  1. We did this cruise last year on Edge. We had a great time. We ended up staying on the ship while in the canal.

We were going to do the Panama Canal Locks and Culebra Cut Cruise however after reading many reviews which said it is good for what it is, but there can be hour long delays and having to wait on the bus, we decided against it

  2. We did this on the Edge for December 2022 - We were going to do an excursion but ended up just staying on board. From what we heard from others (and was what I read in my research) some of the tours were fine - but some had a long return back to the ship due to traffic.

We were very happy just staying on board.

Thanks for the reply - If I see the CC charge - then I'll know I got it, but what I am still trying to find out, is if they would process the payment before I get the other notifications or does it all happen at once.

As we all know Celebrity has various IT / reporting issues and this is via a 3rd party which adds to the whole who/what/when/where

I really don't think I got it, but at the same time it would be nice to know either way

  4. Generally speaking I know how the MoveUp process works - I've read the numerous threads on this. What I didn't see / what I'm looking for feedback on is - more so did you see the credit card charge / cabin change before the email notification....

My cruise leaves on Thursday - I put in a Bid to upgrade from a Sky Suite to a Penthouse Suite as there was one which became available.

It was still showing as available until yesterday (Monday) around mid-day - and as of 4pm yesterday (72hrs prior to departure) the modify / cancel has been removed.

My bid is currently showing as pending - when I check the Celebrity app / website my cabin hasn't changed and I haven't been charged yet, nor have I received an email.

I'm just wondering if I have to wait until 4pm today to get any notification, If I'll get the notification before the charge (if I got it) or it's just a waiting game??

I believe there are those that have gotten accepted / upgraded before the 48 hrs so I am hoping you can provide some feedback.

I only put in the minimum bid so I'm guessing my chances are low, but there is also the thought of domino effect that if I get upgraded, that opens my sky suite - which could trigger 2 or 3 or more other upgrades.

If it makes you feel any better I put in a bid for an upgraded on my current sky suite to a penthouse suite as there was one that opened up (leaving on Thursday) - and at 70k for the cabin to book as a new booking - I figured it would not "sell" as a last minute booking. The cabin was still available this morning and now it's not - but if someone had started the checkout to play with it, I may have put a hold on it.

I'm coming up on the 72hr mark so we will see what happens

This is typically NOT set by Celebrity specifically but rather their tour provider / insurance company.

While I agree with your that there are who are outside the age bracket who are more than capable of participating, there are those inside the age bracket who really shouldn't.

That all said you may have to do these things on your own / direct with the tour company

You mentioned this is a free cruise - so it sounds like you are looking for insurance in the event that you have medical issues during the trip vs needing to cancel - I would just call Celebrity and they should be able to add it

  8. Before getting on the phone with Royal - I figured I'd ask here.

We are doing a group cruise in 2024 - We aren't sure when spring break is for my wife's school district yet. (Different District than our son)

Would it be better to book the cabin for the 3 of us and then remove her if she can't join - I assume her deposit would just go towards the room

Or is it better to book for just my son and I and add my wife when we find out about when her break is??

    Equinox 9 Night November 3rd

    1 Person Room 8153 $2538 - $100 - $1394 = $1044/pp
    2 People Room 8153 - ($2538x2) - $200 - $2804 = $2072 = $1036/pp

    3 People  Room 8153 - ($2538x2) + $2031 - $200 - $2804 = $4103 = $1368/pp

I just did these 3 on the Celebrity website - and the pricing is what I'd be expecting - I'm not sure what you're missing / expecting - depending on the sale  / time of year sometimes the 1st and 2nd guest are full price and the 3rd guest is 50% but then they don't always a discount that is just the standard rate.

Perhaps you can explain what you are expecting - but everything looks normal / what the current specials are

  10. @weacat

Are you looking at the price before the discount??? Can you show the price??
I just did mock booking on the Apex 11/26 ->12/03
    Guest 1 & 2 ($1751 each) Guest 3 ($1195) = $4697 - $2014 (2nd person discount) = $2683
    $2683/3 = $895/pp

    Guest 1 & 2 ($1728 each) = $3456 - $1997 (2nd person discount) = $1459 /2 = $730/pp

And that doesn't factor in the addition $200 savings

So something doesn't make sense  if you are comparing apples to apples in the same cabin

  11. @FreestyleNovice

Yes that is a correct statement.

Celebrity is considered an Apple Reseller and with the shutdown much of their inventory dates back to 2019/2020. They do not carry a lot of inventory to start with - and typically the pricing is about the same as buying on land sans the tax.

In reading through the threads often times the only reason folks are purchasing the apple products (vs accessories) is due to extra OBC - not because they are getting a great deal or they specifically were planning on getting on board the ship
