    Frank,

Don't know why folks keep pushing MSC's Yacht Club (or Azamara or Seabourn) if as you say price is an important consideration. Suites are not in everyone's budget.

Totally understand and agree with the features of S class you enjoy. We have sailed Royal's Explorer many times and believe it could be a good substitute. As a diamond member you will enjoy free specialty coffees and drinks in the diamond lounge which is on deck 14 and has a great view. They also used to have a private diamond breakfast area in the mdr. The promenade cafe is a cut below cafe al bacio, but it's good for coffee, danish and people watching. Royal's entertainment, especially the ice show, is better than X. December 2019 pricing looks attractive.

I really wish people would stop promoting the MSC Yacht Club!! The YC suites are getting harder and harder to find! I would highly recommend staying away!😎

  2. Just got off the Seaside on Saturday. We had 10 hours in St. Maarten (8AM-6PM); 9 hours in San Juan (7AM-4PM) and 7 hours in Nassau (9AM-4PM). I would say those hours were more than generous! Itinerary hours are always indicated when booking, so if one does not like those hours, don't book the itinerary.

  3. This NEW/IMPROVED site is untenable. When I go to my old forums, they all start with Page 1. I always had it set so that the latest posts would be on the first page and I could select the # of posts per page. Neither option is available any longer. Replying to posts is much more difficult.  And some forums that I participated in just totally disappeared......what a bunch of BS.

My time on CC since this change will be extremely limited. It just is NOT user friendly at all. (I'm afraid being owned by Trip Advisor has ruined this site.)

  4. You may be able to print them all before you leave on the first leg. The 20 day statement is really not accurate. I printed my docs long before 20 days for my upcoming cruise. Once all of your information is in the system and everyone in your cabin has "checked in", you will be able to print the e-docs. I have a cruise coming up this weekend and had my e-docs at least 30-40 days before. Won't hurt to give it a try! (My experience with b2b's is that I didn't even need the boarding docs for the following cruises-not MSC, but I would think they are all pretty much the same.) If push comes to shove, you could always have them printed out on board. Good luck and enjoy your cruises!

  5. Thank you for your replies. At this point (leaving 10/24) there are no other AquaClass cabins available. We need AquaClass, because we became hooked on Blu restaurant on the Constellation! We will make the best of the situation. If anyone has been in the deck 9 mid-ship balcony cabins, I would like to hear if you smelled smoke. Thank you.

You will NOT smell smoke on your balcony. You are on the starboard side of the ship. The smoking area is Deck 10 port side. You are nowhere near any smoking area.

  6. I can appreciate your point of view but can't say I agree with it. Being a Brit, I enjoy the different mix you get on Caribbean cruises with the US based lines. We actually booked the MSC Caribbean cruise ahead of going on our recent MSC trip in Europe.

If we hadn't already booked (& the itinerary of the MSC ship hadn't been perfect for us), I'm sure my wife wouldn't have agreed that we went on MSC again so soon.

Can only hope that the MSC Davina experience is better than the MSC Magica one & that the section heads actually do their jobs and don't just strut about (full of their own importance).

I understand. I think you will enjoy the Divina. It is a lovely ship with a great staff. I highly recommend a nightly "after dinner beverage" at the La Cantina di Bacco.

  7. After reading all of your comments about your previous experience with MSC I am very surprised you booked another cruise with them. The clientele on the Caribbean cruises is still very much European. They are very well known in Europe and have many followers who also enjoy coming to the U.S. to embark on Caribbean cruises. If you are expecting a "world change" in the clientele because it is a Caribbean itinerary, I'm afraid you are going to be sorely disappointed.

Please do not expect MSC to be like Princess, Celebrity, Holland or RCCL. They are not, and probably never will be. MSC has a distinct personality that is all its own, and I for one, appreciate the change.

  8. It seems the OP is not complaining about the price - but the fact that 2 days after they booked, Celebrity offered 2 perks instead of 1-for the same price. Unfortunately, this does happen, but there is nothing that can be done about it at this point. Timing is everything.

  9. I am sailing on the SEASIDE on Oct.27th & today I received a MSC CRUISE TICKET. OK copied it signed it, now my question is do I still have to go to the MSC site fill out forms for my SET SAIL PASS?? Or does MSC concider that cruise ticket is all I need to do?? Needless to say this is my 1st MSC cruise.

When you get your eTicket you will see the embarkation form. You need to print this out and show when you check in for the cruise. There are also luggage tags included so you can print them out as well.

Not exactly sure what you mean by "cruise ticket" - we may be talking about the same thing?

Your card (SeaPass/Set Sail) will be issued when you check in as well. You must have completed all of your profile information already so you should be all set.

  10. Can only 1 person in the cabin book an internet package or does it require both to book? I'm looking at the Standard Package which is for 2 devices. Thanks for anyone with insight or experience with this.

Update: O.K. I was able to only book for one, but now I'm thinking only one device can be logged in at a time? Any help with that? Thanks!

  11. Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I am totally confused by this thread.

Perhaps it's an American thing with domestic flights, but aren't you supposed to check in your own luggage at the same time you check in? We certainly do this side of the pond, whether domestic or international. What documentation would a valet have to hand to the check-in desk? How do the baggage tags get handed to you? These would be required if your bags didn't make it to your destination.

This is intriguing to say the least.

When using Luggage Valet (if the cruise line even offers it and I don't believe MSC does) you are given your luggage airline tags to put on your luggage the night before you depart. If any baggage fees are charged by the airline, you pay those when you get the tags from Guest Relations. So, your bags are handled as if you had checked them in yourself at the airport. It's a great service (usually a $20-$25 charge for it) and you don't see your luggage until you arrive at your destination. Only available for domestic flights however.
