/6136

Hi Beth, my apologies if I'm wrong but the balcony looks bigger than those either side on the deck plan and looks like the description others have given, however we'll find out on the 12th ! 🙂

David - There are definitely balcony cabins on the Connie that have larger balconies - they are just not considered "slant or hump" balconies. Since you don't mention your cabin number it is hard to describe the balcony for you. I do know (from experience) that there are some wonderful (larger) balconies on Deck 6 that I love! I'm sure you will enjoy, regardless of where yours is located. (The aft balcony cabins are also much coveted, with much larger balconies.)

Hi, we have been allocated one on Constellation sailing from Venice on the 12th, glad to see the positive comments, it's our first Celebrity cruise after 10 years of cruising so really looking forward to it!

"Hump" cabins or cabins on the "slant off the hump" are not on the Constellation or any M-Class ship. Not sure where your cabin might be located.

His name was Vishnu on the Seaside last September.

He is Indian and very tall. He can speak English very well but he said he cannot read it.

Im worried when I go again and if I have great service, I don't want to offend my butler, if he usually gets more.

    Thanks

Vishnu is one of the best!! Trust me.......you won't offend any butler by giving them an extra tip, whatever that amount may be!

  8. You should each register your own individual credit cards. That way, any charges will be made to the card of the person charging. Same goes for daily gratuity - will be charged to each credit card for the person registered w/that card. It works well and should not cause any problems at the end of the cruise. Enjoy the Seaside! It's a great ship with a wonderful crew.

Apparently not.  Well, as mentioned, not only did the system allow me to book a drink package for just me at $245, but for some reason it excluded my GF.

This could work out to be a good deal.

What "seems" to be a good deal may not actually be one when the GF presents her card and has to pay for the drink because she has no package. They DO check your cards.

Can you please tell me what to do to receive the notifications? Sometimes I respond to post and receive a notification that someone has answered, and sometimes I don't.  Is there something that I'm supposed to sign up for?

Go to the top of the page. You will see a box that says "Follow". Click on that, answer how you want to receive notifications, and you will see all posts when they are new. Therefore, when Lisa answers, you will see her answers. She has until the 12th! :classic_biggrin:

  11. I would suggest contacting MSC directly. Whatever answers you get here on CC are basically opinions. And, I may add, you're probably better off waiting to inquire once you are on board as the land based agents are not all that knowledgeable or easily give out bad information. Good luck and I hope it works out for you!

    please explain... "cabin sticky"

There are "cabin stickies" at the top of the main cruise board for Celebrity - You will see "S-Class Cabin Information" and M-Class Cabin Information: - those are the"stickies" being referred to!  Those forums contain info about various cabins on these two classes of ships.

According to nrk.no a person has fallen off msc Meraviglia and a rescue operation is ongoing.

This happened in norwegian between Norway and Denmark while the ship was on its way to Kiel

Can anyone tell me how a person just "falls off" a cruise ship? I'm sorry this woman did not survive, but I am wondering just what, exactly, caused her to go overboard?

Den, irons are not returned to passengers automatically.  You need to claim them.  After our last cruise, we were sitting next to a couple from the ship at the airport and started chatting about the cruise..  She suddenly realized that she didn’t get her iron.  She thought they would deliver it to the stateroom.  I told her she would have needed to pick it up but she must have walked right past that table when she left she ship, so what happened to her iron?  Did it wind up in the rubbish bin?.

And I am sure when Celebrity "confiscates" banned items at the beginning of the cruise, the passenger is TOLD they can reclaim their item when they disembark. But then, I'm sure many, many people forget all about the items until they are home. Plus, some probably don't even want to mess with having to find a place in their luggage to stow the item, so they just leave them behind.

We had to book a guarantee cabin recently for a cruise one year from now as that's all that was available in that category. We saw the assigned cabin  today, which was acceptable. Can (or does ) X change  guarantee cabins after assignment ?

They won't automatically change the assigned cabin, but if you find one in the same category that you would prefer, just call them and they will change the cabin for you. I have done it.

I know!  but i thought why start a new thread, when the title of this old thread still works.

I'm wondering about where the outdoor smoking areas are on Millenium, because I want to make sure we don't reserve a balcony near a designated outdoor smoking area.  We made that mistake once.... if i can help it, that will be the last time 🙂 lol

Unfortunately, lots of people will see the title and open the thread, without even looking at the date, and “assume” the now incorrect information  is current. That just sets off a whole new slew of posts which could easily be avoided! Just sayin’.

On the first day at sea we could not find sun beds on deck 19 my HD likes to lie in the sun coming from Scotland we don't get much sun so it is nice to see some sun.

I am amazed that your DH was unable to find available sun beds on the One Pool deck. I have sailed Seaside twice now in the YC and there were always many, many sun beds available - everywhere. Everyone in the YC must have been sunlovers on your particular cruise! :classic_ohmy:

We have friends that did MSC (not the Yacht Club) and said never again.  They said the food was AWFUL.

Since taste in food is so subjective, when someone states "the food is awful", I just take it with a grain of salt. What is good to some, may be awful to others.  ("Awful" has certainly not been my experience on 3 cruises with MSC - Divina (1) and Seaside (2).

Some things were just better than others.  Same goes for my experience with Celebrity.

  19. I sometimes wonder if anyone even sat in these chairs prior to "mass" purchasing them! That chair in the suite with the low back and large seat looked about as uncomfortable as anything I've seen! And all of these chairs with no arms? I'm sorry, but if a chair is not comfortable (and arms are a must in my mind) they can just sit there empty. And the "cube" chairs I've seen in some suites are beyond ridiculous. The bric-a brac in the staterooms are dust collectors and serve no purpose. And no grab bars or shelves in shower/tub? What were they thinking???

Going on my 3rd MSC Seaside Yacht Club cruise in November and haven't missed Celebrity one bit. I never thought I would say that after 18 cruises with them.

I am very concerned and feel that I have made a big mistake in booking an inside cabin on Seaside. We normally take 2 x 23kg each, now I am wondering if 2 flight cabin bags is too much.  I have 2 cruises booked both YIN on Seaside in 2020 and 2021. Fortunately the first cruise we have the larger inside H cabin so hoping for a mobile clothes rack will be made available.  I will be able to view a normal inside before our 2021 cruise and make a decision whether to cancel.  They are obviously not intended for adults so will need to decide if it’s acceptable or not, my wife is definitely not happy after watching a YouTube video of a similar cabin.

Not to worry! Your 4 bags will be just fine, and, they will bring in a mobile clothes rack for you since the closet is very narrow, due to the size of the bathroom. These are 2 photos of a HC YCIN cabin on the Seaside that I stayed in last April. The room is huge, as is the bathroom, and you can put suitcases under the bed. Limited storage in the bath, however, because the counter must be wheelchair accessible, and the usual storage space is gone because of this. The shower was huge - no leakage onto the bathroom floor - and a nice bench that folds down from the wall.  Here are 2 photos of 18026. Storage in the room itself is plentiful! Enjoy!

Here is the picture that I meant to include. Is this a suite cabin?

No - not a suite cabin. These aft facing cabins are all classified as Concierge (C1's) or Family Veranda (FV). They are on Decks 7, 8, and 9.

I absolutely love the aft cabins & balconies on M-Class!!! I also like that they changed the flooring on the balcony and it also looks like they went from the translucent side walls to solid. And, looks like they STILL have great furniture. Thanks for posting!
