The canopies on the Summit, and on future M class ships, are gone, and have been (or will be) replaced by the slats.

Despite who is supposedly posting pictures from where, the picture with the white canopies is an S class ship.  Either they have not yet or will not be replacing them with the slats.

In any case, it is the slats...in several pictures above...that have replaced the white canopies on M Class, not S class ships.  And they are what people are objecting to because they make the Deck 11 AQ cabins much less private, and do not provide the shade that the solid canopies used to provide to the bar below.  They look like something we made out of popsicle sticks when we were kids.

Not sure why you continue to insist that the canopies on the M-Class ships are either gone or going away. Clearly, that is not the case. The photos are clearly from M-Class.

The people in Aqua deck 11 cabins are complaining because the "slats" allow people to look UP to their balcony whereas before, there was a canopy over the Sunset Bar.

Our cabins are also on deck 18 and this is the first I've read about sewage smells inside the yacht club..very concerned 😮

I don't know when your cruise is but knowing how the YC operates, I am sure they are doing their utmost to correct any sewage odors. I have been on both deck 16 and deck 18 and never experienced any odors, but that's not to say that something hasn't gone "amiss"! Hopefully, by the time you cruise, all will be rectified. Being in the YC is a wonderful experience. Enjoy!

I just wanted to point out that the chart posted by OP is no longer correct for Yacht Club bookings.

If one booked prior to Dec. 16, 2018 the 90 days is still good, as opposed to the new 120 days.

  4. They will walk you off the ship, show your passport to customs, and turn around and walk back on the ship. It really is very simple. You will be given a time and meeting place for the "turn-around" day. Enjoy!

If you wish to grab a cab and go sightseeing, you are more than welcome to do that as well. There is nothing at the port other than lots of other ships and traffic! :classic_ohmy:

Just booked this directly with MSC.  They said that the sailing really does have just one stateroom left to reserve.  I'll keep on checking closer to sailing as it is the last stateroom and I would prefer something a bit closer to the center.  I wanted to take advantage of the buy one get one sale as well as the 10% online special MSC is currently offering.

Looking at an online website for the Seaside, there are at least 10 YC1 suites available for every 7 night sailing during the month of January, 2021. Not sure what weeks you were looking for, but there are suites available on both Decks 16 and 18.

Now, if you look for 14 night sailings, only shows 2 YC1 suites available for each (1/9 & 1/16 and 1/23 & 1/30). I guess they are only showing the cabins that would be available for both weeks, assuming you did not want to change cabins.

The next sailing 3/3/19 stills shows 120 open staterooms...….that's a lot of empty rooms for a brand new ship..... about 1/4 are suites, which is NOT the norm for Celebrity at all.

And when a brand new ship hits the "Exciting Deals" board within 3 months of inauguration, you know something is not working.

Only concern I would have is that smoking is on deck 5 port side and that is where you are located and could come right up to your location.

They will not be affected by the smoking area on deck 5 - 2 decks below them and towards the aft of their room!

MSC YC sounds great. We have been loyal to X with 26 cruises and two more booked. We have also enjoyed  trying all of the luxury lines. The price of Suites on X has us looking at other options.

I looked at a video of MSC and noticed ashtrays for smokers in several areas, and in the YC. Looks like the smoke would drift upstairs to the private dining room that has a open stairway. Can someone comment on that ?

Since you don't mention what MSC ship was featured in the video, I can only tell you that there is absolutely no smoking inside any YC areas on either the Seaside or Divina. Any smoking areas are outside and no where near the dining room. There are 2 sets of doors to get out to the smoking area on the Seaside (outside the Top Sail Lounge), and they are on the starboard side. The only other smoking area is on the starboard side of the One Pool Deck - around the corner from the bar.

MSC YC is wonderful! If you choose to book I think you will be pleasantly surprised. The butlers and all the staff in the YC are outstanding.

Imagine, the OP has not interrupted their vacation to measure the inside of the safe.  They probably ordered a tape measure and are waiting for guest services to deliver it.:classic_laugh:

Merly - the OP - stated in post #87 that:  "I pads will not fit in the safe."

You absolutely should give it a try.

We sailed in YC on Seaside last month and loved it.  Worth every penny.

Also worth noting, in all of your cruises, if you've ever done an interior, that's also an option in the YC.   I haven't, but having sailed in the YC, I would definitely consider it now.  There are so many nice outdoor spaces available to you that are never crowded.  I would choose an interior in YC over a balcony in any other area of the ship.

Great suggestion, but the OP is looking at a Divina itinerary and they do not have YC interiors on Divina. Excellent option if sailing on Seaside though.

Sounds good.  Also, NCL the butler and concierge are not part of the DSC and it is expected they will be tipped separately. How does MSC do that?  And what is the MSC DSC in the YC?

The daily service charge in the Yacht Club is an extremely reasonable $12.50/day!

We sail in the Haven and our first Seaside YC cruise was last year. Our next one is in two weeks. We tip in YC. Last year, I tipped the bartenders in the pool area and inside the YC on the first day and again the last. Last night, I tipped our servers, concierge, butler (loved him) little extra for room attendant and matre d. The person we tipped every day was Onil. He was the pool attendant. He doted on us every day when we were in a cabana or not and he was one of our vacation heros!

I have our tips set for our sailing in two weeks and cannot wait to sail in the YC again.

Totally, totally agree about Onil!!!! First time in my life I have given a pool attendant a large tip. He was so wonderful.

He is now on the new MSC Bellissima - part of the "shakedown" crew getting the ship ready for its first voyage. He will be in the YC as a pool attendant once again. They are so lucky to have him.
