  1. Because I don't want to start another bidding thread, I'll just ask the question here:

I am currently in a 2BR suite on the Escape in September and received "the" email for the OS and DOS. I checked on NCL.com to see which OS and DOS were still available....and both show as sold out! Why would I be able to bid on suites that aren't even available?! The DOS has been showing as sold out for about 2 months and the OS has only shown sold out recently. Does NCL put a couple aside for bidding?! I did do a low-ball bid for the DOS to see if it allowed me to....and it did!

  2. I'm also interested! My next sailing will be in the Haven....but the prices are climbing so quickly, it will most likely be our last suite. I'd like to continue with NCL because I'm so close to Platinum-Plus....but every time I attempt to book a balcony - I end up changing it to a suite. I've recently begun liking at other lines as I think it may be easer to sail in a balcony.....because I know there won't be a Haven to miss!

  3. Thanks NayRN - we were on a cruise with you in the Haven (Jewel or Jade, maybe?). My granddaughter Phoebe played with your two lovely grandnieces, and that friendship made the trip for her. It must be 5 or 6 years ago. I'm going on the Sky with my younger daughter (you may remember she fell out of a top deck hammock, and they took all the hammocks down after that - she does seem to make a "splash" wherever she goes) in November and we're hoping we can still get to Havana.

Yes! I remember well! It was the Gem out of NYC in 2013!

The Sky, albeit small, is my favorite ship! The crew is amazing and the OS....fantastic! My brother also said the Murphy bed in the living room gave him the best 4 nights of sleep! Havana is also on my bucket list....and I'll be looking at the for next Fall. According to everything I've been reading, cruise ships will have no problem visiting Cuba!

  4. Does the window between the bedroom and living room have a shutter or curtain to close? OP had said it was hard keeping light away from the kids in the living room - hoping there's something to close the bedroom off. Thanks for any info!

There are shutters between the bedroom and the living room. My brother said the little light coming thru didn't bother him....but those darn things sure didn't help keep his snoring out!! ;p

  5. Like other Loyal Royal cruisers, your review is intriguing me. Am currently on NCL's website and ... it works. I can actually see itineraries and price a cruise!!

For those NCL cruisers, you simply don't know how difficult that can be...

That's funny...I tried to book a RCL cruise online and it was such a pain in the bum.....I booked the Escape for September?!!

  6. Thanks for the FLL to Miami info for Uber! We will be using it for the first time in September. We fly Delta and the flight into FLL is a little over $500 cheaper for us than flying into MIA! We are at the InterContinental so the Uber fare should be a little less!

  7. With the Sky having the unlimited cruise drink package. Will we be able to ask the butler to keep beer & soda in the suite for us. Thanks

The OS comes with cans of pop in the fridge...just let him know what ones are your favorite.

As far as beer....they won't keep it stocked in the fridge unless that has changed since my 8/2016 cruise. I did ask my butler if that was possible.....he smiled and said a polite "no".

But.....don't forget! The OS comes with 3L of alcohol that you select from a list after you board. Maybe ask if they can substitute beer for the liters of alcohol!!!

  8. Have you ever been to Glacier Bay? In my experience for Glacier Bay, cruise ships DO open the bow to passengers. It is an exception to the no passengers rule.

I've been to Glacier Bay twice....once on the Star and once on the Sun. While I may just have missed seeing passengers up there on the Star, on the Sun we were in a forward facing PH....and on our balcony the entire time.....no passengers to be seen.

  9. I've sailed twice on the Getaway in a deck 9 aft PH. While I loved the balcony, the second bathroom was extra small....but not so small that I wasn't able to use it daily (I'm not a small person either). What I didn't like was the walk...about 4 minutes....to and from the Haven. I know 4 minutes isn't long, but when you forget something in your cabin or want to change from dinner clothing to a swimsuit....and adding in elevator waiting time, it just became a nuisance.

    This cruise, I'll be in a 2 BR, deck 17!! Easy-Peasy!
