That makes sense that they might need to move to a temporary terminal until the new one is completed.  I   just wanted to point out that the new terminal is not at the same site as the prior terminal.

Wish I had taken a picture of the new terminal as we sailed away.  I do recall someone had posted a picture of the new terminal under construction right about that time or after we returned from that cruise.  It looks like it will really be impressive, especially compared to the old B & C terminal.

LOL! I wish you had a picture, too! I’ll be sailing out of Miami in September - I’ll make sure I get one! Then I’ll just need a tutorial on how to post it! 😜

We were still using B & C terminals when we went on our May cruise.   The new terminal is being built near to the B & C terminals but not on top of the same ground.  They had quite a bit of framing up for the new terminal when we were using the old one.

When I called NCL due to no terminal listed, I was told that the old terminal was gone and we would be boarding at F and G. Now, could they have been wrong? Absolutely! But when I’ve been watching the Breakaway and other NCL ships via the Port of Miami webcam, they’ve all been down at F and G.

I called the cruise line and was told there was a lot of construction going on in terminals B&C,  passengers were to use Terminal F and G.

Thank you to everyone who helped.

Absolutely correct! The usual terminals, B and C have been torn down and the new NCL terminal is currently being built in it place. When looking at the Port of Miami webcam, the Breakaway has been sailing out of F and G. Id post a picture from the webcam, but I’m not computer savvy!!

  4. Was on the Getaway in April of this year with a 10 and 12 year old and I’m surprised they didn’t turn into Shirley Temples! Waiters even brought them one each for breakfast as a joke by the second morning.....and with extra cherries! No extra charge!!!

  5. I kinda in the same boat...I’m sailing solo and when I try to make reservations for 1, I’m only given the time of 5:30. If I enter 2 for the same restaurant on the same night, multiple times are available. Should I make a reservation for 2 and cancel one when I board or just email the pre-cruise concierge??

  6. Love the Dawn! I’ve only sailed once on her in an OS...10006. That suite is huge and I really enjoyed both the forward and side balconies.

So sorry you had the problem you did...but it sounds to me like you have a really positive attitude...the glass is neither half-full or half-empty, it’s always refillable! 🍻

  7. I was in Bermuda with a 10 and 12 year old last April. I was stopped while trying to re-enter the port and was asked for picture ID for the kids. I handed them their key cards and the “guard” rudely handed them back and said “they have to hand them to me”. So they did....he still insisted on having a picture ID. People behind us on line were saying that they were kids and didn’t require a picture ID. Guy was kind of a jerk....so I dug to the bottom of my backpack and found their NEXUS cards and he let us thru. Thankfully I never travel without their cards....but that was some kind of BS going on there. Pretty much turned me off from ever returning to Bermuda.

  8. I’ve stayed at the Doubletree and the InterContinental....with that being said, I prefer the IC because of its walk-ability to numerous restaurants and stores. If you get a Bayview room, it’s just as good as the balcony at the Doubletree. When I did stay at the Doubletree, all the balcony seats were  old and covered with bird droppings - not a big deal but.....

  9. I’ve had my eDocs printed since the day after final payment and my cruise is still 9 weeks from today. There may be a glitch in the system which happens quite frequently on the NCL site!

Edit: just read a few threads into the second page that there is definitely an issue with the NCL site within the past couple hours.

  10. For those who have sailed recently, what terminal did you sail from? Looking through the webcam, it looks like Terminal F. My cruise docs do not list a terminal and I know the NCL terminal won’t be completed when I sail in September. Is the Haven Lounge/check in as easy to locate as the old NCL terminal? TIA

They do store your bags for you at a central point next to the main departure area for the hoho bus tours. You have to make sure you get back there in time to collect your bags and get on one of the shuttles they run to the airport. There are fixed times for the shuttles (Last year, for our cruise, they were offering 1pm, 3pm and 5pm. It might not be the same for your cruise.). So you need to take that into account bearing in mind your flight time.

I personally prefer the tours to places like the Everglades where your luggage actually stays on the bus with you the whole time and they take you (and your luggage) straight to the airport at the end of the tour.

Obviously, though, it depends on what you like to do or may already have done. Maybe you don't want to go to the Everglades for the nth time!

I’ve been to the Everglades a few times, but you do make a very valid point! With the HOHO, I have to worry about collecting my luggage and making the 1pm shuttle. I was leaning toward a “tour by locals” thing but all the prices are for 3 or 6 people which would make them affordable-I’m sailing solo which makes the prices outrageous!!!

I’m not planning on doing any excursions on the islands and having the $50/port credit toward excursions, it makes the Everglades to MIA tour super cheap!!

  12. I’m curious about the post-cruise excursions as well. My flight doesn’t leave until 3:55 and I wanted to kill some time “cheaply” before my flight. While the HOHO is great, what happens to our luggage if we happen to get off the bus for lunch? I certainly don’t want to drag it around with me.🤷🏻‍♀️

I considered booking a “day room” but the locations of the hotels that participate in the program are not in really good areas to walk around in for lunch....or are way too expensive.

I still have 10 weeks to figure this out....and I hate waiting until the last minute for planning!

  13. I’m sailing soon for the third time in an aft PH on the Away class. The first two times I had great Butler service (or just great Butlers)! I’m hopeful my next sailing will result in the same outcome. With that being said, I had a horrible Butler on the Getaway in a 2BR suite in the courtyard! Only saw him the second day and our afternoon treats were not always delivered (which we were OK with because they send too much).

    • Thanks 1
  14. Does anyone have any experience with day rooms in Miami? I just booked the Hilton Blue Lagoon - but noticed there is absolutely nothing within walking distance for food which means I’m stuck paying hotel lunch prices.

I noticed that the Miami International Hotel also books day rooms and I’m curious if there’s direct access to the airport (like in Detroit) for restaurants.

I only have from disembarkation until 2:00 pm to kill....and I’m not really wanting to do another bus tour.

    TIA!
