  1. One success story doesn't negate the ridiculous problem mentioned in another post

Nor does the original post mean that it happens every time. That's the first time I've ever heard about it happening and I've been on here for a long time.

I see where they OP has decided to not even try to pre-pay them now. I sure would like to see the OP from that other posting get back with their results.

  2. What about bottled water? I read the policy that states a maximum of 12 sealed, unopened bottles per person only in their carry-on luggage, but I have also seen posts in which people took a case of bottled water as checked "luggage". Anyone have experience with this?

Two people traveling together are each allowed 12 so that makes the case. It does happen where they check it in but for the most part, they carry it on.

  3. Is this referencing the embarkation photo or the photo for the S&S card? I usually skip the embarkation photo (and most other photo ops) as we never buy photos on board.

We encountered it for the first time on our last cruise on the Freedom. Instead of the embarkation photo, we stood in front of a green screen for our photo. When we went looking at our photos later in the cruise, we found where they had taken our pictures from the green screen and put them in a photo with us looking out a porthole frame. Needless to say, they weren't worth buying.

As for the casino, DW put $100 into a slot machine, then went to put her card in it. There was already a card in the slot so she pulled it out and I took it to a waiter who put it on top of a machine.

She went to play and found that no money was in the machine. We called for an attendant and explained what had happened. He said the money went to the card that was in it originally. Within minutes, they got the card and came up with a printed picture of the guy. They went around until the found him and somehow or another got the money off his card and put it on DW's. So I know they use them in the casino.

  4. Log in to the Carnival site. Click on Manage your cruise and log in again. When your cruise pops up, click on your booking number. It will list the people in your cabin and when you scroll down, it will have your itemized charges. At the bottom right there is a blue oblong box with rounded corners that says "Make a Payment". Click on that and you should be good to go.

  5. That's it. I'm bringing a set of Allen wrenches on my next cruise. Pretty sure they're not on the prohibited items list.

If that is what it is, make sure your Allen wrenches are the tamper proof kind. The screws have that little pin in the center of the head. The wrenches also have a hole in the end to accomodate the pin. That way a regular Allen wrench won't fit in them.

  6. For our Victory cruise in 2001, I found a picture of the Victory and put it on "WORD". Under it I put the dates of our cruise. Under that I listed all of the names of our family members in black. Then I changed the color to red for each individual and printed them off on T-Shirt transfers. Then I sent them to each couple and had them iron them on white t-shirts.

Caution...make sure if you do this that you reverse the image before printing them.

  7. Won't even come close. We have 43 under our belt with Carnival, five were seven days and one was eight. Had we taken ten three day cruises, we would be there. Does it matter to us? Not at all. We cruise for the experience, not the free-bees that we can buy ourselves if we really want them.

  8. There was a posting a few weeks back that I can't find now telling about the price increases. In their defense though, ( and not being a cheerleader) how can Carnival warn future cruisers that they are going to increase the price of the M&Gs? They have no idea of who may be planning one ahead of time until they actually call and arrange it. They don't tell you to hurry up and book a cruise because they are going to raise the rates. No business does that.

Personally I would rather see them increase the prices gradually instead of waiting for a few years then double the prices. And by what I've read here, you now get less for twice as much money.

I think they messed up big time with this one. I think more M&Gs will just be cash bars from now on. This way the soda drinkers can still join in on the party and the alcohol drinkers won't be pounding them down just to get their money back.

  9. If you look real close at the center of that "thing", it looks like an allen wrench fits in it. On one of our cruises a Maintenance guy came in for a reason that I don't remember and had to get up into the ceiling. There was a thing similar to that on our cabin ceiling. He put an allen wrench in it and it unlocked the ceiling panel. Then it swung down and he worked on whatever was up in there. Maybe that's what that was.

  10. The worst part would be that there are only two twin beds in any cabin. If it held at least four people, two would be the beds that hang from the ceiling. I don't think from looking at the pictures of them that they would be that comfortable for adults. I think that there is even a weight restriction on them. I'm six feet tall and weigh 200 and I would never attempt to sleep on one of them.

  11. Can you use the card anywhere on the ship. I don't drink alcohol and usually have a soft drink at dinner, could you use the card there?

Our sons had them and after the second night in the MDR, their sodas were waiting for them when we got there. One night they decided not to go to dinner and when we got there, the sodas were already there. We told the waiter they weren't coming and he said not to worry, just drink them.

  12. No, that comes with the new FTTF. Faster To The Food. Automatically go to the front of the line in the main dining room or any buffet line on the Lido deck.

Just an inexpensive, $100 surcharge/pp. Only 500 sold each cruise.

Please add a "Just joking" or something to that effect when you post something like this. Even a smiley face icon. There are a lot of new people on these boards that will take what you said as the truth.

  13. You do if you go to a family style restaurant, which there are plenty of in certain parts of the country. I started cruising knowing we would be seated with strangers. I seem to mind it more now than then. I guess it helps if you have friendly people also at your table. A couple of times we didn't. Then again, they could have said the same thing about me. :p

We don't eat at places like that. We normally cruise with extended family except for one time. We were placed at a ten top with two elderly sisters and one really elderly scruffy looking guy that paid for three very young (looked like teenagers) girls.

The first night the guy and girls showed up. Before the main course was brought out, one of the girls got up and left. The next night none of the girls showed up but the guy did. He complained all through the meal that he had paid for the girls to be his companion and they were ignoring him. The next night he didn't show but two of the girls did. They complained about how creepy he was. We never saw the girl that left the first night again.

The whole thing was creepy and we actually got to the point where we dreaded going to the MDR for dinner.

  14. Do whichever you think is easier but cabin steward will move it for your son. We have always switched cabins and by the time we have gone down to meet, get our new cards and back to the new room, our luggage is already there. No biggie at all. Once the room wasn't finished but the steward said it would be done in 5 minutes.

I have no idea why your son would want to take it the night before to your cabin. So a little confused on the night before thing.

Either the night before or early the next day before he has to leave his first cabin. He is not an early riser so I just thought it would be easier to have it in our cabin the night before.

  15. I'm planning on collecting a little sand from the beaches we travel to and then put them in clear ornaments...with some little shells if I can find them also. I then plan to write the beach name and date of visit on the ornament.

DW has been collecting little glass bottles of sand from each port we visit. They have the name of the island painted on the outside and usualy have tiny shells inside of them. She has them on a shelf in the family room but you could very easily tie a string on them with a hook and hang them on your tree. They are only about three inches high. Almost every port has them.
