That's one of the best marketing schemes of the industry and the number of people that bought into it is amazing. Yes, they stopped charging you the fixed service fee of $2.50 or whatever it was per transaction, but they simply billed it into their mark-ups on the exchange rates and didn't lose a penny. You're not worse of, just not better of either. You just think you are and that was the plan :)
And I've bought into the Avios collection routine. I know I get a really bad rate, made worse by the fact that unlike Virgin, BA doesn't offer a Visa alternative, just Amex. I need to rethink my strategy here I feel.

We just received our "Reimagining" book in the mail and are having great fun looking at the pictures. I'm intrigued by the re-design of the Patio Grill area allowing it to be an outdoor dining area in the evening. And the Mosaic looks plush. Very nice.
Really looking forward to seeing the new pool grill area. I like the ceiling and the fans there, to go right around the covered parts of the pool deck I think.

Thanks marinaro44 and Phil. These are suites, correct?
Phil, when are you on Azamara again? Seems like you've been in drydock. 😉
Lol, Nancy. I'm living the dry dock! Some say I should have been dry docked some time ago:o. Have to wait until April to see Journey.
The new cabins on 8 are V1 verandas, not suites. Deck 9 port side gets two new Spa Suites where the internet and acupuncture rooms were.

Hi Marmaduke,
That was the plan. I totally understand that not everyone is on Twitter and Facebook, so I wanted our members to be able to share the Journey - pun intended. Glad you are enjoying the show ! :)
Andy, I'm bowled over by the number of pictures coming from the ship. Can't wait to see as the new interiors take shape:cool:

I was not aware they were making new cabins on deck 8. Where will they be and what are they replacing?
Nancy, they are forward of existing cabins, two each side and are in the space currently used as officers quarters. New deck plans for Journey on the Az website show them.

AFAIK, no. They will still have a shower curtain. I don't think their size is large enough for a solid enclosure.

If you want the rate that your card company use (some are better than others. My Amex BA is awful, but I collect miles) then go for B and keep it in USD. I would highly recommend you point this out at check in because on more than one occasion they have converted it using the Azamara rate by mistake.

Hi Ed,
I do hope you get to do the overnight in July, since we will be on the Constellation with LFC2 in October, and hope that we will have the extra night in Istanbul.
When we booked our cruise, we knew that any of the ports could be cancelled if there was a security risk. I have no concern at all for the ports we will be visiting; but my wife is not as comfortable. We do know that if there is a serious risk that Celebrity will make a change if necessary; but they will probably wait until much closer to the sailing date to make a decision. I would hate for them to make a decision based on isolated events in Istanbul.
Mike, I'd honestly be surprised if you do. I was on Constellation in September last year before even trouble in Istanbul and we were supposed to overnight there the first night, but they cancelled it a month before and added Soudha, Crete. Part of the issue if they overnight is they have to run tours which at the moment they don't want to do.

I'm just hoping that the linens will have been through the laundry multiple times, before we embark on 09/09/16!
Should be ok by then! I was on the Journey ta too and didn't have an issue with the new bedding. Pillows and duvets are a huge improvement.

Should've gone to Specsavers🤓

8027 is definitely not a connecting cabin. Sure you weren't looking at deck six by mistake?

Cabin photo from Twitter 1/15/16 :
BTW, it says "Moving Fast. Tomorrow Morning, the First Cabins completed". Wow - that's F-A-S-T :)
Wow, fast indeed!

I think I will save my gambling money for blackjack on our next AZ Journey trip in April. Good idea since the ambience, dealers (shout out to Marina!) and fellow players make this way more fun than the solo experience of Powerball. Bon chance a tous!
Merci. Et toi aussi!

Should have mentioned Heike too. Always good updates from our Hotel Director!:)

I'll never understand why people have to use over-the-top descriptors like "hideous." Nothing on an R-ship was "hideous." Areas may not have been to everyone's taste (I'm a mid-century modern person, myself) but that doesn't make everything else "hideous." There are even a few here who have expressed they are not at all happy about losing the original classic look of the ships as they were built. Is it time for a refurbishment? Yes. Were the ships "hideous" before? Nonsense.
I agree too.
A few more coming from Heike:

See? A turkey is not just for Christmas.

In one photo I see them taking a saw to the teak deck and in another I see a big pile of fire wood. Why is the wood being removed? Was it in poor condition or is it a safety measure to get rid of flammable material???
The teak decking was weathered, some places more than others. I'm not sure if any of the teak will be back or if they will substitute it for a more modern look. The rendering of the Pool Grill shows a different type of flooring that I think looks very sleek.

I'd definitely take port side as starboard you are under the gym. Hard to say if it will be noisy in these new cabins, but I'd play it safe. Not sure about the shower. I'd guess curtains still.
