Today was our second day in Lautoka, Fiji. We did an excursion called Viseisei Village & Garden of the Sleeping Giant. First stop was Vuda Look Out..... Next stop was the Viseisei Village tour. The Chief's house..... Then we went to the Garden of the Sleeping Giant. The Sleeping Giant is part of the mountain range that towers over the garden. There are 30 to 40 varieties of Asian Orchids and Cattleya. It was once the private collection of the late actor Raymond Burr. Lipstick Palm... We sailed away from Lautoka shortly before 1:00 pm. We are now en route to Bay of Islands. Tomorrow is a sea day.

Today we are in Lautoka, Fiji. We will overnight here. I dared to accompany Myster for the Sabeto Village Cultural Experience excursion. We really enjoyed it. First the sail in to Lautoka..... Then the welcoming ceremony..... The chief's house..... The church....(Methodist)

Unfortunately I had to sit out another port. Myster headed out solo on the Nukubalavu Village & Kava Ceremony. He really enjoyed the tour despite the heat. Some photos from the Greeting Ceremony..... Tomorrow is Lautoka, Fiji. The end of this segment and the start of the next. Safe travels to all those disembarking!

Here is the photo from last night's special request dinner....sapasui..... And here is a very interesting cloud formation last evening..... And there is now a fly in the ointment. It seems I have developed a bacterial throat infection. Currently on antibiotics. Myster will be going off solo for the excursion in Apia.

It did feel like a bit of a letdown. Of course, that dish could well have been planned before I submitted my request. 😁

Shadow is now at dock. The meal in suite was delicious. It was beef and not chicken. I'm fairly sure it was exactly what was on offer in the Restaurant tonight. What a coincidence! 😅 A photo will follow tomorrow.

Yes Lola, you are correct! Once she moves we can take her place. However, the Silver Shadow was supposed to be cleared at anchor this morning and that didn't happen. Hence the frustration of the Captain.

About 5 days ago I gave our awesome butler a photo and a recipe for our special request dinner for this segment. It is Sapasui with chicken...a Samoan chop suey. It is being served in our suite at 6:00 pm. Interestingly, Sapa Sui is available tonight in the Restaurant. That version is beef. We'll see which we get. 😁

Captain just announced an update. It seems that the Authorities are reluctant to clear the ship while at anchor. The ship will begin repositioning to the pier beginning at 5:00 pm. It is currently 3:58 pm here. Then the Authorities will board to clear the ship. Captain was very apologetic and a little frustrated. We'll see how this goes.

Yesterday Myster and I went to a Lunch and Learn with Chef & Culinary Trainer David Bilsland. Seared Scallops.... Lamb Three Ways..... Beautiful lunch and lovely wine pairings!

If only that was the case! It is now about 1:20 pm and it seems the Health Inspectors are still not aboard. Myster canceled his excursion for today. We just got an update from Moss Hill. Apparently the Quarantine Officer for Samoa has not yet decided to allow representatives from the other inspection departments to come to the ship which is at anchor.

Last night we enjoyed the American Diner event on the pool deck. The deck was decorated with a diner sign, pictures of milkshakes, pictures of 45s (records) and a diner backdrop for photos. Here are some photos..... Menu..... Appetizers from the On The Table in the menu above..... New Yorker Hot Dog..... Key Lime Pie..... There was music from the 50's and 60's.
