  1. I don't pack valuables in my checked bag. I carry those on and off in my small bag. My checked bag also gets checked at the airport, on the ship and spends time out of my sight. Why would I worry about it being in the hallway?

I always feel guilty when they ask at the airport check-in if your luggage has been out of your sight since packing it. I tell them no but actually it was out of my sight for quite a while.

  2. In February we are going on Norwegian Jewel (from New Orleans) & getting then boarding Carnival Sunshine. Does anyone know if these ships will be close to each other? This will be our 3rd b2b but we stayed on the same ship those times.

    Thank you!!

They should be real close. The port of NOLA is not that big.

  3. ROFL!!! I'll bet you're a riot at parties! :D

By your standards, the lady with the platinum bennies should not have allowed her mother (who was on first cruise) into their shared cabin before 1:30. LOL

Oh my, thanks for the morning laugh! :p

If you have been reading the postings since the beginning of FTTF, a lot of the Platinum/Diamond passengers were complaining that what they had worked so hard to earn was now being given to just anybody for a $50 charge. Then this poster comes along and states that their Platinum friend was giving them one of their benefits for free.

I never said anything about any lady and her mother. If they were both in the same cabin, then her Mother was allowed to enter before 1:30. Now if she was in a cabin four doors down like the poster that I was referring to, then no.

To say the FTTF program is not worth it because you don't need any of it is one thing. To say it isn't worth it because you cheat the system is another.

  4. Yes it does. You have to look at it though that not everybody has Platinum friends staying four doors down. And I won't even go there...

Umm, go where?? Am I missing something??

Since you asked, yes. Platinum/Diamond benefits are for those that have earned them, not their friends. The signs on the doors say something like Cabins are off limits until 1:30 unless you are Platinum/Diamond or have purchased FTTF. It does not say "Or friends of the above".

  5. No, we were not able to get into our cabin but had Platinum friends staying 4 cabins down so we dropped our carry-on there.

Does that help to answer your questions? ;)

Look, I'm not knocking the FTTF program, for some it must be worth it. For me, not so much. :)

  6. Do remember that some Amtrak trains use freight tracks. The freight trains have priority over the passenger trains.

We took a train from Flint, MI to Toronto. Less than three miles out of the station we stopped "dead in our tracks". They were working on the tracks a few miles ahead and we sat there for over four hours. When we finally took off, we stopped at every whistle stop town between Michigan and Toronto.

I definately would not try to take a train the day of the cruise.

  7. We arrived at the port around 10:30 am and we were onboard at the atrium bar ordering our first drink at 11:25 am. Platinum friends beat us onboard by about 15 minutes. NOT worth the extra $50 IMO. ;)

Did you get to go to your cabin as soon as you boarded? Was your luggage delivered shortly after you boarded? Did you go to the front of the line to board a tender? Did you have a special phone number for Guest Services along with a special line at Guest Services? Did you get priority disembarkation if you wanted it? There are so many other things included in FTTF besides getting on the ship before the masses. Everybody seems to be hung up on just that one asset of FTTF.

  8. I guess I dont get the reason to buy Faster to the Fun is to get off the cruise early? I enjoy the cruise, and do not want to rush to get off the ship... I like to eat breakfast on the ship and have my vacation last as long as possible, not sure I would ever think of paying 50.00 to end my vacation early.. I do understand people with small children or that have some health issues wanting to get to their cabin early, but to buy it to end my vacation early does would not be my choice

Read post #13. That's a prime example of why some people want off early.

  9. Not sure too many guys would admit to watching a show like that:eek:.

I don't drop what I'm doing to watch it but if DW is watching it and there's something interesting on it, I'll watch it. It's no different than watching Letterman or Leno other than the hosts are women. They have a lot of interesting guests on it.

  10. Its a waste of money $50. We boarded 5 min after fttc and waited 30 min for our cabin to be ready, not worth $50. You can spend that money in other areas.

Boarding usually starts between 11 and 12. The cabins normally aren't ready until 1:30. Was boarding delayed until 1? If so, you should have added that to your posting. Out of six Carnival cruises, the only time we got access to our cabin before 1:30 was when we had FTTF.

Really should be waste of money club!

There are more benefits to the FTTF than boarding early. The majority of the people that have used it think highly of it, us included. Yes, it's a money maker for Carnival. That's why they have it and why they are in business. Bingo is also a waste of money but there sure are a lot of people that spend their money on it during a cruise.

Of all the postings since it's inception, I can only recall one person that wasn't happy with it. That person was on a B2B and only bought it for the first week thinking it would be for both weeks. They didn't complain about the first week, only that they thought you only had to buy it once for a B2b.

  11. Don't expect anything. Then if you do get something, it will be a big surprise. There is another posting on here with several different phone numbers that you can call to find out. The one I have is 1-866-672-2582 Ext 70367.

Some have posted that they have cut way back on what they give you now. Others have said it's hit and miss.
  12. Ignore the email and save $50 on the over rated fttf.

I agree with ignore the e-mail. Let me put it this way about FTTF - You've paid to board the ship. Did you pay to stand in line in an uncomfortable warehouse setting or get on the ship? Do you like dragging around your carry-on until your cabin is ready? Do you like standing in line with hundreds of other people waiting to get on a tender to go ashore? There are more good things about FTTF than bad. If you've ever had it, you'll always want it in the future. We thought it was the best $49.95 we ever spent.
