  1. In my current experience with my Eclipse group fare booking that is not the case and my booking is confirmed as eligible.
  2. Many of the larger more recognized groups and organizations will typically publish upcoming cruises for there membership's awareness. As @1025cruise suggests if you google the various groups you may be curious about, or google your ship and sailing date, relevant information may appear.
  3. I believe it is a requirement to alert other vessels of a ships' intent to commence movement in departure from the port.
  4. Easy one to make - it certainly tastes 100% artificial. LOL
  5. Glad to hear she is doing better and sorry for your loss! LOL
  6. If you win that much you could buy your own crewed mega yacht and live on it!
  7. Just to clarify, and as others have indicated, if you have booked with a refundable deposit fare you can modify, change, or cancel that booking anytime prior to final payment without penalty. If you have booked with a non-refundable deposit fare, prior to final payment you can change the reservation for a fee (typically $100 pp). But if you cancel the reservation you lose 100% of your deposit.
  8. No great loss IMO. They are removing them for a reason.
  9. In our experience, most recently Oasis NYE, the dining packages are held with a day 1 one or 2 placeholder reservation when purchased to then be booked on board. After we board, we typically go to any of the specialty restaurants (often the one with the placeholder) to talk with the maître d who then schedules the full week on our behalf. As mentioned, individual specialty restaurant reservations can be booked through the planner in advance. It has been that way every time we have booked a package (which typically is every cruise) and, as indicated at least up to this past NYE, has not changed.
  10. Who knows where your wife contracted her symptoms. Could have been at a port of call, the airport, on an airplane. Anywhere, including the ship. Glad you enjoyed your cruise and hope she feels better soon.
  11. Funny - so are we on our 6/23 sailing. Also a very good location IMO.
  12. Enjoy your cruise! One of our favorites.
  13. Very encouraging. Hope they don't run into too many setbacks.
  14. Works the same as with RCCL.
  15. I read it twice to be sure. To Bermuda in July? If so, I think you will like the S-class ships. We've sailed on Summit a lot and like her, but she is starting to show her age a bit IMO. Some different dining and drinking options on S-class.
  16. Got it - we ended up saying the same thing regarding S-Class. LOL. I happen to be on Eclipse this June for a Bermuda sailing and just checked my MoveUp eligibility, and both the standard and concierge sunset veranda are listed as their own bid category. So I guess as they are their own categories, when available they can be specified.
  17. No problem. I refernced the bidding directly from the OP's first post as their comment: "We were thinking about bidding on a concierge or standard sunset balcony". I took that to mean by way of Celebrity MoveUp. Neither I nor they ever mentioned anything about Solstice class. However, the OP does reference this thread with regards to a Bermuda cruise. Coincidentally, Celebrity originates Bermuda cruises on Eclipse out of Cape Liberty NJ. So it would be a Solstice class ship, on which both standard and concierge class sunset balconies exist.
  18. I'm certain I am in the minority, but you can add me to the list of outliers who will not use AT&T. As mentioned on another similar thread we used to use AT&T while at sea for a number of years with good success. They are also our cell phone carrier. But in recent years something changed and they were a complete nightmare with incorrect charges and poor functionality. Their customer service while on board to correct these issues was essentially useless with often conflicting settings suggestions and we gave them up a few years ago. We have since used the ship's wifi plan with wifi calling with great success and no issues. Again, just our experience and yours may vary, but IMO never again.
  19. Thank you for your response. You are correct regarding no points for the bid upgrade, which, in a subsequent response, I also corrected. I commented on that originally as it is the norm for originally booked concierge class staterooms but realize I should not have, as it implied incorrectly it would be included with a bid upgrade. And just to clarify, per the OP's thread question, they stated that they are considering bidding on either a concierge or standard sunset balcony. To me, this would be a specific location in consideration to which they would be moving.
  20. ....it's a roll of the dice - lol. But the view is always nice at sea.
  21. ....unless you are facing stern to the Great Sound with a very nice view of the island and the lighthouse in the distance, which was our experience on one of our aft facing staterooms. Fortunately Celebrity docks on the Sound-side of the Dockyard pier, so the odds of that view are 50/50. The other odds would face an NCL ship, as you indicate - LOL.
  22. That is correct the points remain as the stateroom you originally booked. And I was incorrect in including that when you mentioned bidding up to get it as it implied it would be with the bid.
  23. And so it is! Good catch and thank you. This should be the correct link! Eerily similar: https://www.local10.com/news/local/2024/04/04/coast-guard-crews-searching-for-man-who-fell-from-cruise-ship/

  25. Worth it is a personal choice. But IMO, no, there are not any bad sunset balcony staterooms and they are in fact one of our favorite choices. We like them for the view, and in particular with Millennium class ships, the larger balcony. In case you are not familiar with Concierge class staterooms, here is a link to the benefits (along with more points) associated with them: https://www.celebritycruises.com/things-to-do-onboard/staterooms/concierge-class-stateroom
